who better to provide our first release from an artist based outside the uk than starkey? having worked with a who s who of grime including trim and p money as well as playing an instrumental part in pushing the sound overseas, no hats no hoods are proud to have starkey at the helm of our 15th vinyl release.always keen to focus on emerging as well as established artists starkey teams up with up and coming mcs merky ace and kozzie on >pc<, whilst delivering a high octane lesson in fluro-grime with the instrumental >peacekeeper< on the flip.
kari guðmundsson aka. hypno hits teal002 with two exciting pieces lying somewhere inbetween dubstep, house and garage. koko is a hypy swingtime-jam ready to make dancefloors go nuts. thrilling percussive variations, deep sub hits and nutty samples. the more soulful, yet experimental analies, draws on hypnos signature percussion. adding sampled vocals, effective kick-drum patternshifts, takes the listener off-guard! truly, a top shelf twelve! dj supporting include: ramadanman / pearson sound, blawan, hackman and dj donga.
instra:mental have completed their debut album and theres no better home for it than their own firmly established label nonplus+. having made a name for themselves over the last few years as avant-garde, forward thinking producers who set trends instead of following, they lay down a full length album showcasing where their productions are at now rather than being a summary of where they have come from.

this is a heavyweight 12 inch from bristols very own dj clipz. he pulls out all the stops and ensures bass bins will shake with this slice of 175 madness. this tune is limited so once it has gone, its gone.
one-sided disc. having relocated back to budapest after his time in the uk, madd has taken the opportunity to team up with fellow countryman and veteran d&b producer chris su, with devastating results. >no respect< has been a permanent feature of youngstas weekly show on rinse fm and has all the hallmarks of a classic yunx anthem - dark, tribal halfstep beats, menacing atmospherics and speaker-test bass manipulation - this is a reliable dancefloor weapon that wont leave the bag for months!
this album is a first for nina simone. it features nina accompanying herself at the keyboeard. there is no instance of overdubbing the organ and some others dubbing her voice and of clapping and tambourines, but in this album everything is done solely by nina simone with no outside help.
deathmachine is the second artist to successfully infiltrate the ranks of the outside agencys groundbreaking crossover label one seven five. this release is reminiscent of some of the outside agencys earlier work on one seven five, and we are not saying that like its a bad thing. in dark energy pounding yet groovy distorted hardcore kicks, topped off with the snappiest of snaredrums, and a fittingly bristish vocal sample make up the ingredients for this stormer that is guaranteed to make even the most stubborn dancefloor bust a move. they hunt us on the flip is a clear nod to deathmachines love affair with drum & bass. he wined it, dined it, and ultimately wrote a song about it. would you like to hear it? here it goes..
support from: the dj producer, counterstrike, the outside agency, ophidian, fracture 4
anyone who has been keeping a close eye on londons vibrant house scene will have noted sundays fuse parties bringing some of the strongest names in house music to its loyal following over the past few years. now, this word-of-mouth underground institution launches its label arm, fuse london with >sagamore/rotondo< by enzo siragusa.
here we have another slice of smooth, bassline dubstep. dub and run are no stranger to producing naughtly little booties and they have done it again with this re-lick of james blakes >no limit to your love<. riddem again!
acid dubstep is born!progressive and full of thin sounds, very trippy music with that follow the line tune,b side the bass not war youll get a breakbeat dubstepp, at the drumstep frontier, very close to the first sens inverse best tunes... slamming record. probably the best sens inverse ever. the record comes with a superb printed sleeve, as usual the sesign is very good. enjoy.

syndrome picks up the pace again with another fat slab of rolling tech business. krone is the one taking the stand and starts off with a steamrolling roller made together with >malsum< we are not alone is one to keep your eyes on. like ghost train you can hear it coming in from miles away rattling along the tracks with the cries of all its zombie passengers inside.dont let this one get you as youll lose your brain.for babylon 21 krone trucks along solo style.. things turn a bit lighter but are all about the groove. like back in the old days before all the sounds got processed to death.. this one keeps it subtle groovy and funky all at the same time!
