to say the past 2 years have been busy for peggy gou would perhaps be an understatement. prolific both in the studio and behind the decks, 2016 saw the release of no less than four eps across three labels. her two-part ‘art of war’ series on rekids was interspersed with a contribution to ‘phonica white’ series of 12”s.
laying solid foundations in the underground through 2016 and 2017, peggy gou is poised to blow up in 2018. in april she will make her debut at the 2018 coachella valley music and arts festival in california, but she is kicking off the year in impeccable style with a resident advisor podcast, closing her mix with stunning new single ‘it makes you forget (itgehane)’ lifted from her forthcoming ep “once” for ninja tune (due on 2nd march 2018).

rekids begins 2016 with the launch of an exciting new talent. south korea-born dj and producer peggy gou has been honing her production skills since her days in london. now based in berlin, gou has drawn on her years of djing to help shape a sound that draws on detroit & nyc house, as well as the african rhythmic sensibility and boogie funk influences she shares with early sounds duo nu guinea, with whom she had piano lessons and sought production advice from as her music took shape. in addition to her work as a stylist and fashion producer, gou has also drawn on her art & design abilities to create the ep artwork.
after strong releases by jerome sydenham, guti, martin buttrich and the esteemed label leaders the martinez brothers, here we have remixes of stec and chris martinez own out put by first team players. mathew johnson gives us an energetic analogue workout. peggy gou gives us a wistful version of ‘h2 da izzo’ with retro drums, lush strings to give us a straight up, classic house cut. this is also tackled by mayaan nidim who gives us a stripped back, refined take as you would expect from a perlon artist. dj deeon takes on the buoyant ‘stuff in the trunk’ with miss kittin’s playful vocals.
