argot records was born in 2006 in riccione (italy) from the stable relationship and friendship of the two musicians and djs pepe and giaga. they created it to make their music more freely, without impositions, with an own identity, fascinated on every kind of test.

contemporary italo-disco and foggy rave culture mark margots first 12inch on life and death, amore a bordo pista - a welcomed surprise. machines breathe on a1, where throbbing synth-bass meets timeless vocoder, as premiered on dj tennis essential mix debut. the afterparty and warehouse meld on the flip, a mind-bending time-warp - somewhere between panic and introspection. technicolour signee, dauwd, aces his re-depicton of the title track, hinting at golden-era chain reaction, while kiwi slows down salsce, retaining all of its drive, adding further cosmic brushstrokes. four weapons of the mind, a trippy affair.

releasing timeless music has always been one of the main aims of hivern. sometimes, this purpose asserts itself in curious manners. take margot s moderno , a track made in 2003, several years before the label was born. actually, when pepe and giaga produced the piece for a punk oriented art installation, margot didn t even exist as a project. 14 years later, moderno sounds as fresh and contemporary as it can be. it s one of those cuts that chases a very specific idea with a very unconstrained scheme, that knows exactly where it wants to go, but is not sure about how to get there.

dj ralf is the italian icon who runs the much loved laterra recordings label and management, and is now back with ‘er suonone’, a new track from margot that is all set to be a late summer smash. anyone who has heard the legendary dj ralf (a cult figure who has been the subject of a documentary, has played all over the world, runs his own legendary bella ciao party and holds a cult residency in cocorico) play recently will most likely have heard this track in his set, and it has been an unknown but much loved secret weapon for a while now. as such this one sided vinyl pressing will please many people who have been hunting it down. margot, of course, is an italian pair of accomplished producers who have released on, les disques de la mort, hell yeah and border community and run their own margot records label. ‘er suonone’ is a pumping, deep, slow burning bit of cosmic house that builds and builds and teasers listens without ever releasing the pressure. monstrous kick drums drive it down below, pixelated stabs add suspense in the distance and icy hi hats slither in the foreground. it’s the sort of track to drop right at the peak time and it will surely go right off, with people fist pumping along to the groove.
