180g vinyl! the summer of 2008, the echo inspectors are touring germany. one of their stops lands them in koln, after getting their fix of record shopping at kompakt they would meet up at a local bar with pawas who just remixed their latest record. joining the guys for a mid afternoon beer would be local producer and friend of pawas, adam kroll. fast forward to 2020 and adam would reappear on the radar as adam k.roll with a fresh new dub sound, completely different to the minimal techno records of the mid 2000s. this fresh take on dub would capture the interest of the echo inspectors. many dms later would lead to adam producing five fresh tunes for primary colours. trying to describe adams music is not easy. adam seamlessly blends the sounds of dub techno, ambience, electronica, jamaican dub and an infusion of summer island sounds. primary colours has the honour of re-releasing one of their favourite adam k.roll tunes, into the ocean, initially released digitally on adams on bandcamp page, into the ocean has been reborn on wax. we loved it so much that we got the echo inspectors to remix it into a formidable dub techno groover. kick back, sip on a fine whiskey, light a little number and immerse your aural senses to the sounds of the final call.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent... house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 1 you ll find a dark bassline driven house jam from art of tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from nyc s dj spinna, a blaze homage with that classic new jersey sound from sean mccabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta brescia from wonder kid corrado bucci. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style!

undoubtedly a prolific artist at various points in his career, arjen schat revives his ohrwert alias for its first ep in three years with the first release for local traffic. the dubby tendencies of this particular project shine through in abundance on -tornus- with its voluminous reverbs and shimmering delays, all guided by a steady-ticking set of drums. throughout the ep the production values are impeccable, perhaps shining through the most on the blissful closer -weallian- which layers up melancholic synth tones into a beautiful configuration and rounding it out with an instinctive bassline for a heart-melting end result.

the dba dubs series returns with a fresh tropical house roller from samrai backed by a remix from michigan resident james t. cotton. khadi brings together samrai s tough drums and ethereal sun-kissed fx with a helping of keys from an anonymous local collaborator. on the flip jtc, the artist behind dabrye, sound murderer and a host of other cult catalogues reinvents khadi as a detroit house stepper. manchester resident via the midlands, samrai makes up 50% of the swing ting production unit. he s released with distinguished labels such as keysound, niche & bump and uttu as well as collaborating with ruf dug, murlo, brackles & hyperdub s okzharp. his dj sets take in x-amount of styles, always system-friendly with an emphasis on the soulful side of things.

** repress 2016 ** hnny strikes again with his second 12 inch on local talk this year. the lead track tears puts hnny back in peaktime territory and as with previous tracks yearning and for the very first tim, hnny shows you do not need many ingredients to serve classic house flavours, just the right amount of grit and a irresistible vocal. first out on the b-side is gymnastics, a blistering disco number or as tooli described it >a 100% string-stomper<. ending this 12 inch is no tears, a dub version with all the key details from tears but also goes deeper and with more added efx. an absolute guarantee to jack your body. local talk is talking to you

fox tooth was one of the big releases of 2015 on local talk. if you haven t heard it you probably dont remember 2015 at all! all we did was play fox tooth. now, a year later we re proud to present the fox tooth remixes. karizma aka kaytronik gets straight to the point, strips down the original and tensely builds the track slowly, keeping the groove on the bone. on the flip, peacy offers a remix with all the elements of the original, perfectly combined with a few tricks of his own, in a stunning new combination, it sure impresses.

if you ve followed local talk thru the years you ve most likely noticed how we like to throw a few curve-balls every now and then. for our 65th release we ve got gomma boss mathias modica aka munk and ndatl head honcho kai alce sharing the black gold. two producers with their own unique style presenting something special. while munk s original version of hot medusa is a shimmering and warm head-nodding & toe-tapping jam, the remix by mr alce is deep, soulful and musically rich house. two very different takes on one track, take your pick. on the flip munk delivers purple dust. this time he s upped the tempo a few bpm s, accompanied by a deep bassline with lush melodic synths and chords. mr alce ends the 12- with a dub of hot medusa which is brilliant from start to finish. another highly recommended and essential release.

we had no choice but to bring back our friend kiko navarro after the success of the new life ep released on local talk earlier this year. isao is kiko at his finest, a beautiful and hypnotic house track that has the perfect blend of afro and latin elements with a bouncy electronic edge. theres also a mighty fine remix coming from jose marquez. jose develops the vocal elements and brings in a whole orchestra of drums taking the track in a sweatier direction. kiko also delivers a koki dub where he continues on the same vibe and adds strings complimented by shakers and percussions throughout the track.

