following the glowing reviews for the recent remixes of dancing inthe dark, layo and bushwacka! are set to release the next single from their forthcoming album rising & falling. the big dream is set to pick up where the audiofly and guy gerber & dj tennis remixes left off, and also features a fantastic remix from desolat co-founder martin buttrich.

layo & bushwacka are set to release the first wave of material from their forthcoming long-player >rising & falling<, with a remix package of the track >dancing in the dark<. contributions come from guy gerber & dj tennis and audiofly, and constitute a package that leaves the listener with a building anticipation for subsequent releases from the album, which will be out this autumn.

originally released on bushwacka!s olmeto records imprint in june 2011, west side became an instant anthem last summer. inspired by the hedonistic euphoria of ibiza, the original track took the shape of a massive dancefloor weapon with its memorable chord progression and high-impact bass. now, just in time for this summer season, tronic have licensed west side for a special remix package from christian smith & wehbba and bushwacka!s new just be pseudonym.

born out of a shared vision of musical inspiration, the duo of d-nox & beckers has, over the last 4 years, firmly entrenched itself into the landscape of the worldwide electronic community. working as a perfect fusion of studio expertise and an impeccable dancefloor touch, this creative combination of christian d-nox wedekind and frank beckers has become a an unfailing source of massive grooves which have successfully infected (infiltrated?) all corners of the globe. with more than a quarter century of combined djing and producing experience between them, d-nox & beckers effectively merge a seasoned musical grounding with a dynamic creative spark that never fails in its ability to adapt to the ever-changing vista of electronic dance music.

>cut me down< was the bi-product of this years ims conference in ibiza where sasha was assumed the honour of creating the 2011 ims anthem in conjunction with burn studios. the track was then handed over to layo & bushwacka for the masterclass in remixing. their stunning mix appears on the flipside with full l&b signature riffs, basslines and bouncy drums.

ahead of a shake it summer residency at amnesia in ibiza, alongside his dj/production partner layo, bushwacka releases his first solo ep of 2011 - the two-track west side / energy ep. westside - this monster is very personal to bushwacka! inspired from the sound of the biggest german techno dj on the planet, sven vath, and the musical magic he wove on the decks over the last ten years in ibiza, bushwacka! has drawn his feeling from this and countless memorable nights there and created a massive dancefloor weapon that has been tweaked and tested around the world. westside creates chaos and euphoria in equal measures and is pure peak time magic. energy is a very different breed of music, again influenced from parties, but this time his own - the morning sessions, the after hours, the dawn chorus - deep, sexy, melancholy, but tough and naughty - this is serious underground tech acid get down dirty music.

olm029 - layo & bushwacka! - double a side summer gone/what do you say now layo and bushwacka! spent most of last year recording, the first offering from this period came at the end of last year with their endangered ep on plus 8. we now present their first release on their own label in eleven months. summer gone is a groove that starts on an up that slowly breaks down and brings in sounds, voices, rhythm and then kicks back with a really strong vocal and groove. what do you say now hits from the moment it begins with a stripped down sound and dub vocal and then slams with strong percussion and then back to the groove. totally tested out by layo & bushwacka! but supported big by the only two other djs with copies, richie hawtin and laurent garnier.

2010 has seen plus 8 celebrate its 20 year anniversary with releases coming from some of technos finest artists, including paco osuna, marco carola, skoozbot, mike shannon, danilo vigorito, datasoul and uto karem. now london duo layo & bushwacka! join the family with the release of their debut for richie hawtin and john aquavivas imprint, with the endangered ep.

femme fatale with audiofly remix of the longest day following the success of layo & bushwackas last release the longest day comes femme fatale plus an additional remix of the longest day by audiofly, stripped back but beautiful and haunting. the a side, femme fatale with its winding hypnotic synth and deep pads harks back to the birth of house music whilst maintaining that up front feel, the track began as a play around with some well known 80s music but then developed into a track of its own.

more percussive layered grooves from layo & bushwacka! this time in the form of >the longest day<, a deeper house track for the discerning amongst you. >can i feel the vibe?< - we certainly hope you can when this one growls out of your speakers. on the b side, olmeto take great pleasure in welcoming mirko loko to the growing list of remixers working on tracks for the label. having made great music for wonderful labels such as cadenza, desolat & planet e, mirko takes this release a stride or two tougher - he locks the groove and just keeps it rocking…absolute precision.

following a number of remix works from olmeto records at the close of 2009, our first release of 2010 puts bushwacka! back in charge. two sublime house tracks with masterful percussion both dripping with style.
>battered< paves the way with tribal rhythms, flutes and chants whilst >sw4< takes an edgier electronic route. olm026 showcases two very different sides to bushwackas personality, both of which are supremely relevant on todays dancefloors…

its been quite a long time since we invited other artists in to remix our tracks, given the great response to our lastest creation >the raw road<, we thought this was the perfect time to do it again. to this end, it is our great pleasure to welcome nic fanciulli and mark broom to give us their own unique versions for our 24th release. both artists represent different arenas of dance music that we love and both clearly take inspiration from very different paths.

