we present the first in a series of re-issues with >a deeper ground ep< by repeat orchestra, originally released in 2000. needless to say, it sounds no less fresh ten years later. the four-track ep is the work of stefan schwander under the repeat orchestra name. in his repeat orchestra work, schwander distills the finest elements of detroit techno and chicago house into a sleek hybrid that honours its roots while casting its gaze upon the future.

repeat orchestra (aka stefan schwander aka antonelli electr., rhythm maker, one half of the duo swimmingpool as well as being behind >a rocket in dub<) returns with another 12inch in his purest form of his electronic soul, based around live-performances, orchestral instrumentations and deep house. in a post-modern manner, the >asafa chords ep< operates differently as opposed to the standard sampling clichès of standard house-tunes that we hear on each and every street corner these days. the two pieces follow a minimal yet above the norm musical approach, with tricky and advanced rhythms and a strong groove that lets the listener dive deeper into the world of a one-man-band, who likes to express his version of afro-futuristic housemusic by bringing deep chords, live-played strings and lots more of his personal flavour into his production. . the result is a warm and wonderfully musical expression on the dancefloor that will guaranteed stand out from the rest.

dj aakmael is a producer weve been loving for many years and were proud to be presenting you with his freerange debut. the us artist has had consistent releases dating back to 2004 and has graced the discographies of many a fine label including uzuri, earthrumental, kolour ltd, his own unxpozd entertainment and most recently the hotly tipped uk label church. here on his daydreeming ep were treated to four original tracks of real house music produced by a true original of the underground. kicking off we have daydreeming with muscular beats laying the foundation for some widescreen orchestral strings and off-kilter and subtly deranged torchsong vocals. rimbaudian steps up for the remix following what for us, is one of the tracks of 2016, werka 8 from his meda fury release. the swedish producer brings a very fresh approach with a loopy and hypnotic techno edge which draws you in with its repeating vocal and trippy sinewave melodies. flipping over we have basement 2 which drops the tempo slightly for a more heads down detroit-inspired jam. a simple three note synth repeats throughout while moody pads bring the deep heat resulting in a track that you could get lost in for days. beacot road closes the ep in fine style with introspective filtered piano chords providing the magic on this simple, stripped back track, the whole thing sounding somehow blunted like its being beamed through a thick haze of ganja smoke. enjoy, and please show your support for dj aakmael!

first on decks.de!!! hija de colombia is putting out its second release in the middle of november. after great dj, radio and press reactions on its first release - >loco suenos ep<, there was no need to change much. el nino andres is again the artist, but the music he provides for this releases is a step further in deepness of tech house. anton kordic, who records under the name el nino andres, provides the somophore release, a two track fusion of south american, detroit and berlin influences. title track is a intensive orchestral affair, going for full 14 minutes of drums, big piano hooks and sax layers. b side >illmatico< is a percussion monster, that builds under a catchy organ melody. the cycle repeats every 2 minutes, and tracks subtly builds layers and layers of rhythm.

big twelve from us label slant featuring glasgow s edit select and alex smoke. label owner let s go outside supplies the b-side.slant s fourth 12 yields two mighty pieces of techno. one side is let s go outside s epic valentino , the other is the absolutely wicked the retainer from edit select and alex smoke. all the criteria for a classic split are met and well exceeded here.the pairing of edit select and alex smoke is simply brilliant. the a side s the retainer is crowd control. alex s signature vocal cut ups and chugging percussion layered atop edit select s hypnotic, repetitive style make for a true techno masterpiece.on the aa side, let s go outside throws down a deep, seductive, tough cut with valentino . airy pads float atop pulsing bass and a subtle, driving orchestra of percussion and static. the entire piece slowly ebbs before crashing down, repeating, the pace deliberate and guided by soft words about first loves.

nice price deal !!! this second release from glasgows fortified recordings is a departure in sound from their first acclaimed ep by dundees loops haunt, but all the same in attitude. iranian born, texas residing garagesmith vvv uses his late night musical tests to forge and perfect his sonic output, and deploys a range of techniques not normally found in the often formulaic world of garage and dubstep. this patchwork quilt of laced beats, field recordings and intensive sample editing has made manifest a four track ep that simultaneously references the work steve gurley, todd edwards, carl craig, my bloody valentine, the cocteau twins and roy davis junior via the bastardised strains of 2-step and house practiced by the likes of ramadanman, untold and joy orbison, peppered with that magic elusive el_b swing that only the greats are able to achieve. at the same time familiar yet different (how many times have you heard that?), the four tracks on projects kick with the intensity of the best club music and invokes the cosmic spirit of classic motor city techno with an uplifting and deep soulful vibe that reveals layers of orchestrated natural sound upon repeated listens. in other words, its sexy as fuck. slated for an official release early march , one can only assume this limited 12inch will fly off the shelf much like fortified s inaugural release did
