harlems legendary disco label queen constance has long been a cult favourite among fans of underground dance music for decades. one of many labels operating under the equally legendary p&p family of imprints land of hits was operated by one peter brown, a truly colossal figure in nycs music scene, its catalogue still fascinates music lovers to this day. covering a wide range of styles including gospel, early rap and disco the label s output continually finds it way into the playlists of respected dj s and selectors across the globe. mistafide s colossal old-school rap behemoth equidity funk has long been a record that makes the serious collectors salivate and is now here in full 12inch form repress, too legit to quit. not much is known about the crew behind mistafide , their government names are listed online but this is the only record they put out using this name. suffice to say, this has no impact on the fury and style with which the mc s deliver their raps, backed with the studio nous of impresario peter brown. across 12 minutes equdity funk is a slamming disco-rap monster, interpolating elements of the evergreen b-boy jam theme from swat it sounds like everyone just got into the studio and went for it. in the style of the times this is the real hip-hop flavour, a live band, some mc s and some death defying bars being dropped, proper old school. a truly rare recording, equidity funk has been one of those records fans of the disco-rap era have been fiending for for decades - often commanding prices over the $1000 mark you can now grab this slice of essential nyc street funk.

ellum black, the new sub-label of maceo plexs notorious imprint, focuses on the dark and intellectual side of techno. this second record instalment features spanish producer architectural. following an ep on the main branch of the label in 2017, juan rico aka architectural delivers 3 forward thinking cuts for this record. architectural is known for his detailed and magnetic productions and on ‘a girl with no friends ep’ he goes deeper into the hypnotic edge of his soundscape. the first track we hear ‘romanticism movement’ creates a statement for the vocabulary of sounds rico used for this record such as low frequencies and deep grooves. the title track follows on the b-side with develops on these textures. closing the trio ’never yours, boy’ finishes the ep with another variation of architectural’s romantic techno repertoire.

damian lazarus & the ancient moons have released their new track ‘feedback loop’. this is the latest single to be taken from their forthcoming new album heart of sky, out on july 20th through crosstown rebels/bmg. showcasing the warm textures of jesse appiah’s soulful vocals and the ancient moons’ top notch production, ‘feedback loop’ already sounds like a classic and is undoubtably one of the album’s key moments. the song is about a.i., a conversation between man and machine, and rolls out of the speakers like a 21st century update of bristol’s wild bunch sound system. remixes for the dancefloor from bedouin and serge devant, plus dubs from the legendary mad professor, follow on all formats next month.

you may remember the closing of space, ibiza with carl cox when he played a bootleg of total confusion. barry obzee hobbs (rising high a&r) spent a lot of time trying to locate the remixer and finally did a few months ago. we have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in may and on digital in july. the story goes like this: carl cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including tomorrow land, kappa future fest and timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. the remixer, rod malmok from rotterdam aka benny rodriguez, who is a very established dj producer playing for loco dice in ibiza etc and releasing on ben klock s imprint klockwork, chris liebings imprint clr, adam beyers imprint drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with dubfire, rod gave him a rough copy the following day. he played it to carl cox at space, ibiza and cox begged him for a copy - see video below if you ve been around the scene for a while you will know that rising high records was one of the first labels to shape techno, hardcore and breakbeat in the uk and was huge!

following their first dive into the archives of earguard studio which led to bm02, basic moves have tapped the source again and selected two raw,previously unreleased productions from 1996. for dj deg,this was a transitional period: a moment to look back on the genesis of circadian rhythms and a time to look forward to both personal and artistic evolution. on the a-side of bm06 lies a track where house and techno come together to shape a mysterious, hypnotic atmosphere. “sinh session” is coloured with the warmth and passion that deg absorbed from his musical influences of the time and it reflects an era of great emotional importance: for him,each track holds a story.

the first release on the newly established greyhound days imprint comes from christian kroupa alias alleged witches, hailing from slovenia, who proved his skills and innovation as a participant at the red bull music academy in 2014.

respuesta alternativa or the alternative response was the project of spanish musician jesus ma catalan, created with the help of julian c. perez. as the title implies the music was generated in response to traditional music notions of the time, and reflects how jesus ma catalan would challenge these traditional ideals using a fusion of styles and his unique vision. jesus laid out his synths and drum machines, while other musicians played traditional instruments over the top. this unique approach worked to create atmospheric tracks capturing simple themes, with each influence being carefully thought of in the joint result. as he explains each instrument weaves independently throughout a passage in a curious game where the listeners attention goes from focusing on a keyboard, guitar to bass or percussion. previously only released on a cassette album in spain, left ear have polished 5 choice cuts for a 2018 12inch.

tachyon audio is a vinyl label that’s focused on sounds in the techno realm targeting sweaty, dark dance floors, with large, high-quality sound systems. inhabitants come back strong in mutations volume ii, tachyon audio’s second offering. these two primates are often found inhabiting dark spaces, forging ahead on complex math equations. their distinct, driving, mathematical, and drumming techno is a result. expect more solid work and performances from these two mysterious beings on tachyon audio as the label continues its progression. tachyon audio’s second release follows a similar format to the first, in that, tac002 is a diverse ep that touches on techno sounds that are helping to lead the march forward into the future of sound production and style. the second tachyon audio release also comes from the mysterious dark studio of inhabitants, who build off their first, and display their precise, technical forms of production. the a-side track, mut11 (a1) is a sci-fi exploration that pleases the ear with thick sub and low basses, along with a pitch-twisted melodic element, and the inhabitants distinct sound effects and automation. the track has a strong impact immediately, as you can feel the intensity of elements being added, manipulated, and combined, and a sturdy, grimy feel pervades the piece with an interesting driving rhythmic percussion.

washington dc’s rush plus drop four superb techno cuts entitled ‘the sweat ep’ on p.leone and caiazzo’s e-missions imprint this june. having dropped three quality releases on their own eponymous label, rush plus continue to turn heads with their imaginative productions, gaining support from the upper echelons of techno with names like rodhad, ben klock, dj spider, ben sims, slam, answer code request, dj deep and many more getting behind them. following up a release on ambivalent’s valence records, they now join p.leone and caiazzo’s rapidly rising e-missions imprint. ‘megabust’ initiates the package with twisted sci-fi synths and syncopated drums whilst rattling metallic elements operate throughout. intricate hits of percussion are soon followed by rumbling bass in ‘rebirth’ as the track gradually becomes more and more twisted using filtered effects and soaring pads, making way for the shuffling ‘sweat’ with its menacing stabs and echoing voices. finally, the package concludes with ‘slow release’ - a high-octane and ominous roller.

and now for something completely different … cgi is extremely excited to present the proof of concept ep from shanghai-via- chicago’s osheyack. these are productions with a weight and freshness that we at cgi have not previously encountered. while on a small us tour in june 2016, osheyack played a set in atlanta and thoroughly blew everyone in the room away with a mastery of rhythm, sound, and arrangement that is uncanny. we approached osheyack after the gig for demos and what we received was as dense and inspiring as the live set. words don’t do this sound justice but it’s perhaps most fun to close your eyes and imagine a demonic cirque-du-soleil-esque techno marching band stomping through the graveyard of your dreams and resurrecting all of the wasted souls to stomp on their graves in a frenzied trance...
