slices of life celebrates the 10th release with a two-part vinyl compilation: sol10.1 and sol10.2! for the 10th release label owner barbara preisinger is gathering seven unreleased tracks on two seperate 12inches, by previous slices of life artists as well by producers who have a relationship to the label through frindship, events and personal support. each track presents the personal unique style of its producer, but all have a feeling for warm sounding organic house grooves in common, what slices of life stands for since the beginnings in 2009. on the first 12inch, sol10.1 the mole, baaz and john tejada excite us with an extension of their previous slices of life repertoire with 3 further timeless pieces of house music: trippy and soulful (come on kid), deep and percussive (fitzy), minimal and playful (how i used to). dana ruh celebrates her debut at slices of life with out of ada20: an upbuilding sunrise track carried by a driving beat and thrilling string lines. november 9th 2018 the 2nd part, sol10.2 will follow with exclusive tracks by dj deep, cab drivers und oscar schubaq.
baaz from berlin gives us further insight into his diverse musical interests with his two (for you) ep on office. as the title suggests the talented producer splits his musical activity into two genres on this record: one is deep and moody techno with a knack for strong sub bass and soft pads. and the other one is striking ambient with a wonderful appreciation of moving melodies and mellow chords combined with touching vocal parts. what is remarkable how well these four carefully building tracks go together and how effortless they further underline baaz artistic vision of reduced and understated electronic music which unfolds slowly but emphatically. a respectable new record which is well worth opening yourself to
two deep and driving house tunes by baaz! since the release of his last sol 12inch „swimmer“ (sol5) quite a bit has happened: baaz founded his own successful label office recordings, he has also created a new moniker for his dub techno productions as -eric miller-. his love of dubby sounds and echo chambers can be experienced in „the reason“ and „ancestor s fun“, although it s obvious that baaz also stays true to his deep house roots. he skillfully combines spacial structures with his characteristic driving beats and organic sounds. -the reason- is a grooving light footed tune with a jumping bassline and develops, step by step, this driving energy, that will not let you go. -ancestor s fun- brings up the energy level with stronger beats and open high hats, but the playful warm sounds and drifting strings keeps the wonderful flow that we love to hear from baaz s productions
limited repress 2015 !!
the debut release on office recordings is the first part of a series produced by label founder baaz. in my mind is a subtle, shiny piece of jazzyfied house music with a steady rolling groove and dirty kickdrum. glim bangs the box with deep dubs and a sexy vigorous groove. the flip starts with two mind bending downbeat cuts with a stumbling beat. last but not least a slowburning remix of way out citti by matthias reiling (sessionn victim, giegling recordings) and björn astrup who did a brilliant job twisting the original into a soulful homage to the slow side of house music.
after seven years and 11 releases on labels like slices of life and daniel bells elevate outpost, berlin producer baaz is ready to reveal his first full-length effort. his 10-track lp, red souvenirs, is set to drop on 24th of november via the beatmakers own office recordings, which makes it the fourth release from the imprint after a record from christopher rau and two eps from baaz himself.
the mighty maw from nyc, rick wade from detroit, baaz & tomska from europe returns with this vinyl only release featuring an unreleased gem from back in the day the aptly named tribute from maw a 6 minute live deep jazzy house symphony workout from the boys themselves with groovy fat bass & uplifting fluids, which has never seen the light of day. the release also features tracks by rick wade & baaz & tomska
we are happy to announce a follow up ep of baaz on sol with three massive and rolling house pieces. >swimmer< comes right in time for the 2013 s summer season with its strong driving beats and drifting chords that awake your lust to run through high summer grass
the second part of the >what about talk about< series by baaz starts with >owls night<. a deep house tool with a vigorous bassline, some classic 909 elements, weird vocals and a pumpin piano chord. >those things< the second track on the a, infects you with positive vibrations and the magic mood. the b side enters with a remix by the highly skilled producer michel bauman under his moniker soulphiction. he turned the track called k.m.s. into an emotional and strong kicking house tune. a cut for the special moments. the original is produced by iron curtis & baaz . 90 bpm, a dippy pipe organ, wooden beats and shaky percussions. the last track >whatabouttalkabout< is a lush experimental listening slice, prober for the dark and chilly winterdays.
supported by sasse , wolf& lamb, djulz, trickski, chris duckenfield, willie graff, vera, huxley, afrilounge, lee jones, kris wadsworth, yakine, hauke freer, james teej (rekids),.. yes, its the man again, iron curtis! he has been climbing up for the last few months with various top releases (like on mule electronique, hudd traxx, undertones or his dirt crew recordings remix) and this is another proof why iron curtis is a man to watch. its all there: fat basslines, well crafted beats and great synths. real neighbour baaz (no joke, they live door to door) is adding a smooth remix to finish this well balanced pack. go and get 70!
baaz comes back home at sthlmaudio recordings for a rich and surprise full new ep called woodland drive. the 12 inches start right off with sink, a very baaz styled house track which is dance appealing and yet refined and subtle. a raw bassy groove monster track. the next one might surprise the baaz fans out there, yes it’s a hip-hop track featuring the soul vocals of katrina marie. we figured out that it might be fresh to provide some other point of view in the repeating herself dance scene. the b side strikes hard on the house side again, it s gone is one of those pure shining and rolling tracks. once to you uplift it you’d just let it go. a bass heavy subtle and groovy house cut, baaz trademark?! essential. and again the b2 and closing track is an lush and low key hip-hop science out of baaz most retired places
nowar has the privilege to introduce this new producer duo from the netherlands, duijn & douglas, composed of esther duijn and steady douglas. their very first outing on the wax comes with a solid deep house monster, pounding steady beats, hip shaking chords and sexy sweet percussion. cat concrete will have you dancing and sweating in no time. close your eyes and lose yourself in the infectious rhythm of this brilliant track. its house music in its purest form. on the flipside you can find baazs remix which takes the track in a more stompy direction. slow jacking beats, a gripping sub bass with a deep old skool touch. its a deep but slow chicago stomper for both warming up the early birds and easing out the afterhour creatures. this record is solid, deep, raw and comes in a very nice artwork sleeve!
elevate, if you remember, is the deep house label from daniel bell that put out a series of influential records in the late 90’s including the first 12 from theo parrish. these releases are still very much in demand and are going for high collectors prices online. it is now the summer of 2008 and elevate is proud to present a new release, this time from baaz. baaz is a new artist with only a few releases so far including tracks on sascha dive’s deep vibes label and a full e.p. on sthlmaudio. baaz may hail from southern germany but you would swear he grew up in the same detroit neighborhood as mike huckaby or moodymann when you hear his warm, gentle and deeply hypnotic house music.
superb house 12inch on agnès label big with ame, gerb janson, dixon, johnny d, la pena,.. tip ! here we are, the 2nd baaz ep on sthlmaudio recordings. again digging deep in house music, baaz is confirming yet again his great talent. the 1st track feature a baaz good old friend. knarf skipson and they team up for a superb house anthem for your pleasure and ours. amongst the others stunning two tracks on the ep, youll find a just about remix by agnès. which is a stripped down simple mix. raise your hands and pray for some sun =)
nu school of deep house ! baaz music has matured so much in a couple of years, it is now something very special, that appears simple to your ears but is indeed properly produced and incredibly deep. baaz gained as well with hes recent works hes very own sound signature that is really incredibly sweet, groovy, intelligent and properly swinging. we think that this is one of our pearl record and we are simply proud of pressing it on black wax. dont believe the hype, copies remains copies, the truth is in the original !!
