the latest on lobster theremin white label comes from the canadian-based british up and comer dust-e-1. coming hot on the heels of his dust in the dance ep on collect-call records, dust-e-1 offers up more of his signature sun-drenched, percussive jungle workouts. on his latest offering the lost dustplates ep, dust-e-1 layers wistful dub motifs atop propulsive breakbeats and driving subs. fuzzed out, hard hitting drum and bass breaks are scattered throughout, fused perfectly onto hard steppin riffs and shifting rhythms evoking early 90s london days and deep-in-the-dance warehouse nights.

russian producer valya kan debuts on spencer parkers work them records with a four track sampler from her subterranean album dust and haze . leave opens up the sampler with tantalising synths and dubby effects before you re lead into ‘promises featuring valya kan s voice, uttering the track title whilst syncopated percussion and ghostly atmospherics work their magic. flip it over and you re hit with the whirring sci-fi elements and rattling samples in smoke in the cockpit. rounding off the sampler acid hotel is a more up-tempo, demonstrating rolling arpeggios and snappy snares.

the alishan forest railway is a 86 km network of narrow-gauge railways running through the forests of alishan mountain in chiayi county, taiwan. during the spring months, the iconic red train passes through an endless array of cherry blossoms and small, untouched villages. this peaceful scene is set in contrast to the stories told by locals, of wandering spirits seen deep in the forest. the spirits are believed to be the lost souls of the 32 passengers, who perished in the tragic derailment of the train in 1981. burn a candle in remembrance when you play this record at the club.
