late last year, we modestly celebrated the sixth anniversary of lph records by releasing a 10-inch that reconnected us with our very first ep by bringing back two of the artists who contributed to it, runaway and soft rocks. now, as a sort of companion to that, we have lph___vi , a 7-inch that gives shine to a couple other names that have been spotted on lph party flyers of old and back catalog credits, jacques renault and daniel t. both these are fun, flavorful little disco nugs united by funky bass guitar fretwork and plenty of sassy woodblock, though jacques leans towards the goofy and daffy, whereas daniels brings some synth-pop seriousness into the frame. as befits the format, both hover around four minutes in length.

at long last, mr. jacob korn gets drafted into team lph! technically,hes been in our orbit since 2015, when he remixed a leo wölfel track for lph white, but it s only now that we re presenting an ep of originals by him. about time! my business is classic korn a little nerdy (intricate arrangements twisty, turny top-line melodies), a little ravey, a little goofy, a little feisty, and a lotta fun. four sure-shot firebombs that ll slip into any set, hand in glove, real nice. try em out. wield em well.

oh so you thought that was it with relo1? -funny idea but we wont ever hear from those goofy guys again.- you were so wrong. we spent 7 months in the studio and pulled another 3 pointer out of the hat with a bat. relo2 is here from the rebound lounge label and production project brought to you by dj dog(aka dj fett burger) & double dancer.

the jungle brothers’ 1988 debut, straight out the jungle, was important for many reasons. it was sloppy and goofy but had moments of real focus and social consciousness. it was a true “kitchen sink” record, that caught a rap fanbase enraptured by eric b. & rakim, public enemy and boogie down productions a bit off-guard. also of note, beyond the excellence of the album itself, the jungle brothers were the fulcrum for what would become the native tongues movement – they came first, de la soul and a tribe called quest followed, under their guidance.

after getting off to a strong start, resolute s disdat sublabel noticeably raises the bar with a heavy hitting cast for its second edition. thomas melchior takes a break from his usual haunts to drop a track brimming with micro house flair, as hillbilly high throws down an infectious run of goofy samples over a solid beat. vincent lemieux meanwhile takes a smoother route with the warm chord-laden atmosphere of in momos jeep, working crafty percussion impeccably in the deep surroundings. rising talent barac meanwhile gets fresh with the cheeky synth lines on his own offering, making this an ep of fresh variations on the minimal house sound.

jo waddington puts into herves two-part album, filled with more of his infectious open minding staples alongside a selection of down-tempo gems.

stand by us with this ode to childhood, youth and adolescene. three brave hits that evoke the sweet innocence of days long gone, chucks, striped tees and the question what kind of creature goofy really is. for all you outsiders and insiders. a creative original young edits effort. only original with the stamp.

black gold also contains a rendition of sandy denny s who knows where the time goes, in a minimalist arrangement that ends in an uplifting orchestration true to both the writer of the song and the performer. throughout the entire performance ms simone keeps a regal, aloof and sometimes goofy composure, her monologues in between songs ushering the listener a little closer to her moving performance.
