when hartmood sent us his stuff in the late eighties we were like >oh my gosh its far too early for that kind of next gen shit!< we asked him if he was in a hurry. he said >do what ever you like!< more then two decades later we thought it was time to release his shit. and so we did. we asked boris bunnik and dcnt to do a remix and in the end we even had some more next gen shit!

the unstoppable boris bunnik is back once again, this time as vernon felicity with a four track ep for mos recordings. the tracks see him explore his usual analogue heavy sound, but there is a little more space in his arrangements, a more rueful mood...

coming off an outstanding 12 inch,, release on dixon avenue basement jams this mysterious artist returns w/an ep that ranges from slamming acid and bass heavy techno to a thick house jam with a dizzying jazz influence.

the e.p kicks off with she can dance, a slow burning acid number that has elements of deep, grooving house from the detroit school. in fact, the second cut low control bares the influence of detroit too, with its murky, dubbed-out chords ala luke hess moving into a punchy bassline with minimal but functional drum patterns. proceedings get a bit more bouncy on the smoking hat, a quirky acid romp on the less daft side of ceephax, and the perfect soundtrack to accompany a feature-length documentary about.... a smoking hat. finishing up the e.p is fudge fingas remix of low control, the only man qualified to make an already deep as fuck track even deeper. theres been some on-point criticisms about a lot recent deep stuff getting lost in noodly jazz territory, but we are in no danger of that nonsense with fudge fingas at the controls: accomplished a musician he may be, hes never been one to lose the way, and this mix proves his deft and subtle remix talents. dabj done done it again, and hopefully this is the first in a long line of productions from vernon.

super limited 12 from rob mellos no ears outlet. we literally only have a handful of these. reminiscent of classic landshark jams, this punchy 808 led, quirky vocal house workout has all the trademark no ears elements.

incl. sascha dive remix!! ray okparas ama recordings returns after the resounding success of its debut release for ama002, the surrender ep by vernon & dacosta, the belgian based house project of vernon bara and massimo dacosta. the pair have been producing music for 10 years since meeting in belgium and have released tracks on labels such as om records, robsoul, aroma, a second smell, icon, diy, amenti, ready made, klassic fiasco, off rec. and many more. they have remixed over 40 tracks for artists such as brett johnson, fred everything, johnny fiasco, swirl people, jt donaldson, bear who? and someone else to name but a few. the surrender ep is characteristic of their style with a cold, industrial groove comfortably juxtaposed with an infectious soulful spirit. the lead track, about our music, centres on a groove that just keeps on keeping on, sleazing its way through your body before the vocalsam ple with an ode to jazz punctures the track. one of the finest exponents of the groove, sascha dive, steps into the remix for about our music with a dark beat dub that corrupts the bass line and warps the vocal into a distorted, eerie sermon…

vernon & dacosta have been on a nightshift and came back with this groovin and soulful 4-tracker. another quality robsoul release.
