with this first ep, s.o.n.s pays homage to the early age of electronic dance music, when techno, house and trance were friendly to each other, when tracks were full of deepness and harmonics, when drums were crazy and raw, when techno was soulful. yeah, this is all about this ep, some soulful deep techno excursions. while the a1 is an after-hours emotional weapon freely inspired by an obscure m. goddard production some will recognize, the a2 is a more straight forward electro track with dark vocals and rising chords, as they made it in detroit back in the days. on the other side of the record is a techno journey through a rainforest with pan flute, deep chords and old school bassline. plus there is a little bonus locked groove: a mere 4/4 tr909 bass drum s.o.n.s personally uses in their crazy obscure techno mixes. turquoise vinyl + foil sticker on cover, limited to 200 copies. mastered by matt colton (l.i.e.s, apron�)

the title track, lost in shibuya, is perhaps our favorite track from the album. its a very evocative track, a 7 minute journey that revolves around a killer bassline, that captures the trancey techno vibe that made some of the most glorious moments of nineties techno. on the flip side, we asked one of our favorite producers to deliver a remix. his name is quarion and as part of drumpoet community, he is responsible for some of the best deep house sounds of the past years, and is one of the leaders of the neo deep house movement. quarion blessed us with a tribute to mood ii swing that is his dub infected killer usuki shinrin mix.

dripping out of the pores of tokyo high-rises, aquarium deepspace serves up his debut vinyl release and the second instalment on natural sciences. drawing on a palette of 90 s detroit house music and the electronic tropes of his home town of japan, midnight at the tokyo central is the unspoken soundtrack for the lost souls of the metropolis, recounting the ecstasy of smoke-filled dance-floors, the touch of dry ice melting through a fur coat, and travelling through neon at 6am. narrated by two separate protagonists under one identity, deepspace side explores muscular acid trax, aquatic pads and throbbing deep house jams for the floor, while aquarium on the flip is coated in hazy electronics and dopamine drained murk, drawing on field recordings taken at tokyo s central train station (rainy night in shibuya) through to lush subterranean jams laced in serotonin nostalgia.
