this obscure lost soundtrack for an even more obscure (and also lost and never finished) italia violenta cop movie was recently discovered when i bought the dusty reel tapes from a restaurant owner in fiumicino, a seaside town near rome. panter 777 aka il labirinto di roma violenta aka the maze of violence, he told me, was directed by gervasio giardano in 1981 and was considered too (politically) explicit by the movie production company who dropped the project after the first screening. the soundtrack, an explosion of wahwah funk riffs and juicy analog synthesizers, was composed by an obscure band called nacho patrol. the restaurant owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of the band members and composed most of the tracks. when you think about italian crime movies, one of the first names to get to your mind is probably franco micalizzi, the maestro behind terrific and unforgettable soundtracks like napoli violenta and italia a mano armata. through all is carrier, nonetheless, there’s room also for some less known, but still mentionable works. one of them is hold up, made up of dizzying escapes, funky breakbeat and some less frantic episode.

lovebirds, dove sei - is a dancefloor killer with a touch of 80s italo vintage feel created during his odyssey last year collecting classic analog synthesizers like the highly regarded arp 2600 and the prophet 5. since adriano celentano was not available he just skipped it in finding a replacement and recorded his own vox! thats how dove sei sounds!

“firenze! l’assassino e ancora tra noi” is one of the last big italian giallo / slasher horror movies.
released in the mid 1980’s the movie telling the story of a murder series which really happened during that time in florence. a psycho killer was hunting down woman and the police had no idea at all who’s the person behind the cruel crimes. the whole case also delivered the idea for hanibal lecter and the silence of the lambs movie from 1991. detto mariano produced this wonderful completely unreleased score on the hight of his success when he was also producing stars as for example adriano celentano.
very dope horror themes for the soundtracks collectors and a lot experimental electronics, score and ambient meeting jazz, pop, space disco,… is what you’ll get on all in all 35 songs.