>the sleepwalking society< comes almost four years after >everything under the sun< the last nostalgia 77 studio album proper in which time benedic lamdin has been busy as producer, engineer, musician and more on projects involving keith and julie tippett, jeb loy nichols, lizzy parks, larry stabbins, alice russell, sara mitra, fringe magnetic, golden age of steam and his own octet. nostalgia 77s fervent fanbase has been clamouring for his return and can now rest assured that it has been worth the wait, as the spoils of those extra-curricular excursions inform a refreshed stylistic palette and intensity on the new lp.

marlon sterling aka equinox cements his reputation as one of the d&b scenes most versatile, single-minded and dextrous beat manipulators on his latest in a long catalogue of brain-bending releases. the incendiary opener to a now infamous equinox & bailey set at technicality in 2003 - >meecha< finally sees the light of day. originally completed in 1996 on an amiga computer, the tune has lost none of its appeal 15 years on and its all the better for the audible crunch on the amen beats. this is one of the very best tunes from equinoxs unreleased dat library, and thats saying something!
>simmer down< ist die erste single aus dem im frühjahr erscheinenden vierten album von nostalgia 77 mit dem titel >the sleepwalking society<, das seine fühler in richtung folk und blues ausstreckt. als sängerin neu an bord ist die unglaublich talentierte josa peit aus berlin.
in 2009 now-again records reissued the natural yogurt band s first platter - away with melancholy. originally released in a limited run of 1000 pieces by gerald jazzman short, those records quickly disappeared and the jazzman himself had no plans to offer another helping. the result? an audience searching for psychedelic music library vibes from the golden era of the 60s and 70s meticulously recreated in the new millennium were left starved. two years later, the band (really former little barrie drummer wayne fullwood and miles newbold) presents to you another platter of delights: tuck in with... the natural yogurt band. with their sophomore album, fullwood and newbold serve up more of what made the natural yogurt bands debut so special: quirky irreverence abounds, but the band has expanded their menu to include influences from around the globe. this album is presented in double 10 inch gatefold lp format in paste-on, thick-cut cardboard case.
how and why these two tracks got pushed so far back in the autonomic release schedule is anyones guess. these two cuts are arguably ascs biggest to date (perhaps with the exception of >the touch<), and two tracks that go a long way in defining the early sound of the autonomic movement. finally they are going to see the light of day however, news that is sure to satisfy the baying hoards of hungry autonomic devotees that have waited so long and so patiently for their release. starkwood is about dancefloor as autonomic has ever gotten and probably will ever get the pounding kick drum, coupled with the rhytmical, shuffling tribal percussion is infectious and guaranteed to get heads nodding and bodies moving. reform is on a totally different vibe altogether with its breathy vocal snippets and detroit-ish synths giving it a silky, sultry feel.
deranged disco metal? gonzo noise-punk firebrands? genre munching mega racket? chaotic noise-hop? here are a band who namecheck motley crue, rick james, pharell williams, slick rick and slayer as well as an increasingly long list of future star bands like need new bodies and sex positions. at 25 (rory atwell) and 19 (sam mehran and devonte hynes) they listen to everything: metal, grime, hardcore, rock, hip hop, pop. its all in there. and boy, can you tell. test icicles sound like bloc party on drugs and in detention. or a parallel universe rancid wired into the touretting energy of early beastie boys. or, indeed, an amalgam of almost everyone you can think of - ever. their newly-recorded album >for screening purposes only< is a screaming, thrashing pedal-to-the-metal hardcore pop freak-out. first single boa vs python was met with astonishing aplomb, the anthemic second single circle square triangle (which contains the fm-heading chorus >we could do with some more poison< repeated over and over again until the listener explodes into pogo mania) will certainly light the fires of many more. whether they sound like snotty skatepunk tykes (whats your damage), the spikey grandsons of the stooges (snowball) or the uk brethren of pantera (catch it!) their debut album is a breathless, exhuberant testament to youths joie de vivre.
