DARK WORLD
12 Inch
08.06.15
nologo is back with 2 essential, tried and tested underground club tracks. orlando b serves up side a with dark world, an epic, slow burning, dark-house journey. dark world begins completely stripped back before the main hook, an eerie hypnotic vocal is introduced. funky percussive elements creep in which drive the piece forward and a deep minor pad heightens the tension setting the tone for the rest of the track. the energy builds gradually with the addition of a 303 bass line peaking just before the end, taking the listener on a dark hypnotic trip. on the flip, is none other than house & techno legend mr g who uses the dark world vocal but takes it somewhere new providing his own unique and distinctive flavour. mr gs rum remix is a dark and twisted peak-time banger, the high energy from the off set perfectly complementing the slower vibe of the original. plenty of sub and twisted synth action keeps the momentum high and the dark stab he uses punctuates the vocal nicely giving it a raw edge. dark world is an essential addition to the record bag for darker dancefloors. dj deep: i love this, your remix is super funky and dark at the same time!!! dope! tom (panorama bar): ufff nice and dark.....another mr g gem. to be served with the rum rush...
CITY LIFE EP

detroit house at its best. amazing high tech jazz influenced 4 tracker by orlando b. after hearing orlando bs 2 full eps on germanys yore records, ric mcclelland & sean grieve head hunted the scottish producer for their seven music label. orlandos first outting on the belfast imprint was at the start of 2012 with a remix of giorgio luceris >one more time<. not content with just a remix, seven music asked orlando for some original works and here we have the >city life ep<. 4 tracks of chicago and detroit inspired goodness! the scottish producer and dj started making music at the age of 15 using an atari and notator sl. inspired by artists such as jeff mills, the advent, dave clarke and ian pooley, orlando began his career making techno. fast forward to 2012, orlandos studio is predominantly analogue based and his sounds have progressed to a deeper and more retrospective house sound. with 4 original tracks (1 of which is exclusive to the 12inch vinyl) the >city life ep< is arguably orlandos finest work to date. timeless yet forward thinking electronic music with soul and a record that deserves a place in any discerning djs collection!

on orlando britains follow-up to his yore debut, >beneath the surface<, the uk producer laid down the new releases material in west london, but its heart and soul lies an ocean away, as the >motor city< track title suggests, britains also got a soft spot for classic house and techno, as evidenced by the title he has given to the thirty-minute ep. his first ep had sold out in seconds and this one, coming in 2 different coloured vinyl versions is expected to disappear even quicker. first very limited pressing comes as white vinyl.

yore returns with the 3rd release on the yore limited series. 300 limited copies in green transparent vinyl. a beauty musically and for the eye. orlando b. favours the kind of funky and raw-sounding techno that flourished during the late-’90s and early-’00s and so naturally invests his maiden voyage on the yore imprint with the same kind of classic soul that renders that earlier era’s sound so appealing. ” beneath the surface ep ” largely focuses on warm house grooves. “a feeling” dishes out eight minutes of classic deep house that’s also as funky as hell. a subtle latin percussion vibe sneaks in at the beginning but quickly enough the tune rolls out a warm house strut that dominates thereafter, piano sprinkles, lush strings, and a crisp, hi-hat-spun groove give the tune added style and flair, as does the insistence of the titular vocal sample. “esoteric” digs into a steamy, bass-driven house beat that’s both raw and funky, then slathers it with a synth solo that squeals with delight, while “new york tale” smoothens its techno core with warm chords and delicious house swing. “mj12″,,,, is the coolest and most techy cut on this diverse four cut ep. orlando b. sprinkling billowing dub chords and a spoken voice sample over a rock-solid tech-house base that will go straight under your skin, when it hits you on the dancefloor. 300 copies left still. go grab yours before it’s too late

new label by mastermind scope. mixup between deep, dreaming, jacking house. the list of involved artist and remixers needs no explanation. a little less than 8 months ago, ric mcclelland & sean grieve launched seven music as an outlet for their own material. in that short space of time, the label has grown dramatically. not only have they released their own material as scope, south west seven and sydney young, but the label has become a home for a wealth of new talent such as sumsuch, chilf, stephen day, replika and giorgio luceri. key players in the scene such as audio soul project, huxley, russ gabriel, ethyl and orlando b have also joined the seven music camp and helped the label continuously build. the label has accomplished a lot in a short space of time and this collection of tracks handpicked from the initial 10 releases is only the 1st chapter for seven music!

from the depts of basque county kastil (mario castillo) is back with bomb ep. after a few releases in the more disco sounding side of music, he is now entering his comfort zone in a sample heavy deep house release which is (although its house music) an ode to jazz music. beautiful yet nostalgic this is a record to cherish.

STEREO PAIR EP

hot four track release of typically sophisticated deephouse cuts from the fine folks at nordic trax. orlando boys latenight society making their nt debut here with this ep,highlighted with the straight up jazzy stomp of back to the bump, which mixes a fat funk bassline with a smooth horn section and some swinging drums. both the main mix and dub have a stripped down appeal that ll work for the heather and inland knights heads. flip for a slick remix from glasgows chris harris and dominic martin who step up the jacking heat, while system exclusive closes out this fine ep with a techy stomper thats a must for the troydon and hipp e heads
