seven years ago, unbalance created his own label as a base for his musical ideas, a platform to play around with the conception of what -techno- is and would be alongside his own creative progression. come to present day and the label is now at its ninth release, reaching a point where the line of accumulated experiences must be drawn in the sand — and the experiences of previous projects and releases lead to venerable conclusion. enter ten, an album of internalized strife that was created during a period of big changes in the artist s life. between enduring personal experiences, his creative output veering between his straightforward club eccentricities and subdural sensibilities, unbalance cultivates a symbiotic link between sounds played and sounds portrayed — whilst paying tribute to the essence of groove, vibration and the hypnotic unknown that exists to balance the scales. this album will be the final point in the label s journey into the depths of multifaceted techno music.

jaki liebezeit, der masterdrummer, hatte seine freude an der tatsache, dass der trommelbau seit menschengedenken sich nicht wesentlich verändert hat. ob ein fell jetzt mit schnüren oder mit schrauben auf dem kessel gespannt wird, ob es ein natur- oder plastikfell ist - das prinzip bleibt dasselbe: beide umschließen einen hohlraum, ohne den es keinen klang gäbe (man stelle sich eine trommel vor, die innen drin mit lehm gefüllt wäre.) so ähnlich ist auch die rhythmus-auffassung. das Überflüssige fällt weg. dir leere mitte erscheint. das unsichtbare ist das entscheidende. alle stücke auf der zweiten ep von drums off chaos kreisen um diese leere mitte. im zentrum ist - nichts. hier geht es um abstrakte, groovende trommel-musik. die rhythmen sind so weit auf ihren elementaren kern reduziert, dass sie zwar eindeutig singulär, aber auch allgemeingütig verstanden werden können. es kommt etwas zum vorschein, das allgemeinen gesetzen wie gravitation, ergonomik und akustik folgt. „spiel, was die trommel will,“ war einer von jakis sätzen. das hat drums off chaos sich mit ihm zusammen zu herzen genommen. im zentrum stehen rhythmen, die auf einfachen zahlenverhälnissen gründen, um ihren reichtum aus sich selbst heraus zu entfalten.

nanni and francois le roy are both accomplished producers and djs in their own right. together as ruff stuff they make extremely well produced tracks that always have one thing in common – making dancefloors go crazy. after starting their own vinyl-only imprint (ruff stuff music) with four fully sold out releases, we are excited to get four banging disco house heaters that work equally well as dj tools and at a house party.

white on white is an absorbingly dynamic, multi-layered album of improvisations made on the seminal ppg wave synth, inspired by the work, life and theories of the great, if forgotten, british constructivist artist marlow moss (1889-1958): a radical, gender-bending british jewish lesbian and innovator of non-figurative art who was a then-contemporary influence on piet mondrian, with whom she worked alongside from the late 1920s as part of the abstraction-creation artists association in paris, until the nazi’s forced her from mainland europe back to england, where she settled in the far west of cornwall.

reflex in waves brings together a series of sonic approaches manning has been developing for over a decade. specifically, manning’s work is concerned with waves and the impacts of their resulting vibration. quietly producing audio works out of his studio in yeronga, on the south side of brisbane city, manning’s works are based on a series of deeply personal instrument designs, tape manipulation and other exploratory approaches. his instruments, which are often percussive, use harmonically related materials that are activated by motor-driven strings. the resulting sound is a chaotic but pulse-like cluster of harmony.

recorded while gerald was in jamaica working on a project with lee perry in 1980. the master tapes of the four tracks that were recorded at the harry j sessions were only recently discovered. utopia was the only track that had been given a final mix back in the day. it was released on 7- on the black star liner later in the year and then reissued on partial records in 2014. the other tracks were never mixed until early 2017 when this task was undertaken by dougie wardrop. as well as mixing jerusalem (gerald did a later version of this tune for rej forte s jah works label in the early 1990s), working for the dollar and constant spring , it was decided that utopia should also enjoy a fresh mix.

reissue of eblen s fourth album, wonderful experimental music here. tip! mexican guitarist and ambient artist eblen macari s música para planetarios (music for planetariums) was originally composed for weekly performances in the luis enrique erro planetarium in mexico city to accompany a voyage through the galaxy. the album, released in 1987 was based around macari s solo performances using ensoniq esq-1, a korg poly 800, two guitars and pre-hispanic ocarinas. the expanded arrangements recorded for the album include a full stable of pre-hispanic percussion and beautiful baroque harpsichord played by macari s wife. this expansive interplanetary soliloquy is undoubtedly macaris masterpiece. remastered from the original master tapes

following on from hashman deejay debuting his studio mody moniker as the first release on the newly formed sideline label headed up by salik, comes the second release by going good favourites e. corre and s. letelier (nummer) under a new alias detroit syndrome ... the label is keeping to the 3 track, low key presentation of the first release, with the focus being directed towards the music and continuing with a series that attempts to bring out a style that the artists may not necessarily be associated with. the direction given to the artists from the label is simple - do whatever you like, with the dance floor and longevity of music in mind.

soul jazz records’ are releasing their long-out-of-print album ‘hustle! reggae disco’ in a new expanded 2017 edition which now features five extra tracks.

art pop meets mongolian throat singing, blade runner meets walter carlos (clockwork orange), tom dissevelt and kid baltan (bowie’s favourite band) meet tame impala. the fifth album from marsmobil has been hailed by many as their best yet. with closer ties to “minx” (2006) than the last two albums, “fairytales of the supersurvivor” returns to marsmobil’s signature strength of wondrously brilliant songs (“and the fishes in the ocean”, “shadows of the inner light”) that blend off-the-wall cinemascope sounds with dazzling beats and punchy, powerful hooks to create uniquely distinctive art pop anthems. as always with marsmobil, roberto di gioia writes, plays, sings and programs everything himself. here, as on “minx”, he’s brought in support from a fabulous singer – the very wonderful amber lin, who contributes vocals on four songs. all the cover illustrations are also by di gioia.

first ever vinyl remastered reissue of this sought-after synth-pop /cosmic disco / funk / boogie album from 1983! lots of vocoder, analogue synths & keyboards, heavy drum machines, spacey vocals, bossa / brazilian touches, cosmic effects. the rah band was the brainchild of legendary english producer & arranger richard hewson. they debuted in 1977 with the cosmic glam hit the crunch, on which richard, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, played all the instruments himself. in 1983, he released going up the second rah band album, where he also played most of the instruments himself, helped by several drummers, a brass section and the sweet vocals of his wife liz hewson. including massive club classics like messages from the stars, perfumed garden and more.

the music for this release was a process of literal catharsis, a purging of a build up of negative thoughts and emotions, but the music is also designed to be confrontational. the intent is to challenge mediocrity, to ask questions about the whole notion of techno as merely a form of debauched escapism. the music also asks questions about destructiveness and apathy. the aim is for something with meaning, as opposed to transience. our demons are your contentments- catharsis is the result of the meeting and collaboration between veteran techno producer -heretic- and dark ambient producer -emission-. the project is a quest to explore and purge negative thoughts via music. a modern ascetic experience in the pursuit of inner peace.
