its not often you hear a techno record produced by a total of five people. when it happens, it’s usually to mark a passage and make a statement. sometimes it is a matter of celebrating a rita of passage, a shift into maturity and the embodiment of a new skin. this is what repitch is doing with the fourth and final installment in their “features” series, reuniting all the crew for the the final blast of what’s been a long and massive barrage of heavy techno. this is the collaboration to end them all: repitch founders ascion, d. carbone and shapenoise have shared the studio with longtime allies and. together, they explore a common ground made of pounding metallic percussions, gutwrenching bass and thick, furious grooves, with each producer bringing his own peculiar contributions to the table. this last installment marks the end of a process that accompanied repitch throughout its whole existence, thus enhancing the beginning of a new chapter in the label’s creative output.

its now the turn of shapednoise for features series, and to complete this ep made of pure adrenaline theres the remix of the well known dino sabatini (outis music,sonic groove, prologue). shapednoise, one of the youngest and most promising artists of the techno scene, is based in berlin, fully living the repitch recordings project. his musical background is really wide, and you can notice it listening to his productions, a futuristic vision of the sound, with industrial elements and synthesizers characterizing his sonority. the second act of the series starts with white light white head: an out of ordinary track, an unusual beat, techno futuristic, that flows into a neo-industrial sound, with soundscapes that make it mental, but at the same time a post-apocalyptic dancefloor hit. dino sabatinis version hypnotizes us, manipulates shapednoises sounds las only he can do, with his incomparable personality, rhythmics and drone evolving until the end of a trip to the edge of reality. cosmic landscapes (the tiltle already tells a lot), is a track with very powerful rhythmics, for the lovers of straight-techno. shapednoise, an artist to absolutely keep an eyes on this year. also this time the artwork of pasquale ascione makes its part: surreal, unique, making you wondering where this faces come from, maybe from our dreams.features series is a whole of musicalities where images and imaginary interpenetrate. supported and played by norman nodge, perc, samuli kemppi, jonas kopp, marcel dettmann, adam x, tommy four seven, lucy, dvs1, pfirter and many others!

we meet a new project, cool, and damn techno. design concept and sounds that rather than being projected towards europe, appear to come from europe, more precisely from somewhere dark and cold in the north of the continent. but no! the minds that conceived the project are all italian and lie along a line connecting cities like palermo and naples, at least for the moment. because as you might expect from the country s brain drain ... the releases, starting with the first (which will appear in the catalog as 000), will be all vinyl.

dys functional electronic music is a compilation release from repitch recordings, celebrating the label’s first five years. its ambivalent title aims to represent the sonic behaviour of its content, often deviating from norms or distancing itself from common club functionalism. for this release, the 3 repitch masterminds ascion, d. carbone and shapednoise are joined by a selection of the artists who contributed shaping the repitch sound throughout the years, along with guests that inspired them in this adventure. during the past 5 years the main focus of the label was to set up a platform for experimentations across the dancefloor canon, establishing a standout musical identity. a spirit that resonates within each artist’s personal approach: from ascion’s dark breakbeats to the exaltics and and’s acid frontalism, shapednoise’s brooding noise, sote’s fractured rave, d. carbone and gaja’s intrusions into melody, pinch and the zenker brothers’ dub-infused atmospherics, skudge’s love of gloom and nuel’s idm-ish minimalism

heated heads delves into another dark corner of the american experiment, this time via the lone star state. graig clouse s shit & shine project has been a mainstay of the underground for well over a decade, having released unique sides for legendary labels like rhode island s load, riot season, gangsigns, powell s diagonal imprint, rocket recordings, conspiracy outta belgium and the inimitable editions mego, to name but a few. for this 12-, $&$ has invoked the ghosts of cb radio via the us trucking fraternity - 4 cut n shut jams that defy regular definition. backed so far by the likes ron morelli (l.i.e.s), the trilogy tapes, bill converse, jon k, nina (golden pudel), shapednoise

black country overlord justin k broadrick (jesu, godflesh) blesses regis’ downwards fiefdom with two tracks and a tightly sprung rework by surgeon. downwards have really picked the foulest iterations of a grim set for vinyl release, inscribing the industrial-strength torque of nothing is free - which sounds like early kode 9 battered by shapednoise - at 45rpm across the front face, and branding the knuckling 808 snares and distended electro bass blow out of kontorted on its backside. surgeon’s remix of the title tune ranks among his best in many years. trace elements of the original are extruded thru modular kit and remodelled on a bouncing, swerving techno chassis recalling bmb and cub classics, but streaked with sirens and vamped by a marching brass refrain that’s just spoiling for war. the release marks a long overdue overlap between downwards’ and broadrick’s interrelated industrial, noise and techno circles. broadrick was the original drummer for napalm death on their scum (1987) album, before forming the legendary godflesh, and carving out an oeuvre as one of the most feared and respected musicians to emerge from birmingham and the uk ever since.
