following hivers excellent ep, let recordings again welcomes american dj and producer jon hester to their imprint. currently based in berlin but with previous spells in chicago and minneapolis, he returns to the label for a second ep following 2017s communication ep, and other outings on the likes of rekids and dystopian. his adventurous drum programming and high speed techno style kicks things off with radiance, a manically melodic track that takes you on an energetic trip. impermanence is a deeper, more cinematic piece that features rueful pads but still a driving drum line, then stratospheric has huge, hammering kick drums and squelchy synth sounds as well as dancing keys that bring warmth, groove, and soul. last of all, this high class excursion is completed with horizon, delivering barreling drum patterns and edgy pads that trap you in suspense as it races on. all four tracks deliver a high impact techno sound that very much looks to the future.

it seems that dapayk used to listen to a lot of hip-hop when he was younger. his latest ep for still vor talent >let go< has got these influences written all over it. the title track starts out with a male vocal and some sounds that sound a little like scratching before things then quickly head into the direction of the club. the vocal by singer camara could not be more reminiscent of 80s house music and this track has got all the soul and groove of this era. beneath the delicate vocal and sound patterns lies a wonderfully simply staccato house groove that is sure to get everyone shuffling. on the flip things get a little more techy with >nneka<, a deeper and more melodic tech house glider that gently takes the listener towards a harmonic state of mind. beautifully arpeggiated pads, a warm soulful groove and some reverbed vocals make this one. last up is the sample-based tech-house stomper >upyo< featuring production partner jon hester. this is loop heaven: a pushy beat loop with many snares, reverse samples and an unexpected saxophone melody make this one the perfect changeover track from warm-up to peak-time. this ep shows dapayks skills to combine many musical influences into his unique still of tech-house music

hottrax boss jamie jones teams up with nathan barato for a pair of killer cuts entitled cherrys revenge. nathan barato has been a staple on jamie jones hot creations imprint and paradise events ever since gracing both of them in 2014. reflecting on recent releases via saved records and cajual, the toronto native has continued rolling out releases in fine form, and his global gig schedule reflects his candescent reputation. on the other hand, jamie jones has been helming his multiple successful labels when not releasing on kerri chandler’s kaoz theory and dusky’s 17 steps, continuing to cement his name as one of the world’s most illustrious djs, producers and label owners. composed of intricate percussion and sporadic synth stabs, ‘cherry’s revenge’ sees jones and barato in fine form. the dancefloor focused roller blends rumbling bass and robust snares with chopped vox samples and whirling police sirens, forming a production destined to inject life into any situation. on the flip, cheating chester samples a sunset boulevard working girl discovering the cheating exploits of her pimp boyfriend and mashes it with mesmerising effects, tight hats, a purring baseline and distorted synths.

time to express sp-x joins rekids special projects with four punishing techno cuts this september. little is known about mysterious producer sp-x. after a string of quality releases on komisch, time to express, and projekts, the brussels-based artist has garnered a strong following for his rolling techno sound. the enigmatic producer now joins matt edwards rekids special projects roster, following on from releases by dj spider, jon hester, dj deep, fbkand dustin zahn among others. an amalgamation of metallic hits, powerful drums and plucky arpeggios commence the package in dystopian lotus before the fast paced breaths of separation offers a rumbling low-end, frenzied atmospherics and cosmic chords. the orbiter delivers distorted top lines and a thundering kick on the flip, backed by mysterious sirens and resonant synth blips until the package rounds off with desire of invisibility, a high-octane finish with sharp, organic percussion and a vacillating sub alongside stereo delayed stabs.

a few years ago i saw a documentary about the audio trickery employed in ww2. i was totally flabbergasted and soon absorbed anything i could find on the subject. artists and scientists alike cooked up incredible situations to fool the german army. inflatable tanks and trucks stacked with speakers projecting recordings of an imaginary reality were used to deceive and deviate the opponent. this odd scenario influenced me profoundly and drove me towards composing music that related these feelings. the project only collected dust inside my head until radio bongo heard of it and encouraged me to finish. sveinbjörn bjarki jónsson aka sonic deception

the “meet us at the loft” e.p. is a various artists project marking the third release from new york born and now berlin based label l.a.g. it’s an eclectic record featuring rising producers dj richard, hinode, jon hester as well as label head arthur kimskii’s first solo release. various cuts featuring dub techno tones with house inflections are offered from arthur kimskii and jon hester. left field leaning expressions steeped with soul, dynamic percussive rhythms and driving toms anchors the offering from dj richard. analog warmth in the form of electro from hinode rounds out the release.

all 10 releases + brand new dpk11!! dapayk solo is a studio workaholic and he strikes a blow for vinyl. in 2009 he started his very own vinyl only series called dpk, next to his well established labels mo s ferry, fenou and rrygular. the idea was to present vinyl in striking colours as a special format for his liveset tracks and beloved edits by artists such as format:b, super flu, sascha braemer and jon hester. it s a feast for the eyes and the ears all in one. now, four years later and after reaching #10 of the series, dapayk decided to compile all tracks in a collectors box. in addition to the previously released records he also included the brand new dpk #11 with a remix by aka aka. this big bundle contains 23 tracks and ranges from minimalistic to funfair tunes and also some edgy b-sides.
