undo (gabriel berlanga) introduces his third album disconnect, with ten songs written, recorded and produced during 2015 and 2016. on disconnect undo blends different influences using both new and old analogue gear combined with digital plug-ins and fx to create his own recognizable sound after more than 10 years on the road. opening track “disconnect” finds undo playing with psychedelic synths and singing shyly. we also hear vocals but in a very diferent mood onthe funny, funky and sexy “computer friends” and on “autómatas”, an electro cut that demands a reaction against the established injustice. there are vocals as well on the last track of the album, this time with an epic vocoder because at the end “we’ve got to fight”. djs will likely gravitate toward the unstoppable trance synth of “the arptist”, the chug-techno tension on “acid prophet”, the shuffled beats and endless harmony of “setembre” and the dreamy melodies of “interferencias” and “sunmachine”.

early electronics by a.k.klosowski made available again through felix kubin s galgarin records label! long before digital sampling was affordable for everyone, a.k.klosowski invented his kassetteninstrument, a custom-made music apparatus consisting of eight sony-walkmen combined with a mute/demute mechanism. the outputs of the instrument could be controlled both by hand and by an automatic trigger module. in addition, a drum computer and some effect machines were fed into the circuit. this technique allowed for very intuitive and simultaneous control over the analogue tape sources.

redefine is the second single taken from trentemøllers new album fixion and features marie fisker on vocals. marie fisker, a mainstay of the trentemøller live constellation, has also been a long-time studio collaborator of anders and her four songs on fixion mark their third musical partnership. marie has such a powerful and unique voice that fits my music quite naturally. i had her in mind as soon as i started writing. she ended up singing on four of the songs so shes definitely the voice that kind of leads you through the album. having toured so extensively with marie, we ve come to understand each others capacities and that really pushes us to challenge and inspire each other. i reckon thats the driving force behind our songwriting.

a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the release of etienne jaumet’s night music, dating from october 2009. his hypnotizing music and enchanting live performances put him directly on the map. it’s just him who is in control of his ship. he moves without complexes from his saxophone to his drum machine (his beloved tr 808) while turning knobs modulating synths, and sending his voice through an echo.la visite, etienne’s brand new album, more luminous and jazzy than its predecessor, has been composed and produced within a two month period in the versatile studio. it became a piece of introspection, mentally as well as physically. in the title track, for which flop wrote the text, we hear etienne travelling through the inside of a body, fantastic voyage style.it is always surprising to see a record taking shape. etienne would arrive at the studio without any precise idea in head, approaching his work rather intuitively. he works standing up, which brings a very different energy than being seated behind a computer polishing up every detail. he is in total mastery of his set-up, ready to capture that short-lived moment of true creation. the only use a computer has for him, is to record his experiments - afterwards being mixed by jerome caron (blackjoy).in between night music and la visite, etienne has not been lazy. not only has he done numerous collaborations (amongst others with joakim, richard pinhas, francois & the atlas mountain) and picked up djing, he has also recorded a new zombie zombie album (rituels d’un nouveau monde) with cosmic neman, as well as the soundtrack loubia hamra. and he worked with artist felicie d estienne d orves on the installation satori. at this very moment, etienne and his saxophone are still part of the tour of james holden.

in marieu s ôrootsö, you can hear all the trademarks of the boss of the label. dark, hypnotic and pumping, it developes a bouncing double bass line that breaks the atmosphere with an aggressive 808 kick. acid and funky at the same time, it s simply a time bomb.

dj diamond is 24 year old karlis griffin from the west side of chicago. he has been producing music since the age of 13 and djing since 20, heading the -flight muzik- clique of footwork producers. you might recall his two tracks from our -bangs & works vol.1- footwork compilation of last year. in addition hes also released several mix cds in chicago, but this, his first international album showcases his unique style of footwork music. dj diamond is a unique producer with his own distinct style and an unusual ear for unexpected sonic and rhythmic combinations within the footwork template. often he thoroughly edits samples into tiny trance-inducing, techno-like stabs. combining this with a penchant for neon synths and loose, broken drums (that are often more effect-laden and freeform than those of of his peers) and you have a sound which has an intriguing, deeper, dreamlike feel. the breadth and quality of his production is clear when you listen to this album. take opener -rep yo clique-s woozy drawling synths and tribal tom patterns next to -speakerz n tonguez- with it-s snapping snares, minimal, repetitive voice samples and martial, detailed drum work. then a track like -torture rack- which is like grime in outer space: a minimal bassline and some samples from a computer game, while a bass kick stumbles at half time, swarms of percussive detail giving it drama. its a brilliant exercise in wonky tension. the extraordinary -decoded- comes across like a kind of amalgam of trance and prog rock bombast at 160bpm while -wreckageÕs- high pitch saw noise is like a strange metallic bird-call, over light cymbals, gabba-like kicks and metallic claps. -digimons- harmonic microedits could even be an snd track transported to chicago. finally the albums closer -i choose you- rolls out over a heavily edited and processed soul sample, its drums rolling off at odd angles to almost seasick effect.
