the shapeshifters’ studio mastery and dedication to his craft has resulted in singles that stand up alongside golden era disco records as much as they sound fresh on dancefloors today. his rich relationship with glitterbox has yielded instant classics that epitomise the label’s ethos for preserving disco’s mission to uplift and empower, especially with his latest release and debut collaboration with the grammy, tony and emmy award-winning billy porter, ‘finally ready’. now, another of the label’s nearest and dearest, dimitri from paris, steps up to remix the shapeshifters’ latest on a special 7” vinyl package. co-written with billy as a declaration of pride, dimitri adds his signature stylish flare onto the suitably theatrical original. split into two parts, pt. i on the a-side keeps billy’s unmistakable vocal at centre stage, with funk-fuelled organ chords and rich keys bringing dimitri’s sound of paris. on the flip, pt. ii is a more stripped back version, allowing the classic disco instrumentals to really shine, as a previously unheard and powerful spoken-word vocal from billy narrates along with improvised vocals taken from the studio recordings. expertly crafted and brimming with emotion, the joyful message of ‘finally ready’ rings true through billy’s lyrics on both mixes, as dimitri from paris brings a new dimension to this dancefloor essential.

2020 repress - the first ever 7inch vinyl release from glitterbox recordings is a very special double whammy from the shapeshifters featuring the undeniable voice of teni tinks. the double single features the brand new track try my love (on for size), a re-imagining of the sharon redd disco anthem from 1980. with fresh horns, strings and arrangements produced by simon marlin of the shapeshifters and a sublime new vocal recorded by teni, its as life-affirming and uplifting as a dancefloor belter can get. teni is a session vocalist and arranger who has worked with the likes of rudimental, quincy jones, the jacksons and emeli sande, and has recently been bringing down the house with live pas at glitterbox. working initially with the shapeshifters on when love breaks down he second single on this 7inch package in late 2017, this release showcases in full the stunning results of their collaboration.

dj t-1000 drops 4 classic hard-edged cuts of pure detroit techno on third ear. born and raised in detroit and based in berlin dj t-1000 is alan oldham, owner of detroit labels generator and pure sonik, and a gifted techno dj. also an accomplished graphic illustrator, known globally for his iconic artwork for djax-up-beats, +8 records, transmat, astralwerks and many other electronic music labels, including third ear. alan did the artwork for the defenders of the deep house world ep curated by mike huckaby, and he has done the artwork for his third ear ep also.

if you have even got a passing interest in house music, there is very little chance that frankie knuckles name has escaped you. starting off as a clubber in the new york disco scene—his first job was to spike the punch at nicky sianos now legendary the gallery gatherings—frankie soaked up the knowledge passed down to him from his good friend larry levan, and managed to secure a residency alongside the paradise garage luminary at the citys continental baths.

the next release on the shapeshifters nocturnal groove label sees b. slade team up production duo frankie knuckles and eric kupper (aka directors cut), creating a slice of euphoric, anthemic vocal house music guaranteed to light up 2012s dance floors.

released as a 2 x 12 inch with the full length 11 track cd album shrink-wrapped. the vinyl features 4 brand new remixess from the album.this album represents the peak so far of the lads technical skills, its carefully produced from start to finish. tracks are frequently tied together, and a lot of thought has gone into the flow of the album. this is one that can be listened too from beginning to end, as opposed to a collection of singles. however that doesnt mean that state of mind have forgotten about the 3am raver. almost all of the tracks have all been smashing it up world wide over the last 6 months in their own right. collaboration wise, the album features several of nzs most talented vocalists including shapeshifters p.digsss, thomas oliver, sacha vee, mc woody & pnc, as well as american singer 3pm. the only production collaborators are nymfo and dnme. several other collaborations were planned for the lp, but in the end were unable to fit. these will be released as bonus tracks.
