having produced some stellar jams for labels like somethink sounds, and giles petersons brownswood, eliphino aka tom wrankmore, debuts for hypercolour this autumn, opening up the labels new term with this solid two track release. i dont care opens the account, all chopped up rnb vox and rolling beats, wrapped up in a super smooth melody. already road tested by the hypercolour firm over the last few months, this deep garage vibe hits the sweet spot for sure. on the flip, understand further plunders eliphinos love of rugged garage beats and an ear for a catchy hook. a feverish interplay of vocal chops, keys and organ stabs keeps up the ante, with some decidedly trancey synth parts ramping up the 90s house influences here, and once again a cut that most definitely brings the heat to the dancefloor.

perception productions, a new york based label that ran from the late 60s through until 1974, was a strangely eclectic affair. its roster stretched from a radical afro-american poet through to the pop band king harvest whose hit ‘dancing in the moonlight’ became a massive hit for the uk band toploader a couple of decades later. the inbetween points covered jazz, funk, vocal harmony soul and proto-disco.

march sees the formidable hypercolour deliver its most surprising output yet, an ep from none other than groove armada. tom findlay and andy cato need little introduction as groove armada. chart smashes, huge live tours and being part of the worldwide electronic music history aside, the duo have never lost touch with their acid house roots and have continued to be devoted to record buying, djing and the much maligned promo trawl. tom and andy have been avid followers of the label it seemed, since its inception. it was through label head jamie, meeting the guys back in 2010 at space in ibiza, and then continued communication via hypercolour promos, that led to an out-of-the-blue email requesting an informal hook up in east london and, within just a few days, a release was scheduled. that release is the >no knock ep<, four tracks that range from 808 fuelled old school cuts to low slung, moog-bassd electronic funk. each sound is lovingly crafted but there is an analog rawness throughout and every track has the sort of tweaked, off-kilter and occasionally awkward vibe that hypercolour do so well. it just takes a bit of imagination to guess what a ga release on hypercolour should sound but failing that, just check the release out as it wont disappoint.

kresy should not be a stranger for those who have been following hivern for the last couple of years. real name alejandro rodriguez,this young producer from asturias landed in the label with many man (incl in hivern a lestiu ii), a track that wisely matched deep-house dynamics with hip-hop vocals to become a quite unexpected underground floor-burner, getting regular plays by the likes of four tet or john talabot. now, were thrilled to introduce you lords of percussion his first fully own release on the label and first-ever vinyl output.

brand new huxley on the currently on fire hypercolour label, it is modern uk house with a bass heavy twist to it, very much in the same vain as recent scuba productions. on the flip is a remix from the talented eats everything. a fine follow up to the recent kevin mcphee release on this label.

percusa is back in 2011 with special colours, hot tunes and the third va ep! this time we start again with tracks from our greek label-mates v. sexion and bodj, also on board the mannheim duo sasch bbc & caspar, rounded up with the first release from jules & moss.

part 1 is a oldschool jackin house track with some minimal touch. a peculiar bassline, some good hi-hats and hypnotic vocals. danceflloor bomb! part 2 is a deeper mix of part 1, based on the same bassline. it has a slower groove and a softer kick. amazing second chapter for the supercharged story. nuit blanche is a down tempo track full of surprises. totally killer!