atjazz on local talk! pretty good combo right? well, just wait until you hear fox tooth and we re quite sure you ll agree with us that this is something above normal rank. martin iveson aka atjazz gave us a release that will work just as well on big sound systems as well as in those dark house basements. the original version is an electronic house jam that s equipped with all necessary tools in order to peak in the main room but without all the played out tech-house schemes. it s uplifting yet dark and carves a very personal groove - yum ! oh, don t miss the killer break down...big! the second version comes in the form of his inspired atjazz galaxy aart dub and this to be fair is more of a remix than a dub. here we step straight down to the darkness for a warming deep house cut that sounds like something from the prescription archives but still retaining the trademark atjazz sound. this is simply, sophisticated house music for those who like things real.

by now the leipzig based overdubclub got fixed in the heads of instrumental music lovers in germany outside the city boundaries. the concept and the unique sound of a beatmaker roundtable which focuses not just on each participants productions, but also on the jam character, shows through diversity and individuality what is possible when making music collaboratively.

new year, new release and a new local talk member to introduce to you all - lets all welcome merrick. this young wiz kid steps up to the plate with a three track sweaty and headstrong release for our local talk off shoot ltx. developed deep inside his sound lab somewhere in europe, using dark grooves and dusty chords as the foundation - this release leaves you in no doubt where his current position is - in the club. from the opening track do that with its chunky grooves and warm basslines via the scene, a basement deep house track that ll satisfy all the moodymann fans out there. the last track, devils dance, keeps us hypnotically locked from start to finish with its rich and warm chords, have a listen - youll understand why.

ladies and gentleman, aliens and extraterrestrials, im:ltd finally make their 2014 come back with the intergalactic perspectives. rolling at 140 beats-per-lightyear, our cadet kantyze has knocked us into hyperspeed with a dubstep album that can only be described as from the deepest, bassiest, and funkiest quadrants of outer space. going where no producer has gone before, they have put together 12 tracks which would have the whole mos eisley cantina calling for rewinds and firing their blasters at the ceiling. one things for sure, you wont be phoning home - youll be calling your local record store for this one.

sometimes it is best to let the music do the talking, this is one of those occasions. local talks 46th release comes from exciting debutant sameed. little did we know about sameed before we got the four tracks for this 12 inch, for all we know it could be your neighbour. quick-firing the release is spend, functional as a set highlight with its dubby chords, vocal snippets and a wonky bassline. included on the b-side is a dub that will work perfect as a dj tool for those who want to go a little bit deeper. showcasing sameeds sense for keeping things stripped down and sweaty, still is a dirty exercise in acid witchcraft while getyoself can best be described as a delicately raw rhythm with dark textures.

when luke solomon got in touch and said he wanted to work with local talk we felt both honoured and happy, especially since we have been fans for a long time and mats actually booked him to his raw fusion club in the late 90s. he has been around long enough to be considered a legend within the scene. we couldnt agree more. lost channels, a 130 bpm piano driven and punk-dubby new york inspired house track comes in two versions. the raw & stripped version is exactly what the name says, sharp snares & hi-hats, piano chords, a driving rhythm with lukes trademark percussion sprinkled on top. the live piano version is actually the original version and is peppered with more of everything. bubbly fx, more of that staccato piano and of course that muscular bassline. for remix duties it is the return of an old local talk friend, wil maddams. it seems like wil has spent some time in detroit since last time. this remix sounds like something that would come straight out of the d, his clever drum programming holds this track together with its deep pads and bubbling bassline. it is a retro (but fresh) techno jam for 2014.

our favourite swedish house duo is back…more dirty than ever! the follow-up to the previous eps moody & trapped is nothing short of brilliant. waisted with its plucked strings is classic deep house held together by a bumpy groove, soulful vocals & slick keyboard but still maintaining the formula that defines dirtytwo and their finest work to date. talking 2 u is where dirtytwo gets deep down and gritty. chunky house chords, a meaty bassline, cut-up voice samples in full basement effect. flip over for the hard on edit of talking 2 u which goes one step further adding some acid lines and a raw basement feeling. a dub for those who seek a more raw and heavier tool. local talk is talking to you!

on the a-side we are treated to two slammin tracks, vodka & valium & bring it back are both the perfect mix between uk garage & house. studio wizard crackazat, last heard on our sub-label oneoffs, re-built the track into a piano driven house track infused with lots of melodies.

