dfa has long been a favourite at the bitches hq and we were chuffed to be asked to remix one of our favourite acts, the rapture. we certainly were not shy and dove headfirst into this mix bringing out the guitars and the lovely beach boy-esque harmonies twisting it into an indie-electro-house dance floor stomper. its not for the wallflowers to be sure.dfa have released this goodie digitally, but as we bitches love our biscuits, we had to see it released on vinyl. and of course, we must ensure premium sound quality so this release is 45 rpm on 180 gram vinyl. happy listening.

balans head honcho darko esser is on duty for his very first ep on balans records. remixes comes from peter van hoesen and regis & function a.k.a. sandwell district. the new year couldnt have started better.

the ep begins innocently enough. but as you progress into the tracks, entitled a1, a2, and a3, it feels like searching for pleasure where you know you shouldnt. the beat in this clandestine affair has just enough restraint. by the time darkside concludes, you know the catharsis is worth the sin.

silicone souls darkroom dubs label has pulled off quite a coup with their latest release. taking a retrospective look through the labels archive, the duo approached some of their favourite producers, asking them to rework and give their own take some of the music from previous releases... and boy are we in for a treat! the coup in question was the securing of the talents of a certain mr robag wruhme. currently enjoying the acclaim generated from his exquisite long player, >thora vukk< (pampa), wruhme has kindly turned his attention to remixing extrawelts >neuland< for darkroom dubs. the lead track from their 2010 >neuland< marked a key moment for the label, as silicone soul celebrated the signing of an act that they had admired for many years. robag provides not one, but two reworks of the stunning original, each as impressive and moving as the other. the second rework sees john selway turning filippo mancinelli & allen mays >the hills< on its head. the deepness of the 2009 original, is still in evidence as the atmospheric sounds sweep within selways wonderfully driving tech reconstruction.
