the detroit area artist/producer once called ibex is no more. due to other artists copying the ibex brand, tony ollivierra will now be recording as his real name under his new label northside district. this first release demonstrates a continued appreciation for the roots of electronic music, with several of these tracks sounding like they were buried in a time capsule back in 1987, and unearthed after marinating for twenty years or so. this should come as no surprise, since tony has been producing tracks for about that long.

following up on the success of patrice scotts orbital bliss ep, sistrum moves further into the exploration of modern electronic music with the 2nd installment of the aphotic segments series. as always, quality is the key and deep vibes are the order of the day.

tony ollivierra begins 2011 by getting down with the machine sound. bordering on acid-funk, this ep really gets it shakin. the title track jericho, reeks of the latter days of disco with a deep bass line that fades in and takes control of the party. a warm synth chord then kicks in along with some strings which build up to a peak time climax. nag champa captures a deep and surreal groove with a sweet aromatic feel that definitely is burning. the dark bass line entangles the listener in a sensual moment while a resonant synth riff tops it off. on the flip, midi aura begins with an uncompromising synth bass line that does not quit. the sequence bubbles onward and a thick chord sweeps through the arrangement opening up into a placid apex of harmony. the aura of this midi is feel good all the way. lastly jack box, another acid track that works the cutoff and resonance into a climax of delightful poly rhythm and melody. jericho will be a very limited vinyl press and will be the final project on the ibex music label. keep your ears open for his next label venture which will be introduced this summer.

yore welcomes ibex to the yore family. tony ollivierra aka ibex, who is no stranger at all to the world of detroit house music, known for his outstanding releases on carl craigs >planet e< or his hot gems on 3rd ear and rushhour, returns in full effect on our 26th release. here he brings us four tracks, so deep (and yet grooving without a doubt), unique and full of class, that it still leaves us simply speechless. the music on this ep is so rich and full of musical ideaÆs, like we havent heard it since a very long time. one can tell you need history and expertise behind to drop something like this and ibex sure has what it takes. hes been releasing high quality house music since early 2000 and has been touring as a dj since the mid nineties, which all you can sense in his music. this is one of our personal favourite releases so far and we can only strongly recommend to get your copy while they last. killer ep not to be missed and already a classic today!

oh yes! the long awaited return of ibex aka tony ollivierra. we always loved his dj slym fas (intangible) and ibex (planet e) releases and now he is back to do his thing for rush hour!
this includes three joyful house tracks of which 350 comes in vocal and instrumental version. reminds us of his earlier planet e stuff. its also reminiscent of early recloose stuff. lets leave it at essential detroit house music. welcome back ibex!
