after a hiatus in 2017, city fly records return with a superb ep from label co-owner & serious sample digger, the last trip to gandahar. with previous sell out releases on better listen, kolour ltd and his sublime disco infused nugget r136a1 also on city fly. gandy’s releases have gained support from the likes of giorgio moroder, larry heard and bbc radio 6music. the ep brings an abundance of dancefloor dynamite which includes a collaboration with the ever talented erik rico, who has previously worked alongside artists as diverse as ron trent, dj spinna, q-tip and hip hop monarch tupac shakur. man of the moment byron the aquarius also steps up with a beautifully deep remix of higher! in a full ‘body & soul’ style.

from 4lux to ten thousand yen, earl jeffers has been serving up plenty of upfront good time house music over the past few years, as well as steering the equally on point chesus alias. now he sidles over to the new melange label with byron the aquarius in tow, and the sun kissed vibes are positively pouring out of the record grooves. eira is where byron flexes some on-point melodic input, laying down ludicrously rich keys to ramp up the soul status of this damn fine garage-y bumper. the demo mix of eira resides on the flip and shows off a more stripped down, raw version that s no less satisfying on the ears.

byron the aquarius makes his eglo records debut following on from his two recent ep s for sound signature and wild oats. the alabama producer once again delivers something truly special, journeying through disco, jazz, acid, house and crashing 808 s. leaving this planet is an ep of two halves. the a-side bumps, with two bubbling house jams. whilst the b-side sees byron get loose over two freestyle jazz odysseys. music for the mind, body and soul.

repress , from moods & grooves to sistrum, brian harden has served up more than enough soulful, synth-led house and techno in his time. it s just the kind of style that suits the mood on d3, and so the label has picked up his essential -chicago to detroit- jam and called upon a fine selection of remixers to rework the track. first up is byron the aquarius, who drops some expressive broken beat drums into the mix to spar with the illustrious melodic tones to great effect. meanwhile the label boss brian gets busy with a classic, straight-up adaptation on his -chicago sur seine mix- before patrice scott opts for an energised variation with poignant new rhodes-esque keys floating on top.

early august will see the martinez brothers cuttin’ headz imprint return with a five-track ep from luke solomon, featuring remixes from byron the aquarius and filsonik. although only marking its seventh release here the cuttin’ headz imprint has carved out quite the reputation already with its most recent output, a collaboration between label-heads martinez brothers and miss kittin garnering huge support from both underground and commercial tastemakers.

blaq numbers welcomes explorer of the humankind back to the stable with his latest work, -where did y’all go?-. combining lots of handmade drums & machines with hazy synths, he explored a new set of influences while writing and recording from 2018-2019. the four original compositions now find themselves on a brand new 12” backed by remixes from detroit’s byron the aquarius and larry houl. -where did y’all go?- expands on eoth s previously established house sound and brings in elements of bedroom pop, with lyrical content exploring the modern conundrum of maintaining relationships in the age of social media. not much is known about the lyon native, but his music has built him a keen worldwide following since his debut productions surfaced in 2017.
