wilted woman returns to one of her homes at primitive languages with a follow up to the coveted cassette release “fluid”. on “watching the psycho”, she offers three tracks of condensed rhythmic gestures that tightly encapsulate various aspects of her wide-cast palate.
with recent 12” releases on she rocks and alien jams, this 7” release carves out a smaller aural territory for the listener to meditate upon. another wonderful chapter in the singular makers repertoire.

this album has been many years in the making. around 2005 we were gigging, playing hip hop breaks and supporting acts like krs-one and raekwon. we wrote a lot of our own material, but we never properly recorded it in a studio, we did however make lots of -one mic- recordings onto a mini-disk player. tom kept hold of all of these recordings and in 2011 send copies of everything to the rest of the band. a short list of 30 were chosen to record properly. a basic studio was booked, and recording began, initially it was pretty basic, just drums, bass & keys with guitars overdubbed the following day. with these foundation rhythm tracks tom went away and edited them, creating structure, extra layers and demo mixes. these demo mixes were used to send to mcs. it was decided to go with american mcs as the type of thing we listened to when we wrote a lot of our material was classic 90s hip hop. el da sensei & sadat x were the first to respond to our request, and soon features were flying through ever other week. we actually had enough material for 2 albums, but picked what we wanted to represent our first release and continued to develop the material, including adding session musicians for harps, brass, strings and cuts. we chose 4 tracks to create videos for and got the ball rolling with various video makers. the final year was spent mixing, sequencing and deciding on artwork. the title cinder hill is reference to where the band spent many afternoons practicing at john & joe’s parent’s house, their mum maggie passed away in 2016 and the album is dedicated to her for her endless support and love for the music.

the artists and inventors, along with the many other notable composers present on this 2lp compilation, are the true innovators in the sounds and science of electronic music and its production. they are the ones responsible for the dawn of a much revered genre, the originators of the musical concepts that have since developed into what we now know as electronica and dance. these are the true pioneers of electronic music.

introducing ideaz, two skilled beat-makers discovered by cold busted, hailing from within the funky heart of russia. marat and nicolay make their ideaz debut with motion capture, a fantastic 15-track album that showcases the laid-back, blunted flavor of the duos rhythmic constructions. jazzy samples, vinyl pops, and crafty scratches abound as the album speaks the universal language of the instrumental hip-hop head-nod. “every day” hypnotizes with its funky handclap stomp, quick guitar riffs, and fleeting splashes of vocal. a gentle approach is revealed on “blossom fell”, featuring a dreamy female vocal hook, slowly tremolo’ed electric piano chords, and an overall air of wistfulness. “lines” brings ideaz into futuristic funk territory as its loping cut-up beat, abstract synth melodies, and ascending bass line imagine a robot dance-off on a year 2054 episode of soul train. those are just a few of the highlights to be found on motion capture.

the first release from naissance musik (nm) is a 12” vinyl from the super-group dream scoring (hear and hakim murphy) entitled images of a myth. it is comprised of 4 tracks. a myth is a legendary story that a community validates to explain part of its reality. however any member or group within the community can have his or her own version of the myth, and the myth can also evolve through time. we may all listen to the same track but this track still calls up intimate images for each and every one of us. a myth is full of adventure and mystery, it is epic and full of emotions. it can be anything from the lost ark to greek gods fighting. the aim is to fill our bodies and minds with emotions. the main idea is to tell stories like books or movies, but through musical notes & rhythm. the music makers provide the musical image, the listeners create the myth. and vice-versa.
