the black void of space ep 00/2 is the second 12 inch from resoes debut album. it consists of two tracks from the album and a remix by no other than don williams of mojuba / wandering & a.r.t.less records. nachhall is a atmospheric track, but still aimed for the floor. the metallic chords and lushfull strings builds up slowly through the track and ends in a pure techno monster like the old school sound of detroit. dubcuttin is resoes expression of a dubstep track, with a more techno kind of edge to it, which goes perfect with early releases of a made up sound / 2562 and martyn. don williams remix is a straight detroit inspired track, with hard stabby chords and filtered fxs that for sure will kill your ears on a proper pa system. if you like deep dub with a twist of detroit, you must check this out.....!

troy pierce, marc houle & magda team up to present their first ever trio release on items & things, >down & out vol 1< - which takes its name from their newly created party series - events that are based around the dark & intimate, off the radar, and under the ground. troy pierce starts things off with >majikal<, introducing the eps dark magic with a climbing bassline, scattering, almost anxious percussion and buoyant sound effects panned throughout. ominous atmospheres and weighted textures produce a cinematic accompaniment to surveyors of uncharted terrain. building a continual tension-and-release cycle, the track is a lucid whirlwind of sonic imagery and trickery, balancing visceral sounds with the otherworldly. magda teams up with suade, a producer & friend from newcastle that we are sure to see more of, together they bring forth a true builder, a creeper, the type of track that reveals itself more with each layering sequence. a masterclass in dynamics, >fixation< is a dark groove thats haunted by a chilling vocal, wavering synth vibrato, unexpected melodies, and juxtaposes of funk. angular drums hit alongside swells of percussive echoes but, the focus of the track revolves around the bassline’s movement. as catchy as it is esoteric. marc houles >slowpe< ends the ep with a slightly slower pace, but in a disconcerting way: taking it down a few notches this one that transports the listener to the strangest dimension yet. filtered melodies start the tracks ascent, sounding like a trumpet thats been bent out of shape and played from the void. with dark textures compactly knit into a condensed wall of sound, a low-slung bassline trades places with eerie chords and sparse percussion

after receiving such a warm reception from those around the world who appreciate timeless electronic sounds, it was only fitting that patrice scotts >analog dreams< would eventually rise again, refreshed, in the form of a remix project. knowing the mixes had to be special while maintaining the authenticity of the original, patrice tapped two of the worlds finest electronic craftsmen for the honor, both hailing from germany - xdb and johannes volk. these talented artists bring forth just enough vibe from the original mix and offer their own unique interpretations, which are sure to delight those with a tasteful ear.

as a member of chairlift, the band he co-founded in 2006 and exited in 2010, aaron pfenning pulled double (and triple) duty – playing multiple instruments, writing songs, producing, and contributing vocals for the band s major label debut. that comfort with musical multitasking – and a cache of songs he d written that didnt fit his main project – made a new solo effort seem like the natural and logical next step to take. pfenning assumed the name rewards (a moniker hes actually used since 2003), spent the better part of last year touring with we are scientists, brandon flowers and warpaint, and released three broodingly romantic singles (>i used to<, >what a loser< and the achingly beautiful >two cardinals<) that made a host of listeners take sudden notice

downwards sidestep expectations again with this glorious limited 10inch vinyl release from tropic of cancer. two beautifully dark compositions that remind slightly of angelo badalamenti in >twin peaks< mode, or maybe reservoir dogs, if it had been filmed with a huge cavern as the soundstage. processed guitar and drones wash swampily over a simple drumbox beat, as eerie snatches of melody float in and out. as badalamenti himself said of his own work, >my (musical) world is a little bit dark... a little bit off-center. i think of it as tragically beautiful. that is how i would describe what i love best: tragically beautiful.< seems to sum this release up quite nicely too...

split secs are alexandre mouracade & tk disko direct from los angeles, california. their name came out of discussion amongst friends about how anything can change in a split second and how much power and effect the smallest detail could have in any song. both fun loving long time djs and avid record collectors, they are putting their years of experience to work with numerous forthcoming releases on labels like on the prowl / nyc, smash hit music co., and much more to be announced very soon. their first ep is released on dj kaos imprint jolly jams out of berlin germany.

it took a while but we finally got this great remix ep together from catz n dogz escape from zoo album. tanner ross flexes his e-funk biceps and shows us that just a little bit goes a long way with huge bass and sparse vox. this remix goes against the grain the right way, showing restraint and power at the same time. the main man of detroit, carl craig also delivers a sparse and beautiful mix, 1st giving us a lesson in how to properly tweak the space echo and then bringing it back with classic strings and subs. both mixes are getting major support from all across the globe from sebo k to troy pierce to ewan pearson to martyn to l-vis 1990 to james zabiela - overall probably the best feedback we had in a while on a record to be honest.. all great for our kids at the detroit youth foundation where the mothership label donates 100% of profits! also, special thanks to matt colton at air studios, london for donating a mastering session for free to cut this record and support our school.

lower east are proud to introduce the highly anticipated second release from alexis raphael. club soundsystems far and wide are still resonating with the sound of his first release on jamie jones and lee foss critically acclaimed label: hot waves. spaceship was a huge deep house hit and received glowing reviews so what better time to introduce his next offering: kitchens and bedrooms. here at lower east we ve gone all out to make this a special package with remixes from, lee foss, richy ahmed and volante, russo and a deeper >sunset< mix from the man himself. encompassing elements of deep house, house, disco and electronica, each mix has its own bold identity but they all fit the lower east mould perfectly. although this is alexis first release on lower east, he is already a key member of its inner circle. alongside cozzy, alexis promotes the much talked about east london event creche. whatsmore, with regular gigs across the capital he is an established member of the london scene.

the focus energy / motive order twelve inch takes seamss lush electronica in a new direction. having captured the essence of the berlin summertime with the tourist ep, seams returns with and altogether more dancefloor orientated release. driven by a desire to make audiences at his live shows dance, a much more propulsive sound manifests itself across the two tracks, both built from the same ingredients but taking them in two very different directions. focus energys minimal percussion and vocal stabs pushes seamss sound further towards the techno production hinted at in hung markets, whereas motive order rearranges focus energys parts into a much more dense wall of sound, filled with arpeggios and noise, evoking the sound of the border community fold.

future perfect are always putting out quality breaks music and for their 20th release leuce rhythms do the honours. these lads have been getting a lot of attention since they started back in 2003 and 2010 was a big year for them. we expect to see a lot more of them this year and watch out for their tour.
