we eroded pre-existent structures constructing an open heterotopic space, a horizontal and vertical thinking found its way through physical- and cyberspace, here, nothing manifested instantly - flippancy left space for any kind of interaction and appropriation. within (or well beyond) economic pressure points which diluted production, this was our opportunity to try out different potentials with no restrictions to the public, while simultaneously scrutinising the general framework of institutions and human behaviours. subversive potential always was variable, always asking, deconstructing and reconfiguring itself allowing new states of aggregation within diffuse interspaces and futures

it s a first for pinkman and lux rec. yet the two labels have so much in common that it isn t surprising they have been drawn towards each other. and the rosa luxembourg files is the result of this collaboration. rotterdam and zurich, ian martin and barbir & nicola kazimir, exploring different shades of the same black, wandering at the fringes, plunging into obscurity and machines talk. there s no rest and no comfort, but manic fixation.

a quest for form which is never static and accompanied by two constants - repetition and reduction. reduction requires repetition in order to make the intangible tangible for man. this repetition also stimulates our perception and helps us find an inner self while illuminating towards the primal thought. another synonym for *intangible* is *not human* - for the most reductive of primal thoughts, sprung from fractal chance, does not deal with human beings but with a formal language that is universal, drawing from the innermost, and only becomes tangible in accidental, fortuitous moments.

assemble music brings together four more producers at the forefront of today’s fine minimal/house/electro scene. eklo boss seuil kicks things off with jam, a slowly-unfolding confection of metallic percussion and rolling bass set against a meditative, minor backdrop. his fellow half baked resident robin ordell brings a tipsy-sounding vibe to mobsiw, each element swaying its way around the others in an off-key dance. les points’ barbir adds detroit hats to a no-shits-given breakbeat and suspends it in time, before finally a 4/4 kick comes to put feet back on the ground. finally, traffic founders martyné and jacob draw on more contemporary breaks and electro influences on electronetto, with that laissez-faire swing with which their label has become synonymous.

various is a good word to describe this escales vol.2 from croisière musique crew, the second various e.p. from the label, which seems so diverse that it almost could seem inconsistent to someone not familiar with the label. at the same time this e.p. summarizes perfectly a collection of different styles and aspects of croisière musique, from some heavy dancefloor-friendly house and techno to more abstract acid grooves, going through breaky minimalism. a1 – the e.p. starts with battle of wits from sebastian eduardo which is a direct uncompromising floor-oriented piece of house, setting a filtered atmosphere, bouncy bassline and a filtered synth which reminds us of a dubby atmosphere. a thick and compact atmospheric part progressively takes on the middle of the track and suddenly fades to let the main dancing pattern return. a2 – lowlifequalitys is a spatious acid piece which contains elements that are close to the aesthetic of video games. all synths coming together give a sense of confusion yet ordered by the repetitiveness of the loop. the sensation of something nerd and muddle rise from this experience, a expression of weirdness by the member of les points.b1 – programming behavior sets a step back in the ep, evolving around an hypnothic vocal piece which is extracted from an old interview of george clinton, heavily chopped and processed. on top of the simple breaky drum pattern which recenters the experience, gets added an arpeggio and a modular synth sounding sequence which progressively dramatizes the track. rx delivers here a mysterious piece of minimalism, bitter yet swingy. b2 – the e.p. ends with catan, the first appearance from françois, who co-founded croisière musique with rx. starting with an ambiant and breaky atmosphere, catan quickly evolves to a drivy four step techno piece. on top of the leading synth comes different glitchy elements, aerial pads and a disturbing shamanistic glitch in the middle of the track that announces a break which confuses the listener. the track follows-up on this contradiction between the hypnotic grooves and the solid drivy techno.

phaenomena ep is the second release of our kommuna tapes imprint. the first side starts with a track produced by tom ellis over a decade ago that has been one of our secret weapons for many years. barbir and nicola kazimir from les points take us on a faster paced, electroish trip. on the flip side, we are introducing an upcoming zürich talent – adva – with two cuts between ambient, dub and minimal. track by track, we build a kommuna of artists who share our insatiable appetite for music discovery, guided by a certain vision of the dancefloor: deep stripped-down grooves, sometimes challenging, always with character.
