london producer george fitzgerald follows up silhouette, his 2011 debut on will sauls imprint aus music with a four track ep entitled child. with past releases on hotflush and his own imprint, manmakemusic, his productions combine the lush, melodic sides of house and garage with the more intense, jacking rhythms of dubstep and techno. his second ep for aus fully explores the 4/4 end of his production spectrum to devastating effect with four tracks that are all designed with the peak time dance floor in mind. keep your ears peeled for a remix ep of child in september featuring a mix of child by gerd under his jacking geeeman alias, alongside exciting young talent gerry reads interpretation of lights out. next up on aus is an ep from bicep with a remix from panoramabar resident steffi.

uk house & techno heavyweights dusky return to their 17 steps label with the classic house indebted ‘square miso’, picking up swiftly where this summer’s hugely successful ‘cold heart’ ep left off - the lead track an ever present in gerd janson’s summer dj sets.
already recognisable to many from dusky’s festival sets as well as jackmaster’s recent circo loco terrace recording, ‘square miso’ draws on the swing of classic nyc house with soulful, cut-up vocal samples and tightly programmed beats, whilst paying tribute to the ‘90s italian house classics with its distinctive piano melodies - with a dash of shades of rhythm-era uk rave for good measure. as well as the club-ready original, a beat less piano and strings ‘reprise’ is also included.
a darker, detroit-nodding club tool, ‘lf10’ blends heavy-hitting stabs, atmospheric melodic textures and house grooves. an immersive roller, like ‘square miso’ it serves as another example of the duo’s ability to blend different influences into unique hybrids.

little is known about the london-based producer and dj who goes by the name of u, but that hasnt quelled praise from bedroom heads, industry tastemakers and big name press alike. audio arbiter george fitzgerald originally met u on a holiday in greece and immediately commissioned a handful of 12inches, each brimming with trademark mechanical bliss, like pleasure tinged with menace. u has since gone on to release for erol alkans phantasy sounds (both as a solo artist and in collaboration with babe, terror as btu), being given the nod by the guardian, mixmag and the line of best fit.

the krankbrother label comes back out of the blocks this may, hot on the heels of their inaugural release (produced by krankbrother themselves), with a second offering, this time from young welsh producer jody barr. having been producing and demoing material for the last couple of years, barr has been picking up some fans of late, including george fitzgerald and b-traits, and this release on krankbrother marks his debut single, and a bright future.

having produced some stellar jams for labels like somethink sounds, and giles petersons brownswood, eliphino aka tom wrankmore, debuts for hypercolour this autumn, opening up the labels new term with this solid two track release. i dont care opens the account, all chopped up rnb vox and rolling beats, wrapped up in a super smooth melody. already road tested by the hypercolour firm over the last few months, this deep garage vibe hits the sweet spot for sure. on the flip, understand further plunders eliphinos love of rugged garage beats and an ear for a catchy hook. a feverish interplay of vocal chops, keys and organ stabs keeps up the ante, with some decidedly trancey synth parts ramping up the 90s house influences here, and once again a cut that most definitely brings the heat to the dancefloor.
