finally the third release for red rooster records. like the second one, we are talking about a various artists e.p.: minimono (fabio della torre and ennio colacci) is an italian duo born in florence in 1997. in 2008 fabio and ennio founded their own label -bosconi records- where they released their first album in 2010. now minimono works with robsoul records, vibraphone and other very good label from all over the world. dj rou is parts of the project called homequest, a real crew of artists made in bologna, we can also find his music on robsoul jazz, bosconi extra virgin or flexi cuts. memoryman aka uovo is one of the famous pastaboys, he has a long story that starts with the label manocalda, he worked with a lot of big artists from the main house scene and he did a lot of records with the bests labels. d’arabia, class 1991, is the owner of red rooster records and this is the third release for him, surely not the last.

holic trax off shoot monoklo hits a third firing release now with a new ep from verrina & ventura. verrina & ventura are an italian pair who make fresh house and techno sounds and run the all inn, only 300 and howl labels. they are busy people who put out a lot of music and here serve up some brilliantly unhinged sounds for this darker, more club focussed series. up first, metaluna is a freaky track with shimmering voices and prickly, ticking percussion all underpinned by warm belches of sub-bass. it s a late night cut with plenty of unhinged atmosphere in its glitchy grooves. ork is less kinetic and more settled in a bulky, heavyweight groove. scraping perc and icy hi hats bristle and brim as muted synth stabs bring some colour and soul to the party. the deep and delicious dhrawn has big techno hi hats and more glitching, patchy machine sounds all run through with warming chords. trilling vocals go off in the distance and the whole thing manages to be emotive and human as well as devastatingly direct and dancefloor orientated. last of all, nihil is another visceral track with industrial synths, scurrying bass and sliding drums that makes you want to jerk your body. this is a brilliantly off balance ep full of arresting and inventive grooves aimed squarely at the floor

overmono return to xl recordings with their second ep in march 2017. arla ii is the follow up to last year s debut arla ep and further crystallizes the duo s immense & innovative sound. this latest 6-tracker from ed & tom russell (known respectively for their solo tessela and truss projects) carries things forward from its predecessor in underscoring overmono as a fully formed & ongoing project. . nstead of searching for commonalities between their earlier individual work, overmono combines the russells artistic talents in order to reach the spaces between ambient, techno & uk hardcore dynamics that few current acts are capable of reaching. born of the brothers collective creative impulse and staking out its own defined place in the contemporary landscape of electronic music, overmono are firmly amongst those pushing the form into new and exciting places. all of this is now also being explored in a live setting. having made their debut at krakow s experimental electronic music festival, unsound in october 2016, overmono will be performing a number of live and dj dates throughout 2017.

raw minimal techno specialist mono junk is back with a selection of new material on his own dum records. having pioneered key techno sounds as far back as 1990, more than 20 years later the influential finnish artist is still on top of his game. up first is halo, nine minutes of edgy techno with a nervy lead synth snaking around in paranoid fashion. rolling drums set a direct groove in motion below and the whole thing will be brilliantly hypnotic on the dance floor. halo 2 is a hallucinogenic bit of ambient with celestial drones and icy synth prickles making for a tense interlude, then musta peili is all fucked up and scuzzy, study and disrupted. sounding like a slowed-down techno track heard though a freezing snow blizzard, it is masterfully textured. farewell closes out the ep with an intergalactic bit of glassy melodic techno that will have you up on your toes.

jumpmono records is back with the next instalment of vinyl/digital mayhem! this time we welcome the super talented italian techno brothers, mr. bizz, with their superb single crescendo. mr. bizz have been making some serious noise across the techno scene over the past few years with their releases landing on labels including, cocoon, sci+tec, octopus, suara and many more... so it was inevitable that we would invite them to release on jumpmono. first up on remix duty is techno legend, koen groeneveld, who provides a powerful peak time monster. the second remix comes from none other than alex di stefano, with his amazing, harder techno sound. the third remix is a huge techno slammer and comes from holland s incredibly talented, steve mulder.

kicking cheerfully against the compression and conformity of the modern digital age, antique futurist analogue wizards metamono return with their finest, fittest album to date. comprising jono podmore, aka kumo and sometime collaborator with can members irmin schmidt and jaki liebezeit, paul conboy and fine artist mark hill, the crystal palace based trio enchanted audiences during 2014 with their live soundtracks to secrets of nature, early 20th century short films using new photography techniques to reveal the processes of the natural world including the lives of cuckoos and barn owls. many of the pieces they wrote feature on the new album. it was an ideal fit for the metamono sound - organic, playful, basking in the joys of new mechanical possibilities. recalling the early electronic adventures of raymond scott, brian eno, cabaret voltaire, cluster and acid house but always bearing their unmistakable bespoke signature, metamono are as unmissable live as they are on vinyl. do not miss this!

the album is a soundtrack of music inspired by the movie rubble kings and is out globally via mass appeal records. produced by longtime run the jewels collaborator little shalimar, the album features appearances from bun b, ghostface killah, killer mike, tunde adebimpe, mr muthaf*kin exquire, boldy james, cuz lightyear, ka and roxiny, in addition to run the jewels. scoring the film was the first time little shalimar set out to make period music. half of the music on this album was taken directly from the score and is heavily indebted to ‘60s and ‘70s soul and funk music. for the new tunes shalimar sampled joints from the score and created new beats out of them.
the grey marbled double lp version comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes an iron-on patch of the rubble kings plus a download code for the rubble kings album and documentary.

mono junks dum records has been dictating trends in the world of minimalistic techno since the 1990s, and its 34th release is as special as any. this one comes from label boss kimmo rapatti aka mono junk vs mesak, who is better known as fellow finn, tatu metsätähti, aka one half of mr velcto fastener and someone who has released on dexter & steffis klakson. together the pair serve up three mixes of their jam and an additional track. title track deep in my mind is a paranoid techno cut with freaky vocal riffs repeating the title as gurgling synth lines and sleek drums rumble below. twitchy synths and high pressure perc add to the hypnotic effect, and overall its easy to see this one making for some perfectly weird dance floor moments. the mix by mono junk is completely the opposite: in his hands it is a beat-less, serene and beautifully styled electro cut that takes you deep into brain soothing space. the electro mind version is then a full on electro jam, with plenty of aqueous synths and fluid lines all squiggling along in classic detroit style. final track sysdrum is back to the raw, with angsty drum lines, crisp and slapping snares and oodles of reverb all making for a brain frying trip.

monoloc makes his debut on hotflush recordings, the labels first release of 2016. following a recent single on innervisions and an appearance on life & death, his latest offering another thing marks a departure into more atmospheric soundscapes. the murky grandeur of the title track lends itself to moody textures that build in narrative, walking a knife-edge between ndustrial techno and minimalist dub. trysome conjures the setting of a dilapidated warehouse rave at 5am, while makeless, with its low-slung percussive elements draped over misty pads and imposing bass, draws the listener further into monolocs wormhole.
