we are proud to announce the vinyl reissue of one of the best and most complex japanese jazz fusion albums, 1987’s breeze by hiroyuki namba, eiji kawamura, and toshiro imaizumi’s band atlas. hiroyuki namba is one of the most important japanese keyboardist of the ’80s with a legacy that in-cludes japanese cosmic classic “who done it?” and “tropical explosion,” a sought-after gem by diggers. in addition to his work with his progressive rock band sense of wonder, he’s also known as a member of tatsuro yamashita’s band.

melchior sultana has not been short of labels to release on over the past few years, from deepartsounds and three fingers musique to minuendo and 12records, but here he can be found inaugurating the profound sound label with some of his trademark deep house tones. -feel this- is a shimmering, nocturnal groover with mystery to match its subtle funkiness, while the live edit of -give it to the moon- has an easier vibe about it with its lingering, warm pads and breezy swing. -treasures- shakes things up with a jazz funk twist, letting effervescent instrumentation flirt around the crooked house beat with stunning results and then the slow, sensual original version of -give it to the moon- cradles the remaining run time of the ep in a downtempo haze of easy beats and stirring vocals.

the seventh 7-inch in most excellent unlimiteds series of mr. k edits combines a pair of lush midtempo modern soul gems, with both sides textbook candidates for a perfect set-opener. “live in me,” from rufus and chaka khan’s 1979 masterjam lp, was never released as a single, but that didn’t stop it from becoming a fan favorite and warm-up classic for soulful djs. composed and produced by the legendary rod temperton and quincy jones, who were fresh off the completion mj’s off the wall when this was recorded, “live in me” is judiciously extended here by danny krivit without losing any of the graceful magic of the original. philly jazz-funkers pieces of a dream get another respectful krivit extension on the flip side, with their gorgeous “warm weather.” written by maestro dexter wansel and featuring barbara walker on lead vocals, the laid-back pulse of this smooth ‘81rare groove mainstay has never fallen out of favor with djs who understand the power of gentle persuasion.

adesse versions has been dropping some choice originals and edits on a host of renowned and respected labels for the last four years and we’re proud to add him to the esteemed list of artists to release on delusions of grandeur. from early white labels on make love in public spaces and his own adesse versions label through to his recent outings on heist, numbers, razor n tape, let’s play house and local talk, he continuous to impress with his raw, sample-heavy production which brings pure energy to the dance floor. for his pulp fusion ep, adesse presents three diverse and brilliant cuts, all showing off his deft touch in the studio and providing what we feel is his strongest work to date. pulp fusion leads the a side with cutting clavinets doubling up the syncopated bassline, a super-charged romp where disco meets filtered house resulting in a track with widespread appeal despite its raw and underground approach. the a2 entitled fade out drops the bpm’s for a string-drenched, philly soul jam, heavy on percussion but with a gentle lilt and balearic vibe that makes it perfect for the wind down. last but definitely not your average b side filler we have the mighty raw in its live edit incarnation. militantly minimal in sonic palate, this jacked up house track simply rocks the spot thanks to adesses ballsy arrangement,production prowess and nasty bassline, rounding off this ep with a punch

bbe are excited to present the first in a new series of strictly limited 7” pressings exploring some of the most iconic house tracks of all time, as chosen by dj spinna and kai alce. with global interest in ‘45s on the rise, ‘foundations’ aims to fill those frustrating gaps in all our collections by releasing specially crafted edits of classic house tracks on 7” vinyl for the very first time. part one of the ‘foundations’ series celebrates chicago producer cajmere’s early masterpiece ‘brighter days’ featuring dajae. best known in recent years by his ‘green velvet’ moniker, curtis jones has been blazing a trail through house and techno since launching his cajual imprint back in ’91. reaching #2 on billboard’s dance chart in 1992, ‘brighter days’ was cajmere’s breakthrough hit and continues to educate and inspire producers, djs and dancers to this day.