in 2011 when mad mats and tooli went to sonar festival in barcelona they met ludovic llorca aka art of tones outside a club. little did they know back then that two years later on they would release a 12 inch together. the same thing ep opens with the title track and kicks pretty damn sweet with its strong vocal, the guitar, bass and rhodes jamming on top of a tight groove, there is also a dub version included on the b-side. last but not least, the great sgatmi is a jazzy and bumpy house take with lots of samples perfectly balanced. all in all, classic art of tones material and the work of a producer firing on all cylinders.

every label needs a strong summer release and we are pretty sure we found ours for this summer. from the very first second we heard this demo from stockholm based producer claes rosen (1/2 of dubstep duo l-wiz) we knew this would be one of our fave releases on local talk. seriously, its a real beauty! with a slight r&b touch, melodic chords and thumping house rhythms both tracks have that perfect contrast of soulful deepness and an uplifting feel. on the a-side daydreaming is a club friendly track with a bumpy house rhythm and smart r&b samples…the perfect summer tune! the b-side with wonderful is exactly what is says it is…wonderful! it is deep soulful house at its very best and music that puts a smile on your face every time your hear it. all in all its a fantastic package of exquisite house music ... enjoy the summer folks :)

next up on local talk we got a raw peak hour jam from liverpool producer dale howard (lost my dog, large, morris/audio, off rec). there is nothing light or fluffy about these tracks, its just dirty straight up house music with a dark 90s basement feel. for the main track we actually chose the dub version of throwback over of the original mix. we just thought this version was soooo freakin raw even though its more stripped than the original version. you’ll see what we mean when you drop it in the club! the second track in out goes along the same house theories as throwback with jackin beats and deep chords that will do wonders in any authentic house basement. all in all, a might fine release of classic local talk house music. enjoy!

local action kick off 2012 with a pair of vinyl-only tracks by dj q, including the massively hyped brandy & coke.qs a regular dj on londons radio 1xtra, a legend in the uks bassline house scene, and his remix of wooo riddim (released on butterz last year) is one of the best grime tracks of recent years. here he proves that he can make garage with a million times more swing and soul than all that future garage / post-dubstep stuff going around – basically, he’s the real deal. comes packaged on heavyweight red vinyl in a clear plastic sleeve with sticker. early support from brenmar, sinden, scratcha dva, mixmag, brodinski and those that know.

san francisco-based producer antiserum steps up for dub police with two unique collaborations, featuring local producers ill-esha and 12th planet respectively. his music is a masterfully crafted fusion of influences that results in a sound entirely his own, balancing light against dark and colour against pure bass pressure. showcasing a deft musicality as well as an unrivalled talent for system shaking productions, antiserum is taking the scene by storm. releases on narco.hz, s.c.u.m and argon amongst others have already propelled him to the forefront of the rapidly growing american dubstep scene, with plenty more still to come. on the a side, he is joined by ill-esha on >zephyr<, a sick g-funk inflected roller. skittering hi-hats and tough drums lay the foundations on this one, with the deep, smooth bass sweeping underneath. the vibrant synths weave in and out of each other with ease, swimming around the mix and swelling expansively through the speakers. on the flip he teams up with 12th planet on the massive >purple & gold<. the g-funk influences continue to flow through this track, pinned down by a hard bassline and taut drums. the shimmering synths sliding over the top of the percussion and off into the atmosphere give the track an epic stop-in-your-tracks effect.

responsible for this tartelet release is debutant mhm one aka morten halborg-møller. he s a local lad from copenhagen who has decided to give something back to the world of electronic music that he loves so much. before he decided to sit in the producer chair, he spend huge amounts of time on his copenhagen based kill your telly promotion. a promotion which has more than 5 succesful years on it s back and has featured a huge tally of big name bookings. said promotion at which he started out his djing career resulting in him being one of the most sought after djs in denmark. being the creative and gifted spirit that he is, music and clubbing is not the only thing that keep him occupied. he also expresses himself via visual artwork earning the fourth spot in the renowned graphic art collective that is bottega areté.... and oh yeah ...did we mention what a nice bloke he is? a1: the a side features a funky little groover that will fit well into a club where punters prefer to dance. the track is build around a playful bassline hook accompanied by a simple and catchy vocal (by who made who member tomas hoffding) a really sweet minimal workout for sure, that really does the trick. b1: on the flip side we get served a dish of bass heavy house. this time it s dutch house supremo melon who sorts out the remix treatment and turns bubububadub into a tribal ish affair. suited for big clubs? check. sexy? check. playable? very much so.
