decoy 01 showcases southampton artist chris colburn, a regular feature on alan fitzpatricks 8 sided dice imprint. a selection of 3 techno gems made entirely for the dance floor. acid whip is the lead track, big drums and a nerve cutting acid line create this frenzy of a track. universal oddity brings in a tonal bell ploughing through light percussion and chris signature kick. no smoke is last but not least delivered with a touch of soul through the melodic stabs and swirling hazy noise effects, taking it even deeper. hans bouffmhyre adds his touch to the ep with his remix of acid whip, pulling away from the acid and focusing on the drums and effects, the sleaze and electric deluxe artist doesnt fail to deliver as the track flows, drops and lifts with this warehouse style monster.
decoy records is launching in 2012 at a time where electronic music has become very exciting. with a grass roots approach and a nod to talented uk artists, the story begins.

after the hit >confiara< (vibe002) fabio alampi gives us another awesome dancefloor bomb! vibe005 >escape< pushes loud from the first to the last beat of kick, surfing in a techno percussion kit, dancing on a killer bass-line stoled from the dirty detroit club of late 90s that lets you trip when an incredible dark voice speaks directly to your soul. cant miss an amazing series of remixes, opened by the big-boss alan fitzpatrick . (drumcode/soma/sleaze), essential and straight, violent and elegant, powerfull detroitish pure techno. we will find the same detroit-vibes also in the remix by francesco bonora (abstract theory/plastic city), gumming and bright ambient, big kick, far voices. so good.
,,,,,,,to close the remixes, sarp yilmaz (apparel) retouched the original mix to create a really grooving old housy beat, slowly and rolling. can you escape?
>impolite to refuse< by claude young remade and remixed by santiago salazar and esteban adame as ican. originally released in 1996, >impolite to refuse< immediately inspired the future members of ican. it had that detroit techno soul with latinized bass and percussion, even before knights of the jaguar, claude youngs masterpiece had won us over. also included on this release are two new versions of >impolite to refuse<. esteban adame and santiago salazar did their homework to recreate the strings, bass and then added their own inspired twists for the ican remake. esteban adame slows it down to 118 bpm for a latin funk jam on his deep mix.
wars/when i feel is juk juks third 12 release for nommos lead tune wars is pure winter melancholy driven by dark rhythms and brooding basslines, occasionally broken down with celestial synths. slick, enigmatic and moody, a hard one to pin down but easy to get lost in. in contrast when i feel is an irresistible piece of minimal garage house. big kicks and crisp highs are punctuated with reversed strings. all this is scattered with juk juks signature vocal manipulations.

one of figures most prolific artists, a.mochi offers up his first ever ep for figure spc, with 2 especially subterranean and highly charged tracks. mochi, who last year released his outstanding >primordial soup< lp on figure, continues to tread the line between functional club techno, and post-apocalyptic mechanical soundtracks. the well-defined a side burner, >riff< charges along with textured, woody percussion at its heart, and mochis trademark white noise ensemble pushing the high frequencies. a reduced, classically minimalist work, the track relies on just a handful of elements to induce a real fever on the dancefloor. following closely in its footsteps is >sunset<, a deeper cut with hi-tech atmospheres and intricate percussion at its core. metallic synths surge under mochis wall of bass, and the straight-ahead ebb of the sharp hats and claps edge this monster into even darker zones.
part 1 of the 3 part vinyl series. 2012 sees hemlocks 20th release after four years at the frontline of forwardlooking bass music and dark electronica. to mark the occasion hemlock boss untold has curated a 65-minute mix joining the dots between the labels past, present and future.
new years deal - behind the highway, near the industrial area, next to the airport, somewhere in the innercity, urban principles fall apart. that leaves the enclaves, mono functionalism and an urban ultra density that local governments are struggling to eradicate. both a cage and a cocoon, there is a space where development opportunities hit the wall. hybrid places that combines urban collapse and >the new culture<, endemic violence and solidarity, all of which is left to the communities to deal with without outside help. when the post-industrial economy becomes sporadic and nothing else takes shape, man is left at the mercy of his environment. techno appears and becomes a parallel between man and the city, as another faceless entity which unifies them. this unity is the result and techno is the process.
magic feet are gaining momentum after the superb tommy awards ep, and welcome timothy j fairplay to the fold for their third release. fairplay is a rising star of the uk underground and recently opened proceedings on bird scarer, the new vinyl-only initiative from andrew weatherall, with the sprawling cosmiche flecked brilliance of >the final reel<, and has also contributed to the output of astrolab and world unknown. fairplay has little interest in making functional dance floor records and delivers four cutshere that plough a distinctly epic path through post 100bpm electronic music that is framed by both cinematic and musical references. limited to 300 hundred copies only.