having debuted with a fine ep by job sifre, artificial dance has returned to the source for release number two. the 12inch pays tribute to one of the most influential figures of original diy electronic music scene of holland, hanjo erkamp. during the first half of the 1980s, erkamp had a hand in some of the most experimental and forward-thinking releases on the now legendary cassette label, trumpett. famously, he was a member of two of the label’s key bands industrial outfit doxa sinistra and new wave combo ende shneafliet but during the period he also recorded a swathe of solo tracks as c.stein, most of which only saw the light of day decades later. la bombe plastique, a thrillingly spacey and futurist cut rich in proto-techno rhythms, intergalactic electronic motifs and drowsy choral vocals. for this timely reissue, the superb original version comes accompanied by a fresh re-edit created primarily for dj use.

for the second in its new special collector series, music for dreams has asked long-time friend of the label moonboots to pick out a selection of songs with the power to encapsulate moods of calm and moments of contemplation. the result is the exquisite “moments in time” moonboots has been a fixture of the manchester scene since the balearic boom in the late 80s. he runs the prolific vinyl label aficionado recordings together with fellow dj jason boardman, a project that started out as a sunday club night. since 2012, they’ve dished out more than a handful of 12” releases with an ever-surprising selection of underground acts at the fringes of what might be called balearic.

lion and the mean ecstasy of “you’ve got a woman”, the b-side to their sole release comprise a rare burst of psychedelic western soul from two names best known for dutch progressive rock and new wave. drummer peter de leeuwe, departing from the symphonic leanings of dutch prog-fixtures ekseption, penned it in 1975, layering syncopated explosions of hand-claps, vibraslap and slick drumwork with neutron-star density, with super-producer hans van hemert nearly bursting glenn robles vocals through the fore. the shoes subtle edit provides exactly that, gently teasing the organ- and requintohinted contours of the track to better suit the treasure within. chicago-based septet whitney have brought some attention to youve got a woman with a recent cover, and the faith with which they recreate much of the original instrumentation proves the extent of lions accomplishment.

following the success of our recent reissues of classic tracks from the vaults team-jalapeno decided to start 2018 strong with another 7inch release of two certified bangers from our very own breaks legends skeewiff. our dear label co-founders and creative minds whose four skeewiff albums set the agenda for the jalapeno funk machine that you know and love alex rizzo and elliot ireland have never been found wanting. these guys are the godfathers of the lounge and breaks scenes, they put the fun into funk, and if rumours are to be believed they could mix before they could walk! from the very first opening horns salvo on mexican flyer you know this track means business. a driving bassline and in-your-face drums provide the backdrop for all sorts of sonic madness with dj cuts, horn solos and breaks galore. it s a bona-fide fiesta that fits neatly in your 45s bag. with this little number in the arsenal the only worry that the djs will have is the stampede to the dancefloor. over on the flipside delta dawn sees the guys get a little help from a famously little lady with one of the most recognisable voices in country music. but make no mistake this is no barn dance… breaks, bass and a healthy dose of hammond wizardry inject the funk into proceedings to complete this 7inch club weapon of mass destruction. it s a double act that s up there with the best of them and a must have for fans of jalapeno and high quality party music

surely no other orchestra can claim the dancefloor kudos of these guys - the salsoul orchestra. theyve literally played on, shaped, crafted and executed numerous classics since their inception in 1975. as salsoul records in-house band they were quite literally, instrumental, in the personality and sound of one of dance musics most famous and respected labels.

a little over six years ago, let s play house because, in earnest, with a 12-inch called indoor pool. fittingly, the track it revolved around was by runaway, the duo comprised of marcos cabral and jacques renault, and featured remixes by some tight friends of the imprint, beautiful swimmers, slow hands, and soft rocks. we thought it d be fun to celebrate our birthday for once, but not with something too obvious (e.g. a compilation) or too involved (e.g. a warehouse party blowout). what we came up with is this, a 10-inch that reflects a little of the past into the present. appropriately, it includes edits by two of the artists on that debut ep. runaway s is a dusted-off and remixed secret weapon from the act s early days while soft rock s is classic soft rocks, albeit from a more current vintage (it was recorded this year). both absolutely rock. a little twisted, a little tilted, a little tipsy, but, as always, tight and tidy. funny how, since 2009, everything has changed and nothing has changed at all for this label of ours.
