it wouldnt be an overstatement to say that opium is currently the most talked about club north of berlin. vilnius based spot has built its reputation slowly but surely to become one of the brightest lights in the night sky of europe. the club has earned the admiration of local crowd, loyalty of visiting artists and respect of industry insiders by nurturing unique local talent, bringing cutting edge house & techno acts on a weekly bases, building a devoted community and rocking the parties of the highest intensity and unprecedented intimacy.

the industry of dance music can be as soul-crushing as any other. those thrills and spills of late, loud nights come with a best-before expiry date, after which even the most seasoned selector-producer-scenemaker begins to wrinkle their nose. to have experienced it all over 15+ years and seek to see it unfold again through fresh eyes, what sort of lunatic would willingly put themselves through that? v would. so its a new character, but who was the mysterious v in a past life? make your own conclusions. a little digging will lead you toward the origin story, but sometimes the pleasure comes from the unknowing. opt to enjoy the silence. silence, however, is not the focal point for v. in fact, this new form is a way to discard baggage and revitalise the process of music making.

im klanggarten is the very first release on frank wiedemanns newly established bigamo label by the musician, video artist, author and dj rainer buchmüller aka fred und luna. it began as an homage to german electronic music of the 70s and 80s known as kraut. however, rainer gives his style its own name: elektrokraut or krautelektro, in which he blends kraut elements, such as repetitive rhythms, with beautiful melodies and modern electronic sounds. this lp comes as a double vinyl in a gatefold cover!

with his project fred und luna musician rainer buchmüller (sugar ray buckmiller) from karlsruhe, germany is paying tribute to his favourite electronic oriented music by using its characteristics like repetition and beautiful melodies, putting them in a contemporary context and preserving their subtle and seductive charm. fred und luna play their self described elektrokraut (concerning songs that are basically kraut mixed with electronic elements) and krautelektro (which is elektro mixed with kraut elements). they live in karlsruhe which, like düsseldorf, lies next to the river rhine. perhaps karlsruhe is the new (neu) düsseldorf, with fred und luna (as pioneers/vanguard).

stahlschrank sind sun ray (fred und luna) und brain emo (ufo hawaii). nach ihrer erfolgssingle „egal ist sehr gut“ peitschen stahlschrank mit ihrer zweiten veröffenlichung „karin / inge“ ihr konzept des elektrodadakraut weiter nach vorne. ein musikstil, der noch nicht vollständig erforscht und entwickelt ist. „karin“ ist eine reflexion über die vergänglichkeit des daseins und eine moderne parabel über kontrolle und unterwerfung. „inge“ ist eine reflexion über das ringen des individuums vor dem hintergrund zeitgenössischer clubkultur, die sowohl die grenzen der studioumgebung als auch die geduld der nachbarn ausreizt.

just as magnified record grooves reveal dust constellations and lunar landscapes, so too does godblesscomputers’ third album. “solchi” is a deep search into previous moments in lorenzo nada’s lifetime, influenced by the presence and power of music. his process began with the recovery of some old cassettes, mixtapes nearly forgotten, audio recording of voices from his childhood, and lots of dusty jazz, soul, and hip-hop records. as the starting point of this travel merge with its end, past and present combine to form gbc’s current sound. warm electronic production rooted by grooving bass lines form the core of a kaleidoscope of sixteen tracks, colored by synthesizers, guitar echoes, scratches, samples, fading voices and kalimba. the album is a collection of sixteen stories, sixteen soundscapes, each of them gbc’s tribute to the path taken thus far, an homage to his love for music. the recording and studio work took place over a year, with the adding and subtracting of many elements. for this project, gbc invited several musicians into his home studio, both old friends and new. they helped to recreate the sounds of the original recovered recording, as well as add fresh ideas to the project.

elsewhere mcmxiii is a compilation full of electronic textures with a unique character to it, analog, lo-fi, slow dancing vibes. compiled by dj sofa for débruit s ici label, the record is a 12-track journey through future retro oddities, that navigate in disco, coldwave, kraut territories, with a taste for experimentation, while being great to dance to. it showcases a scene well represented at clubs like -salon des amateurs- or close to labels like antidote, music from memory, macadam mambo and dark entries.
