available on limited edition triple vinyl (via dj specialty shops) this is a compilation of nine tracks remixed (between 1979 and 1982) by larry levan, the dj behind new yorks famously influential nightclub, the paradise garage. levan is a producer and remixer who, though he died in 1992, continues to be cited as one of the industry s greatest and most revered. each of the nine individual full-length tracks was digitally remastered specifically for this project. the sound quality is brilliant! the compilation comes complete with comprehensive liner notes giving the label s history, its relationship with levan and anecdotes about each of the nine remixes and how each came about. originally released in 1999 this release has been fully re created for 2016. released in conjunction with west end

prodigious underground nyc producer larry josephs sparque project turned in a handful of classic 12inchs for west end records & lets go dancing is probably the most well known of all of them. all the hallmarks of classic west end are here, the futuristic production (1981!) soulful vocals & killer arrangements all combine with francois kevorkian & larry levans legendary mixing desk skills to give us this bonafide garage classic that rocked dance floors from nyc to chicago on its release & still packs a punch today! this record is all about having fun, partying & losing yourself in the music, an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again, remastered & repressed for 2015 in conjunction with west end records, nyc.

classic arthur russell 7 inch from the depths of west ends vaults. timely remastered from the original tapes. this is a different version to the honest jons 12 inch released in 2003 with more moog bleeps and a slower tempo and has never been commercially available on vinyl (track run time 2:45). it also includes the uptempo freakout rare as hens teeth instrumental mix. original 7 inches going for up to £200 on discogs and only 12 people in the world showing they own a copy. this release never got passed promo stage at west end in 1980.

another west-end sure-shot! this sublime piece of early electronic boogie has always worn its classic badge with a relaxed sense of pride since its release in 1982, perhaps its the languid synthed out groove supplied by studio maestros nick martinelli & david todd or brenda taylors sublime vocals reminding us all that the game of love is always a 2 way street that are to blame?

another classic from the west end archives! forrrces keep on dancin from 1982 was a huge record across the board from bronx block parties to the paradise garage in nyc and dj harveys moist nights in london town, its popularity was bolstered by a fierce francois k dub mix on the b-side that stripped the record right back to it s most basic elements with a healthy dose of reverb assisted psychedelia thrown in for good measure! this killer cowbell led boogie jam has always been a big hit with disco freaks and continues to sound fresh some 30+ years later even making its way into veteran uk dj and music historian sean ps 100 boogie essentials 1980-1984 list. high praise indeed!re-mastered from original tape transfers, re-pressed and made available again for 2015 in conjunction with west end records, new york city.

another rare nugget culled from west ends incredibly influential back catalog. theres never been someone like you is a smoothed out soulful disco jam and a paradise garage classic! produced by the mighty kenton nix whose credits include working on records for taana gardner, gwen mccrae and the treacherous three among many others and featuring the exceptional vocal talents of underground soul singer bobby youngblood.

love club was an obscure one off project fronted by jay -mixin- dixon, a dj with a long history at nycs kiss fm where he played deep house and garage on the stations legendary master-mix show in the early 90s. the record also features a mystery, uncredited female vocalist assisted by some top shelf studio personnel manning the boards.

another early 80s nyc club classic from the vaults of west end records, just in time is yet another sublime record mixed by the martinelli / todd team & features many of their trademark touches & the ladies of raw silks incredible voices.
