repress - threads is the debut album from london producer om unit, to be released on civil music in november 2013. while this is a debut full length for om unit, real name jim coles, it is in fact the producers fourth studio album, following from work in the 2000s under the name 2tall. having reset the clock on his artistic output in 2010, coles has spent the past three years refining a unique sound as om unit via collaborations with machinedrum on planet mu, releases on goldies metalheadz, dbridges exit records and civil music, his own cosmic bridge label and the short-lived phillip d. kick alias that fleshed out the links between chicagos footwork, jungle and slow/fast. the confluence of all this work takes full flight on threads.

2018 repress ,how much do you really know about nina kraviz? shes a russian techno dj, an accomplished producer, one of dance musics breakthrough names of the last five years. true enough, but theres so much more to her story than that. shes one of electronic musics most interesting characters, someone who has stuck to her musical guns since day one, someone who has wide-ranging roots that run deep in the past, yet shes also the embodiment of the future. her signature sound is a raw blend of house and techno with a very acidic feel. if that feels very now, kraviz has a lot to do with it, which is why she was asked to mix the latest instalment of !k7s landmark dj kicks series.

zed bias is an electronic music pioneer, throughout his career he has traversed genres with ease whilst all the while retaining his signature sound. it was in 2016 that he debuted on exit records with a three tracker featuring zoe violet, the release was a sign of things to come. modern u.k. soul delivered in the 160bpm format, this aesthetic has now been developed with the different response album. it s the sound of zed bias in 2017, undeniable soul with one eye on the dancefloor. hes gathered a formidable feature list to voice the album artists from his native manchester and beyond all lend their talents to the album. label owner dbridge says of the release: an lp that fits perfectly in what i believe exit is about. artists creating music with soul and a sound uniquely their own. zed has shown again whats possible when you listen to your own voice

a software engineer at ableton by day, sieren’s love for uk influenced bass music and field recording and experimental soundscaping resulted in his apollo debut ‘static polymorphism’ a masterly ep of spaced out street-rave soul.
now returning with the five track ascension ep, frick has tightened and toughened up his sound somewhat (see the caustic bass glower of ‘slinger’), augmenting his starry eyed wonder with a firmer percussive underpinning and more driving tempos. however still present are his preternatural grasp of emotion and atmosphere that marked him out as one to watch - perfectly underscored by the heartbreaking beauty of the title track.
fellow apollo cohort synkro aka joe mcbride was instrumental in the curation of sieren’s debut static polymorphism ep on apollo, hand picking the tracks, as well as road testing them in his dj sets. this time mcbride goes one further, collaborating with frick on the track ‘lost you’ to memorable effect - the beautiful pads and ghostly piano are a perfect synergy of their complimentary skill sets.

soaring imprint sentry records presents their second release, pairing up with the highly influential musician and multi-faceted artist nomine. the illustrious outlet - operated by equally respected producer and dj youngsta - is already being held in high regard by tastemakers and aficionados of dubstep around the globe. household names like these should need no introduction as their respective history reaches all the way back to the very conception of what has been coined as dubstep. their careers are firmly ingrained in the center of uk’s boiling music scene, being involved with labels such as tempa or deep medi and outlets like rinsefm or bbc radio. following up on the impact of the well-received debut record by dbridge, sentry records unleashes a minimalistic two-track journey, catalogued as ‘sen002’.

alix perez and spectrasoul have earned their stripes as pioneers of the deeper and more melodic side of the genre. these gentlemen are known for their versatility, and their progressive attitudes toward music. both acts came up through shogun, and their first collaboration forsaken quickly became a benchmark for quality in drum and bass. the synergy ep is 4 tracks of concise, stripped back, mature and soulful music that bumps. perez and spectrasoul have recently formed their own imprints, and as a celebration of this, the synergy ep is a joint release between the artists labels - ish chat music (spectrasoul), and 1985 music (alix perez). the ep has seen repeated support from dbridge, skeptical, lsb, lenzman, marky, ivy lab and others.

the trap – dom & roland the only -dat- master copy of this track was lost 20 years ago in 1997 somewhere between dom s studio and music house in holloway road. dom has been searching for this holy grail of -amen choppage- since, the only reference to it a crusty recording of a grooverider show from 1998. at various points there have been glimmers of hope of the wearabouts of the track in its entirety, with much excitement from avid followers who have given -the trap- a status akin to a cult classic film. many years, rifled sheds, boxes and lofts later, the breakthrough everyone is waiting for happens. it is christmas 2016 and a subversive character from australia sends in the full original quality version, recorded from dat tape, to dom & roland productions hq. after a full going over in dom’s lab and a wonderful new mastering job by beau at 1087 the amen legend known only as -the trap- is ready to be unleashed. swarm – dom & roland depending on who you ask the dubplate of this track from 1996 was called dark skies or the swarm. one of the first tracks to feature dom s reworked alternating clean and distorted -flow break- which later went on to become a layer in dom s famous -tramen- break. swarm features the switch from light to dark dom has become famous for. featuring one of the largest mentasm basses ever cut on a record alongside the -subway- thump bass that dom later used when producing the -ed rush hit record- of the same name. it has remained an exclusive gem in dom s vaults until now. originally only cut on plate by the a list of metalheadz blue note, this blueprint of bass is finally seeing a release this year. dj play: aphex twin, amon tobin, fabio, grooverider, peshay, loxi, andy c, break, fierce, doc scott, dbridge, goldie, ant tc1, gridlok, marcus intalex, sb81, ulterior motive, noisia
