folamour represents the present and future sounds of the disco/house hybrid, staying true to the glitterbox sonic philosophy. his tracks share the same production values as the timeless records from classic disco imprints in the late 70s, melodies are super-tightly harmonised, instrumentation is lively and the rhythms are designed purely for dance. ‘the power and the blessing of unity’ is almost a mini album, exploring all the facets of folamour’s sophisticated house and disco tendencies. the title track sparkles with brass stabs and a textbook swinging disco beat, ‘island of recent father’ breaks things down into synthy house goodness, ‘let’s grab some smokes’ channels a more contemporary low-fi sound and bringing it home with ‘home beyond the clouds’, folamour closes with uplifting house hooks and percussion. it’s a real trip.

one year has passed since the pilotwings’ first output « agorespace ». expectations went further in 2015 as they contributed to the rave-ish j-zbel project. the pair is now back on bfdm with another ode to rurality and old-fashioned analogue. including 4 tracks, « molitor 71 » goes deeper into retrofuturist nostalgia and bucolic mood. a1 31 septembre (on va tout niker) introduces full-on panflute melodies and uplifting korg exotica. as the trancy chicago dream fades out, a2 les invasions babar unveils its weird combo of electro beats and massive patrick cowley-esque synths. unplanned bass moves lead this jam while an undertaking voice calls for no less than « the greatest experience of your life ». things settle down on the nocturnal b1 congo libre. focus on breakbeats and sophisticated rhythms evokes trance beats, while sparkling synths emerge from everywhere. the ep ends up with a floating ambient piece called buruganda ouverture and designed for the listener to rediscover the meaning of his existence. molitor will give you faith in humanity and flutes again.

embezzlement society takes us back to the early days of 80s hip-hop with his ‘rough quarters ep. on his record the man from belfast heavily relies on funk-based drum loops as were popular in the glorious days of old school hip-hop. the results are two super casual tracks with a cool hip-house attitude just perfect for hip-house lover drei farben house who took the chance to contribute a remix in his slick and smooth style, merging the raw drums with some tender rhodes. tenderpark regular roman rauch finishes off the ep and slows down the tempo in his remix concentrating on the originals of the samples and displaying his mastery with the mpc once more. as always all tracks have been mastered and cut by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering.

the third issue of raw waxes’ release number four is on the way. after featuring mike parker, haiku, inigo kennedy and korova as remixers of the noisemaker, this time we see abstract division and blind observatory reinterpreting ‘shuttle’, the final track of the series. shuttle starts with a fat kick and a psychedelic synth, bleep and acid elements go back and forth, up and down, appearing from the gloom of the artist’ soul. hi-­&#8208,,,hats, acid and bleep evolve together, embracing acidity and generating a naughty groove. abstract division’s reinterpretation is clearly a 4/4 dance floor oriented. based on the evolution of the acid patterns as a minded loop, the dutch duo adds 909 hi-­&#8208,,,hats and claps, modify the the kick-­&#8208,,, bass structure, reaching a trusted track for exciting moments into clubs. blind observatory’s remix is the gentle side of the record. starting slowly and lightly, the artist sets a mellow synth plus clean hi-­&#8208,,,hats, turning the production into a sweet idm caress. a personal, delicate cut appraising the entire release.

this special release is dedicated to detroit dj legend ken collier. his untimely passing touched me personally as he was one of a small few who supported my music and me. because of ken collier, detroit developed a dance scene, which inspired artists & producers to make dance records, which gave birth to techno, which has provided careers for so many of you in the business today. so i dare ask all you techno producers, djs, record labels, record shops, clubs which play techno music and fans of techno to pay respect to ken collier just as you would our other fine music innovators. however, this special compilation isn t about techno, it s about h.o.u.s.e sound - broadcasting it to you from live inside the st-er-eo. this record contains no artist or track listing because i don t want this to be about who made the tracks, track titles, or even who wrote this commentary. this is my personal tribute to him, and how he has motivat ed me to make my contributions to house music. thank you ken collier, for helping me grow, not just as a dj or a record producer, but also as a person. every dj and dance artist here in detroit owes thanks to you for going out into the musical forest, chopping down trees and paving the way for us to build house.

an acclaimed young five piece from leeds, stateless have already displayed their mastery of beat driven guitar and turntable rock on previous releases. but their third single bloodstream, is their masterpiece. a 21st century blues ballad built from cinematic hip hop beats, super heavy bass and perfumed piano. it sounds both heartbroken and drunk on its own romantic intoxication. the berlin based producer and remixer henrik schwarz, one of germanys most respected djs, brings his trademark love of jazz and deep house to his version. schwarzs remix re engineers the track as a sleek dance tune, speeding up chris vocal into a restless, nervy, emotionally naked torch song. by contrast, the chic parisian re edit maestro pilooski strips the track down into a cubist collage of rhythmic throbs and sparkles, with a staccato piano melody pulsing through it like a heartbeat. its a playful and vibrant fusion, where soul baring yorkshire poetry meets sleek french disco chic.

im november 2021, kurz vor dem zweiten lockdown, wurden guillaume und louis von der nacht-crew in leuven eingeladen, ihr erstes gemeinsames dj-set seit beginn der pandemie zu spielen. zu dieser zeit hatte die nacht-crew gerade die erste physische veröffentlichung auf ihrem brandneuen imprint erhalten, und das team war begierig darauf, die platte in die welt hinauszutragen. für die zweite veröffentlichung war jedoch alles möglich. vor der show, irgendwo zwischen dem obligatorischen nasenabstrich und dem dritten drink, keimte die idee einer ungewöhnlichen zusammenarbeit auf.
