after a successful year with releases on cocoon, cadenza and get physical, gavin herlihy teams up with brothers in crime evan baggs (get physical) and julian ganzer (get physical, meerestief), to deliver a sci-fi soundscape which bounds into a banging bassline driven groove. doing the honours on the remixes are chris carrier and e-contact (half of gimikk), chris turns the track into a funky house tune, while e-contact adds a more of a chicago groove feeling to the track.

focusing on low slung house music full of swing and swagger, jordan peak has a knack for creating raw analogue charm and already encompasses a growing spectrum of sounds. currently in the midst of a speedy ascent through the production ranks, his output already includes an intriguing set of releases, for a uk act, on labels such as robsoul, raum...musik, saved and tsuba. this is quite an introduction to music making, considering that jordan only released his first record in late 2009.

damon wild and david sumner (aka functions) relationship dates back to 1991 at lord michaels future shock, limelight, new york city when damon was running experimental records via northcott productions. at the time, he first saw something in dave and added him to brand x, a record pool run by moneypenny. but their bond is based around a period 5 years later when dave had an apartment above rogue music at 251 west 30th street in midtown, manhattan. it was during this time damon developed him as a synewave artist and released his first ep as function in the fall of 1996 catalog number, sw-24. falling in and out of touch over the years, across continents, the two have somehow remained on the same cosmic path. so its not a coincidence that now damon has turned to dave to release his first album in 13 years, during the time he is reissuing that first synewave ep on recompiled i/ii & ii/ii (a-ton lp02/03). this is where those paths cross again 21 years later, this fall, dave will release cosmic path on infrastructure. the cosmic connection.

shadow play, the brand new label owned by parisian artist le loup and his partner pura, drops its second release courtesy of the bossman himself alongside chris carrier. the two men got together in the studio and cooked up some tasty goodness. the first of four tracks on this release is the intergalactic opus phoenix lights , which works off serene pads that transport you out into the cosmos, along with a warm, soothing bassline and electronic chirps and bleeps. research programm (outro) takes us into more obscure realms, as chris carrier and le loup sample a scientific vocal and create a mesmerising bed of sounds underneath it. on the flip we kick off with clouds reflection , another track which features a sample from an old instructional video. this track has minimal composition, with dreamy astral pads, shuffling beats and a grumbling low end. in the second half chris and le loup introduce more twinkling fx, to engage and hypnotise you... to bring the ep to a close we re presented with v-shape , which begins with a layer of clever drum programming aimed straight at the hips. once you re moving get ready for the juicy bassline, and a sultry top end that grips you and gripping progression. the perfect to end an utterly fresh ep..

adult only 47 has arrived with pierre codarin dropping some funk on 3 originals alongside a remix from dan ghenacia and chris carrier.........a1 telefunk kicks off things and rolls with a wonky filtered drum pattern picking up a real swung groove before a subtle vocal is then joined by a bass line can only be described as something from a late night jazz workout in the deepest darkest realms of the parisian capitol...detroit style pads and intricate keys keep this groove interesting through out the track pushing it forward more and more with sweet drum edits and skips that are all to known from pierre. a2 morning eyes twists things up with trippy spacey pads and a very nice 303 sitting low in the mix. driving drums make this track work well as it draws to a stripped back moment where the 303 really comes through and does its thing. this really is 6 minutes of a funk fueled adult only workout!b1 telefunk remix dan ghenacia and chris carrier dan and chris bring their twist on pierre s telefunk coming through with a very interesting take on things producing a very tight rework........... b2 evening juice grooves along with a nice warped synth stabs, a bass line that throws it self around the room, the drum pattern keeps things energetic through out alongside a faintly obscure vocal fitting well in the track, evening juice brings the soul and finishes the ep nicely making this overall a very solid package from pierre.

a1: solar reaction - asc is known for off the wall deep atmospheric music with a darker more menacing side to it, solar reaction encapsulates this to perfection. the usual asc trademark of quality is here in abundance, with intricate beats, as one would expect, accompanied with a mysterious dark atmosphere that evolves into something with a warm and more welcoming feeling. haunting chords and electrical static pulse sounds hypnotize and seduce the listener into a trance like state. the deeper drifty synth sounds drop with a friendly embrace on the ears and make you yearn for more. solar avoidance is a track of contrast is executed to great effect.

the always trustworthy sound carrier label steps back into the limelight to hit us with another fix of quality techno from monsieur chris carrier. the parisian producer never stops making music, and he presents three new extra terrestrial cuts here on this latest instalment from his excellent label. the story here is about two powerful intergalactic beings who discover that they have been lied to by their leaders - there are no magic mushrooms, just a forest of poisoned ones. they have laid down their arms to discuss this despicable turn of events… track one is a rolling slice of analogue techno with acid licks and squelches bubbling away at its core. named ‘cat’s eye nebula’ it sucks us in to an interplanetary vortex, with cosmic fx transporting to the interior of a spaceship, while the beats give the feeling of a bumpy ride into the cosmos. this is followed by the more composed solemnity of ‘galactus’. shuffling beats slide over a funky bassline, the outer space theme continues with carrier implementing a series of manipulated sounds which convey the feeling of futuristic machinery, blinking dashboards or robots communicating with one another. finally, we have ‘dark poison’, the inspiration behind the whole ep. more deep 303 vibes on this with a simmering analogue riff, percussion which increases in intensity alongside several layers of melodramatic effects, high-pitched twinkles and chimes which really add to the tension

chris carrier delivers a box of steaming fresh hot techno jams with the latest release from his trusty adult only sub-label, sound carrier. over the last five years he has dropped five eps on the label, with this marking sound carrier’s sixth outing. as usual, the sounds here are a little more entrenched in the techno sound ethic.

with four original tracks from chris carrier, this new ep is based around the original detroit vibe, with a hint of acid. the tracks all take their titles from famous nuclear devices, giving the music a foreboding overtone. rds-1 was the first weapon developed by the russians during the arms race of the early 20th century. the track is deep, driving and morose yet full of life. trinity was the codename of the very first nuclear test in 1945, this track is a shivering acid beast, minimal and absorbing. bwr 3 takes its name from one of the reactors at the doomed fukushima plant, subtle elements of funk flow through this restrained number. lastly comes chicago pile 1, the worlds first ever nuclear reactor, and a track that embodies the ominous possibilities of such an invention.

when two talented international producers such as tato and andrew grant get together and join forces, not even superstition that could surround the ominous 13th mallorcan tato - head of the label isgud - and yankee andrew grant are two of the main players for the ibizan club dc-10 and the well known italian party circoloco. oblack - the label from los pastores - united them on this ep and the result is.. carry on reading. the point is that with rewayna, tato, and with the collaboration of the tech master andrew grant, he gives a new twist to this underground house without concesions that characterize his sound.
