swiss artist and veteran producer ripperton contacted the esp institute out of the blue mid-2017 to share a gorgeous mix of self-produced material, a collection of pieces made without any agenda outside of representing the self, not geared toward the dancefloor or a specific environment but simply a bi-product of introspective exploration. we were floored, the mix was on constant repeat in our world for weeks, then was subsequently pulled apart into separate titles to form this beautiful double lp, ripperton’s debut with the label. the title sight seeing speaks of someone stepping outside their current reality to look in the mirror, as if to ground themselves and keep sight of who they are in a world of extreme highs and lows. inspired greatly by expansive landscapes and views from airplane windows (imagine your commute flying over the alps every weekend), ripperton describes this collection as postcards to himself, messages from his subconscious recorded on tape (both conceptually and literally), melancholy soundtracks to the mondays that follow weekend journeys. while musical genres tend to cycle through bandwagon moments, the esp institute strives to operate independently of these, and while sight seeing is undoubtably an ambient album, we’re simply proud to revel in the chance moment where an esteemed artist such as ripperton spreads his wings in a beautifully unexpected mode of expression.

ripperton with a big track on his own new tmq (tamed musiq) label. show me is a deep emotive bassline driven track slowly building up. some touches of early detroit combined with great production skills. comes with a powerfull remix by ghostek! bonus b2 track is slightly more melodic and detroit-ish and actually equaly good as the a1 track.

>where are you now< was originally released in 2009 as the second release on best works records. a track in which lodemanns 90ies house-music knowledge is combined with the sounds of today always keeping the equilibrium between a classic american house-feel and berlin-ortientated somewhat minimal influence. of course the track also clearly shows lodemanns typical dramatic changes. the track became an underground hit over the years with a lot of people doing their own edits. we decided to re-release it with some remixes by some of our favorite artists incl. jimpster and ripperton. both managed to interpret the original vibe in their own way.

it has been half a year since we released the last max cooper ep on traum, so his new finished ep comes in handy for all of his fans and people interested in the grey zone of techno vs. electronica. max coopers new release the >egomodal ep< comes as a 4 tracks ep and adds up to a great piece of music. once again it focuses on dynamics and tangents, along with the concept of complexity and simplicity. the >egomodal ep< stays true to max coopers approach to link a mathematical structure with a simple one. we are happy to say he has succeeded to fuse complexity with variations by still finding time to focus on details and keeping up that nice randomness which makes his music so appealing also for clubbers and djs.
this release is extremely diverse in styles and offers in its vinyl version everything from the dark detroit electro styled techno piece >epitaphy< that evokes old detroit days… to the melodically trembling >autumn haze< that is a huge track because its flow is superbly programmed ... to rippertons mighty house hymn of a remix, ending in the basseline monster >raw< which looses its teeth towards the end.

altogether lost is a collaboration between the bristol based experimental techno duo emptyset and the detroit vocalist cornelius harris aka atlantis from underground resistance. inspired by an early 20th century poem of mystical heritage, the project marks the first ever joint production by these three major capitals of electronic music and is backed up by a very friendly and creative label partnership between emptysets label multiverse and clr from berlin/germany where both labels are going to release different versions of remixes of the original in a mutual promotion and release approach. clr started this series with the release of the stunning original and a slamming remix by chris liebing and now follows up with a ben klock remix and a very deep and atmospheric interpretation by ripperton.

after hearing this release, one could ask himself why deetron and ripperton never did something together before?! with their debut together for music man they deliver two tracks dancing on the thin cord between deep techno and house. a true blinder!

strong remixes package here from josh wink and ripperton. previous single releases >alsace & lorraine<, >sleeper< and >dangly panther< on freerange caused a big stir and notched up excellent sales, with >dangly panther< being nominated for best dance single 2008 in the coveted dj mag best of british awards.

after ellen alliens album >dust< kicked up a lot of the same in 2010, it was only a matter of time until the right remixers for the album were found. no less than the creme de la creme of today s house scene was allowed to have their way with these tracks. and the results are more than fitting. although we have already burned a full-length cd containing all of the remixes they created, we are not planning on leaving the vinyl-loving faction (or whats left of them) out in the cold either. this 12 inch features three powerful club tracks from three outstanding remixers. each unrivalled in their own space.

french house legend i:cube ( at peace ) and berlin based producer mark august ( the sandbox ), have created two, quite outrageously brilliant masterpieces.

green could not have found a finer match. the melodic genius of ripperton is wonderfully sculpted by the uk producer, who delivers not one, but two remixes. part 1 sees radio slave taking leonor s lanugo on a deep, hypnotic workout. its warm, all encompassing bassline works brilliantly with its tribal drum line to deliver a deadly take on the original. on part 2 radio slave takes a housier direction. rock solid beats are interwoven with the original s beautiful string melody as bird calls and wild cats prowling add to the incredible suspense to create an inspiring remix.