olmeto, a small town in corsica, is infamous as the birthplace of the family vendetta. we chose the name as it has an air of mystery but also a bit of fire. we felt that we wanted a label with us as the only artists free to do what we want, how we wantà this is release number 23. all have been ours, and range across the house spectrum, vocal, minimal, tech and deep and probably a little of each in all. the raw road and madagaskar whilst different, are made from the same mood. a strong rhythm with elements brought in and out, like a good dj, you lock the groove and then begin to play around it. although all tracks are by us, we do bring in artists we like to remix from time to time. the raw road will be remixed by mark broom and nic fanciullli and they will join artist such as loco dice, green velvet and unkle who have both remixed tracks over the course of the label.

epic’ is the word that springs to mind when you witness the power the latest bushwacka! tracks hold over the dancefloor. picked up by pete tong early on in its life ‘show of hands’ has already enjoyed numerous plays on radio 1and is the first up on the a side of this package. percussion excellence provides the backdrop before the cruelly unforgettable hook takes things to another dimension, nevermind level. licensed to numerous compilations and with the worlds elite djs caining it, this track is sure to be a big part of your summer clubbing experience. a classic. and after the end, comes ‘the beginning’. deep hypnotic stabs and whirling melodies, evoke images of the morning after the night before, heads down clubbing at its best. the icing on a very tasty musical cake.

much to our advantage, layo & bushwacka! have been seeking solace deep in their west london studio since the closure of the end. this means only one thingàmasses of quality tracks coming your way from the duo and olmeto records over the coming months! the pairs latest twelve takes in two very different sides of their personality. the a side 21, supplies a deep slice of electronic funk complete with mesmerising pads, rising percussion patterns and the most beautifully addictive synth hook put to wax in ages if it doesnt give you goose pimples you need to get to the doctors! heavy weight sub bass kicks demand this be played as loud as you can possibly get it! go on, turn it up, annoy the neighbours on the b side, l&b take it back, waaaaay back, and toy around with some classic house music, creating a patchwork of off kilter, looped up madness to get the party masses hands high up in the air. overflowing with old school flavour, to make you quickly glance over your shoulder back to the 90s, whilst still sounding supremely relevant on todays dance floors.

olmeto’s first release of 2009 takes the flamenco bull by the horns and drops a track of such spanish influence, you’ll think you’re at las ventas! señor bushwackas ‘dromederie’ neatly entangles beautifully mournful spanish guitars, passionate feet stomping flamenco dancers with modern glitches to create a seriously ferocious tune with an underlying feeling of treachery. the percussive elements embroiled in the final three minutes (specially edited as a dj tool for the creative amongst you) are so unique, the reaction evoked on any primed and ready dancefloor has to be seen to be believed…it’s a tune you’re not going to forget in a hurry! side two, ‘the blues’ takes an altogether slower, more winding approach but is sure to draw you in from the off. whilst we are reminded ‘this is the blues’, rising melodies and catchy loops reminiscent of grooving disco transport you to a sleazy den of dance iniquity. marking the twentieth release on layo & bushwacka’s olmeto imprint, ‘dromederie’ & ‘the blues’ are a stunning representation of the forward thinking dance music this label has to offer. not to be ignored.

played by sebo k, karotte... layo and bushwacka! are equally at home turning out summery housey affairs as they are peak time stormers, and >now is the time / the time was then definitely fits into the latter category. a double header, the loose concept behind the release is to represent the sound of the dancefloor now versus the sound from a few years ago. >now is the time< has its feet placed firmly in 2008 - a crisp, clean techno bassline, topped by hand claps, snatches of breathy female vocal, and full of an irresistible array rattles, whooshes and other indefinable sounds that the duo seem to pull from the depths of their imaginations. it breaks with some simple electronic sounding chords and a stirring martin luther king sample that makes this record so memorable. >the time was then< is based around that same sample, but gives a cheeky nod to a few years back, with a bassline and keys that wouldnt have sounded out of place on their seminal ‘night works’ album. it never goes too far towards nostalgia, though, and either would rip up a late night dancefloor

more dark and moody madness from matt b. bushwacka’s stunning production mastery really shines through here as two versions, each with a slightly different twist take effect. the a side, >every dog has its day< shuns the current trends and stands alone like a lonely child at playtime. heavy hammer blow bass and resonating glitches that will stand the test of time. the drum mix takes you on a different tour of the dancefloor and drops you right in front of the dj booth.

take some banging stripped back drums, a hefty dose of bassline, sprinkle lovingly with soundscapes, samples and finally, just a sprig of synth for good measure. serve in a venue full of up for it clubbers and there you have it - olmeto016. definitely best served hot!

bushwacka! brings the pain with two more must be heard techno monsters. both tracks carry the signature bushwacka! journey sound taking you on a pure audio tour. as always strictly limited vinyl release… back on top rocks and we mean rocks! pure hands in the air goodness, purpose built for the dancefloor. the all important matt b cymbal rides and a groove that only bushwacka! can achieve, guaranteed to take any crowd straight to the next level. grated goes deeper and fuses early house drum loops (with bushwacka!s trademark harder edge of course) with simple stabs and a groove laden bassline to perfection. a percussive assault of epic proportions. we defy anyone to be stood still when this one drops!
