john cohen aka dead fader first arrived on the label in 2016, with it works 1 - a brace of warping, high energy electronic music compositions that while largely unclassifiable in genre, maintain a gloriously vibrant, emotive sensibility that owes much to early idm excursions, and the more abstract tenets of the krautrock genre. that said - the artist cites anything from kanye west to bach and back again as informing the decidedly experimental and potentially confounding work - and his latest offering for the milan based label continues to riff on this open ended mesh of influence to great effect. the original material is buoyed by a formidable remix package, featuring downwards affiliate jk flesh - who turns in a caustic reinterpretation of fyi, roly porter of vexd and tri angle fame, who takes on raw food, and planet mus konx-om-pax, whos reimagining of life cycle closes out proceedings. its an admirable line up, in keeping with the aesthetic concerns of cohens excellent lp - and the chosen artists turn in respectful but wholly personal work - making for an excellent addition to growing parachute discography. parachuterecords.

parachute is proud and excited to release art rock unit starfuckers legendary sinistri lp, remastered and pressed on vinyl for the very first time since its original version in 1994 on underground records. formed in 1987, starfuckers is an italian avant-garde band primarily from the 1990s, considered a notable part of the experimental rock scene and one of the more out there acts during their active tenure. originally inspired by 80s post-stooges noise and new york city no wave, starfuckers eventually carved their path to their own distinctive sound by following in the footsteps of xenakis, john cage, maderna and stockhausen — all without ever abandoning their own attitude and raw personality. an incredibly important record for us here at the label, sinistri feels just as fresh in 2016 as it did in 1994.

dead fader - john cohen is surely one of the most overlooked voices making electronic music today. his approach to making honest and emotive electronic music has pushed the boundaries in recent years and challenged so many concepts and traditions within the music industry and scenes. but also without loosing sight of a bigger picture and finding a balance between emotions, technology, politics and expression.

charted by ernesto ferreyra. this ep is inspired by an egg dropping contest that was held at the hotel vancouver when i was a kid. all maner of apparatus were designed to help the eggs land safely after falling the 17 floors. all failed but one. parachutes malfunctioned. ballons drifted into obstructions. wings collasped. the winner: a jar of molasses. the egg was pushed into the center of a large jar full of the thick liquid and the jar was thrown over the side. the jar broke on the street below leaving the egg safe and sticky. i was once told that all jokes come from prison. i often think of those doing time while trying to remember some play on words like - whats the difference between a pickpocket and a peeping tom?..... - though that is one of redd foxxs gems i have a new joke i have yet to use - upon exiting a bathroom, regardless of its particular plumbing, tell the owner that you think their bidet is broken

this is the first in a series of three various artist 12 inch releases, that features four of the dublin labels most trusted henchmen. puresthatreds >robbery< is his debut track on mantrap and what an awesome one it is: dark imposing bass and beats meet the sound of smashing glass, rave led keys and all round mayhem, with haunting strings that send this one into deepest hell. meeting him there is magnetize, who in one take supplied this evil vox led synth grinder in >distant observer< , with deft 808s and distorted crackling fx creating both a scary but grooving feel. rory st john pushes wobbly techno eccentricity on >dysentry<, with fluid editing and supreme use of effects proving again why he is one of the most exciting new talents around. sunil sharpes >print more money and shut up!< is a slippery mover, where a succession of unruly lead sounds accompany odd vocals and rasping hats - with a straightforward approach that will penetrate all in its way. so, four top class techno cuts here, all with their own unique character and all for peak time play.

as one of the most influential house labels of the 80s sleeping bag has stood the test of time with its releases. 25 years on and the tracks still provide the dance world with a regular source of sample material. here on this double lp compilation are some of sleeping bags most seminal records released during a ten year period, which brought to attention the sublime production talents of the labels cofounder arthur russell and a&r skills of curtis mantronik. the collection contains the track dinosaur l produced by russell, remixed and subsequently made famous by francois kevorkian. the sleeping bag family also extended to legendary producer and dj todd terry, who re mixed several of sleeping bags tracks. also featuring on this release is joyce sims with two tracks taken from her hit album come into my life. after the death of russell in 1992 the label limped on for awhile but finally shut its doors the same year.

this selection is based on over two decades of deep dj experiences. the impact of seeing jazz dancer, michael knot of idj, dancing to acid trax by phuture, in the back room of a pub in teddington, produced one of those seminal moments that, gilles maintains, radically changed his view of acid house. it is important to say that this is certainly not a club album as some of the predecessors in this series have been.

disc one brings together three classic cuts from the nrk vaults. joey negros akabu project is currently undergoing a revival, what with new cuts phuture bound and im not afraid of the future currently in the front of many djs boxes. back in 2000, akabu recorded your wildest dreams for nrk, and was accompanied by the 2020 vision mix included here. ralph lawsons punchy, robotic club remix sounds just as relevant today as it did on its first release. on the flip, solid grooves trademark jackin remix of magik js feel alright still cuts the mustard and jamie andersons beautiful oceanic shimmers with cool 909 drums and luscious deep chords.
