the swedish label is back with a three tracker valvet studios production, featuring per hammars sound of dusty dub house. dixies dubb is a straight forward and warm cut with a good amount of chamber-sounding ingredients. argys take on the track is a timeless piece of dubby, stripped and sparkling techno. just as obvious as it is venturous. as the last track on the flip, we find severnaja, that takes us on a mission over an icy surface. the travelling bassline and overheated drums in symbiosis with the melody brings the listener to uninhabited places.

limited edition lp reissue of this self titled japanese cd album. this lp is the first re-issue of their original cd-r only release in japan in 1999 in a very limited edition (100 copies). it has been remastered in berlin from orginal recordings and pressed to 300 copies with a gigantic sound !!! according to david keenan (wire magazine) about this first cd-r released in 1999 the band are one of the most important underground reference in the actual japan psychedelic scene.

one of the founding members of apollonia, shonky was responsible for his label’s very first release back in 2012 with ‘the minneapolis touch’. outside of working on the trio’s debut lp ‘tour a tour’, shonky has been relatively quiet on the solo tip. here on apollonia’s 25th release we’re treated to four new cuts from the berlin-based parisian, kicking off with plombie&#768,,re (plumber in english). shonky injects a variety of unusual sounds, which revolve around a jaunty bassline, while voices dip in and out of the background, repeating the mantra ‘house music’ together with other difficult to decipher vocal clips. the track has a catchy rhythm that bounces along with aplomb. up next ‘house me’ is a sleazy, mischievous cut with a deadly low end and a seductive vocal that urges you to ‘house me’. as the bassline rumbles, high pitched effects add a hypnotic element to the track. badboy business.on the b-side we have ‘perchee’, which is powered by cleverly layered percussion, which is almost ‘live’ sounding. another one of those ‘shonky’ basslines gets us straight into the groove, with utterly contagious beats – this is one to shake the dance floor down its core. finally, ‘cosmopolis’ has that inner city realness flowing through with the chatter of a street corner in the background, a killer b-line and one of those classic vocal samples that is oh so familiar and gets you nodding your head as soon as you hear it. and there it is, four dance floor cuts with plenty of depth and groove in true shonky style… c est formidable!

dimension ep is a compilation of various etherwerks artists. alongside with hannu ikola, kitkatone and rasmus hedlund who on the ep is collaborating with ness, the release introduces a new artist for the label’s roster, ilkka saastamoinen. the vinyl presents four distinctive ways to approach modern techno.

dimdj has no control over his life. machines, records and noise boxes took over years ago. this is more than confirmed by this 5-track journey from acid techno to the old-school electro and further to kuno’s dystopia, who delivers a complete acidic rework over ptn1.

“change the state of motion” sees fundamental interaction deliver 3 original tracks, “inertia”, “ruination” and “angular momentum”, and the ep is rounded off with a blistering remix of “inertia” by binny.
“inertia” is a track designed for the floor, with a tough, hypnotic synth line that gathers pace as the track progresses. binnys remix deconstructs the elements of the original, turning it into a more pounding, jacking affair.
“ruination” takes things deeper, the main synth filters in and out, with lush atmospheres and dubbed out percussion helping the track along. “angular momentum” takes things on a trippier route, a swinging synth line helped along with pulsating claps and powerful stabs.

for the seventh output through stranger s self reflektion imprint the rotterdam based label welcomes fellow dutch artists moving thoughts to the label roster. “forward motion” ep proves to be a perfect showcase of moving thoughts household style which revolves around thight packed textures, thriving drum patterns and mindblowing taints of mechanic sounds and extravagant synthesis.
