forty six knobs machine by unbroken dub is the first release from nikita zabelins label, resonance moscow. based in the russian capital, the label focuses on electronic music from towns and regions nationwide. unbroken dub is the stage-name of denis safiullin, well known to domestic audiences as a member of the hot wax team. that project comes from the industrial city of tyumen, sometimes called the hydrocarbon heart of russia. winter temperatures in the area can fall below 45c. denis is a long-standing aficionado of analog synths and continues to experiment with all manner of samples. those two trajectories produce a high level of originality, especially when he enlists the support of leading club figures from around the world. denis release for resonance moscow is excellent proof of this bold experimentation. all three tracks on forty six knobs machine use the rokton, an antique soviet drum synth.

i walked by night is a new label created with the ethos that comes from the foundations of any good resident dj, that of good selection. label boss krysko, who has held residencies for over 16 years, brings his experience to his new label. the debut release comes from tristan grace, a uk based artist (aliases - oe & prime time crew). raised propping up record store counters on the south coast since his early teens, now lives pretty isolated from current club culture. nothing beats being in the storm of a dance floor, but being able to step away from the pull and draws of the scene allows him to diarise his occupational exposure through trax. inspiration from the motor city and acid sound lies at the heart of what he does. influenced by rolling green hills, and surrounded by the analog soul of his machines - he has an addiction to vintage machines of asian origin, valves, and its fair to say, he lives his life in 16 step sequence. the furse ep moves across the width of his sound, and this being his debut release on i walked by night, there will be many more to come.

*stranger things* ist eine neue netflix-tv-serie, die gerade in deutschland gestartet ist und international große wellen schlägt. die mystery-serie bietet jede menge referenzen an die 80er jahre, vergleiche zu steven spielberg und stephen king werden gerne gezogen. nicht weniger im fokus: der kongeniale soundtrack von kyle dixon & michael stein. von atmosphärischen stücken bis hin zu treibenden synthie-pop reicht das musikalische spektrum. hier wird gerne eine parallele zu dem score von -drive- gezogen, wohl einem der ikonografischsten soundtracks der letzten jahre.