for her fourth, and most immediate album so far, juana molina of buenos aires, argentina, has set about capturing her famous blue melodies in a style close to her hypnotic live experience, but with all the immaculate production values we ve come to expect from the creator of the critically acclaimed tres cosas and segundo longplayers. juana molina can, perhaps rather cheekily, be seen as kickstarting the new generation of performers who begin with their core group of instruments and a delay pedal, and take the relatively experimental approach of live sound-looping and manipulation to the pop-concert medium. think kama aina, think animal collective, think kt tunstall even...!
recorded one year after this international trios first release (tima formosa / bt04), >in a flash everything comes together as one there is no need for a subject< presents the entirety of a live performance that took place at superdeluxe, tokyo on january 24th 2010. for their second performance together, the trio opted for an entirely different instrumental configuration. the dark improvisations of >tima formosa< were produced with ambarchis signature electric guitar, o rourke on inside-piano and haino primarily on vocals and electronics. here they form a classic power trio: ambarchi on drums, o rourke on bass and haino on guitar, vocals, electronics and, in one amazing passage, lap steel.
the enigmatic midland brings more joy with his next release on more music, in an experimental workout fusing the intricacies of dubstep with rapturous house sparks and the epic strands of techno, all highlighted by remixes from radio slave and youandewan.
debut release for stareaway, a new project of german >inventor of pop ambient< markus guentner with singer heiko badje, the man behind saudade-driven pop band la grande illusion. following several releases and highly successful and critically acclaimed albums guentner solely released since 2001 for kompakt and ware, guentner and badje contributed their first co-operation >baghira< on kompakts pop ambient 2006 compilation. markus guentners track >regensburg<, considered to be one of the best tracks kompakt ever released, was selected by sven väth to finish his mix of the second season and remixed by wolfgang voigt. for the start of the new hamburg based label couldnt care more they release two melancholic pop ambient tracks, the title track additionally remixed by osunlade, the acclaimed producer, dj and label owner of yoruba records. the both aerial and profound ambient soundscape of >learn how to love me< is waiting patiently, increasing softly while heiko badjes voice shivers with emotions of entreaty and wanting. it is followed by the sublime deepness of >unwise< in which badjes lyrics about love and temptation appear into a vision of pop as atmospheric intensity and disappear into somewhere else. on the b-side the yoruba soul suite reworks the original totally. osunlade is looking for a different kind of deepness, transforming ambient into an epic, floating journey of house music full of light and groove
we kick off 2011 with the latest collaborative plate of bristol-based build badness label boss baobinga cooking up two what-do-you-call-it tracks with one of 2010s breakthrough producers, the man they call hyetal. starting 2010 with a huge punch drunk release alongside shortstuff, hyetal further refined his sound through collaborations with peverelist, and the massive prince-tastic anthem >phoenix< on orca which can be found sitting proudly at number 36 in fact magazines tracks of the year run-down. with some big releases due in 2011, and more velour beats (with julio bashmore) on the way, we are very excited to have him involved in a build release.
ABANDONED SHIP / LAST KISS AT THE PLAINS (10 INCH)
10" Vinyl UK04.03.11
supported by 2562, ben ufo.... knowing looks aka toronto based producer jason hopfner, records for musique risquee, is the co-founder of grain records and is a welcome addition to the wncl stable. abandoned skip is an unashamed dancefloor killer with its hard as hell 2-step beats, irresistible shuffle, swathes of funky electronics and perfectly placed rebel-rousing vocal chants. last kiss at the plains hotel, an epic tale of love and loss, displays a mastery of cut-up production and arrangement that nods as much to bacharach and mantovani as it winks to todd edwards and akufen.
with a sound that no one can quite touch, nor classify, it comes as little surprise that an outside-the-box artist like actress would come into the path of autonomic. the mastermind behind the cult-worshipped werk discs (whose roster includes enigmatic producers lone, lukid and zomby), actress took the electronic spectrum into another direction entirely last year with >splazsh<. released on damon albarns imprint honest jons, >splazsh< brought dynamic hypercolour to the insular greyness that his >hazyville< album captured so well. after his acclaimed debut on nonplus+ in 2010 the astral >machine and voice ep, the intriguing artist returns to the label with >gershwin / harrier attk< bonafide classic to sit in the ranks alongside cybotron, in comes a typically allencompassing, textured four-on-the-floor stomper from actress
