newcomers brame & hamo from sligo in ireland have teamed up for the first time ever for this fine deep debut ep. brame already released on morris audio before and had a very successful ep together with klansee last year.

tartelets latest comes from glenn astro. currently residing in essen, he has spent a bit more than half his life djing and producing, first in the realm of hip-hop and more recently with an ear toward dance music. after his first releases in this style in 2011 and 2012, glenn really went for it in 2013 with a trio of eps that showed hip-hops soul and house musics drive are in no way mutually exclusive. this 26-year-old may embrace the latter these days, but when you close your eyes and let his gritty low-end do its dirty work, you will hear plenty of the formers bump still kicking around in there.

odd002,kdim ep comes from a pair of german-based young guns glenn astro and imyrmind. the two artists met in 2007, both sharing a burgeoning interest and eclectic taste in music from a young age. they frequently began swapping beats, ultimately culminating in a very raw and yet mature sound, which immediately grabbed our attention. the a side is a sweet and sultry jaunt, complemented with hip-tugging beats. whilst their remixes on the flip side show off a unique and finely tuned ear for the dance floor.

kdj style house belters that have been getting major support from motor city drum ensemble, bradley zero and glenn astro to name a few.
organic in both sound and nature, ‘konkahs’ is a product of the producer’s extensive musical exploration up to this point and a creation of fineness. with just snippets of garvey’s delicious voice lacing the track, focus remaing on the slick instrumental layers of a dreamy bassline, ambient, jazzy keyboard melodies and vivid percussion. each one as divine as the next and all carried by a chilled 111 bpm tempo. cb describes the ‘be-side’ as the ‘bubble and squeak’ of the ep, using up any ‘left overs’ from the single. with 12 minutes of gorgeous simplicity and woozygrooves, it seems the ‘be-side’ is as integral to the identity of the ep as the a-side

since his appearance on soccer96s jupiter masterdrive edits ep (alongside danny krivit and glenn astro flips, also on wotnot ) in 2015, and subsequent eps on wotnot, monologues and sgol, danvers has swiftly become a name to pay attention to. as a regular appearance on co-ops selectors assemble, both live and on their recent comp vol. 2, he s established himself as a new and original voice on the broken beat scene. his recent the future is broken mix series highlights his ear for unconventional dance music, something that makes him extremely at home on the wildly creative wotnot (thanks dj mag). the opening two tracks are strongly in the broken beat vein. mason opens with dreamy, rhodes jazz over a bruk beat with rolling snare fills, lulling us into a false sense of security before switching to an offbeat but irresistible squelchy synth groove. similarly, in aye ata the pulsing chord that slowly grows out of the beat suddenly turns the track around with a rhythmic twist, showing the playful broken beat in a whole new light. there s a house touch throughout the ep, none more so than in 1997, where a bouncing kick, soulful claps and a booming sub provide a steadier basis for laid back rhodes chords and dreamy spoken word samples. as a big influence on danvers music, frits wentink is welcomed onto remix duty with open arms. the wolf music regular brings an otherworldly vibe to his take on 1997 , with enchanting but almost disorienting chord swells and spiralling vocal fx punctuated with crisp snare rolls. the ever-busy danvers recently launched 38 east , a studio space and music community, with warren xlnce . warren s remix of 1997 was a surprise gift to his business partner and collaborator, and is a deeper house cut, joe armon jones (brownswood) rhodes jam over the track bringing a distinct peckham flavour. dj support from ig culture, andwot (touching bass), neue grafik & evm128 (co-op) t williams

a quartet of heavy reworks. reginald omas mamode iv truly does what he does best, bringing a percussive, low-slung funk to one of the most ethereal and beautiful pieces of soul on the album, sunshine. glenn astro, elevates bossa b to a jostling, bouncing shuffler that eventually turns around and heads skyward with uplifting chords and irresistible bass. deoke heads into the darker regions of the original for his hugely loved remix of bossa b. the bass on this one is ridiculous and has caused damage to a couple of sound systems were aware of (genuinely). finally the ever exceptional mr beatnick simply took the stereo track for kalimba 2 and edited it into a mind-opening dub. handling bass and harmonics as only he can, a true highlight of this high quality remix package.

georgi barrel rhyme goes on (w/hodini + kerem akdag remixes) (01/02) georgi barrelis a producer whose reputation is enhanced with every passing release. a musician in the truest sense of the word, barrel is a sound obsessive with a penchant for knocking out quirky and unusual -but always enticing - house music. from that perspective, his signing here to the istanbul/barcelona label,petra digital, is a snug fit. flanked by some fittingly complimentary remixes by hodini (of max graef and glenn astro s money $ex label) and kerem akdag (one of the istanbul s most exciting new producers), this is a release that s characterized by good-time vibes throughout.
