sgr is a series of re-issues of the best of aubreys productions on the three labels he produced from 1991 to 2002: solid groove records / textures records / dark records
in addition of carefully re-masted versions of those classics each ep will feature an unreleased track from this time period. sgr 1 features two tracks from the solid groove 12 – spanky rogers ep aka (aubrey) originally releases in 1997. the a2 track is re-master from the under looked dark techno series: dark 1, originally releases in 2001 and finally b2 is an unreleased track with the self-explaining name *unreleased 1* originally recorded in 1997.

nearly two years ago we released mys/kela by a newish stockholm-based producer who had put out a couple tracks on a couple labels studio barnhus and local talk owned by friends from around town. that produce s name was hnny and a lot has happened since then, both to him and to us. hes gone on to crank out more l.t. 12inches as well as some hes dropped on his yummy and puss imprints, weve gone on to unleash a couple dozen more records and see the list of talent we ve hosted at our parties grow to astounding length. somehow, through it all, we managed to stay close with hnny, whos real name is johan cederberg, and even book him for a couple nyc gigs. the friendship that began so humbly and gently in 2013 has blossomed.

bay area soul vibe creator and frequent ocha records remixer cecil carthen introduces vocalist solas b. lalgee on his debut single holding space. soul, jazz and house all come together on this lyrical release that gets some very tasteful reworks, including a very beautiful mix from angolan superstar dj producer djeff afrozilla

for the dataphysix fans and trainspotters here finally on vinyl! one of the tracks that has been played by heinrich mueller 2 years ago in a special podcast he did for resident advisor. this was one of the unknown tracks and finally it gets an official release. no further info on the producer, just a well produced one sided 12inch with doodles etched in spiral on the b-side. its needles to say there is a limited amount of these.

back at it again, taking the true essence of the “jacking” sound of chicago house and putting it’s own stamp on it is what obsolete music technology has done with their new 12&#8243,, entitled, “volatile.” warbling, wobbling, distorting, sinisterly acidic basslines abound is the best way to describe this release! for dance floors only! you have been warned! “volatile” starts off with some 707 drums intro and then fading in, is this tripped out, bubbling bass sound that sends you off a cliff! just when you think that’s all to the track, dark, melancholic pads comes in for added atmos-fear! rounding out the a-side is “killin,” with it’s 2 acid style basslines, one sounding at a high octave and the other at a lower octave. riffs playing separately sounding great, but when played together, there is something slightly, mentally off. on the b-side, “broken siren” is high energy! 808 tom drums bringing the funky low end while a short, electronic piano lick drenched in warm, fuzzy, flange effect. setting it off is a decayed sine wave, mimicking an actual alarm sound. lastly, “electric current” best describe this distorted acid bassline and its tweaking filter and resonance controls over jacking 808 drums

the fx mchn has unplugged itself from the london housing trust offices just long enough to run off these three documents for narrow gauge. art 2 mouse starts with a gritty, little drum box punching way above its weight before the heavy machinery rolls in for reinforcement. mono life slows the tempo with a close-up shot of the intricate interlocking cogs of an fx mchn track. on the flip side we move to a wider-screen format for a helicopter ride over the oil-drum beats and tribal chants of no place to go .

two dubbed techno wonders on a coloured 7 platter. lars fenin, born and raised in hamburg has been around the music scene in berlin since the mid 90ties as reggae guitarist/songwriter/live-act/artist/producer/dj. his first experiments in electronic music started in 1998 with some friends in hamburg, followed two years later by his first ep release called &#8243,,,,,herr pitzelberger dreht auf” for the berlin based label shitkatapult. since then fenin has released several eps and albums for his homies shitkatapult as well as 12&#8243,,,,,, s and remixes for labels like echocord, revolver, eintakt and mitek among others. along the years he could boast collaborations with artists such as deadbeat, mikael stavostrand, d-meteo, k.j. gibbs,horace andy, der dritte raum, eraldo bernocchi and jeff milligan. since 2008 he runs also his own label called dock-records. soundwise, fenins productions range from roots reggae/dub pieces to cordish/melodic techno sets and electronic alike soundscapes. the future is unwritten.
