auf ulrich schnauss 5tem studio-album “no further ahead than today” regieren einmal mehr die elektronisch eingespielten ambient-pop-hymnen, die längst zu seinem markenzeichen geworden sind. diese sollten fans von künstlern wie jon hopkins und brian eno interessieren. schnauss selbst ist umtriebig - seit 2014 ist er keyboarder bei tangerine dream, produziert unter eigenem namen remixes für pop-künstler wie depeche mode, pet shop boys, todd terje und bryan ferry und hat gerade für die decca-compilation “re:works” bachs “prelude in c” neu in szene gesetzt.
“no further ahead than today” ist klar mehr pop als ambient. starke melodien stehen im vordergrund, die stücke sind mit rhythmen unterlegt, zuweilen gar mit gesang begleitet, eine hymnische note ist immer präsent. spätestens seit seinen beiden solo-alben, die bei dem deutschen label city center offices erschienen, gilt schnauss als ein elektroniker, der manche tugenden des britischen indie-shoegaze-sounds auf seine klangvorstellungen überträgt.

‘consistency’, the second lp from the berlin-based techno artist. the 11 track release follows 2014’s ‘en route’ and will be released on heiko laux’s label kanzleramt, a label with which kajioka has worked with closely for over a decade. consistency lp bears all the marks of a kajioka release: a collection of deep, driving, groove-laden and synth-focused cuts. heady grooves which leave little question why ray kajioka is held in such high regard among techno veterans, called upon regularly for remix honours by the the likes of heiko laux, joel mull, pan-pot, elbee bad, alexander kowalski and marc romboy, to name but a few. kajioka’s reputation for faultless production remains consistent on this, his sophomore lp. the full, extended physical release of consistency contains 3 vinyl disks: 2 x 12” lp disks plus a free, bonus 12”.
