after three years in the making, the followup to light in the attic’s game-changing i am the center box set is finally here. the microcosm: visionary music of continental europe, 1970-1986 is the first major overview of key works from cosmically-taped in artists needing little introduction — vangelis, ash ra tempel, and popol vuh — and unknown masterpieces by criminally overlooked heroes like bernard xolotl, robert julian horky and enno velthuys.

some believe music developed as a way to bring early humans together into a close-knit community, and this collection of songs is a perfect example of that theory at work. beautiful vocals from lindsey flowers, an oklahoman ospovat met tokyo. killer sax blown in portland, oregon by noah bernstein, an exceptionally talented friend of ospovat s brother. a driving remix by pablo bolivar in barcelona, without whose generous advice this project would still be a work in progress. a mesmerizing remix by canadian label partner, fellow deadhead, and sound manipulator extraordinaire craig oldring (c_olvrin). and the words of david moufang, who speaks with conviction in *movin to the d* – *…music has a lot to do with communication … working with other people is really essential.* we couldnt agree more.

ross alexander payne has always been interested in the earth and its relationship to all in its vicinity, this includes earths place within the universe, and the presence upon earth of both natural and manmade systems and processes. drift and expansion are tracks designed to represent a view of earth from space. it was previously believed that the earth was expanding and thus the continental land masses were moving as a result of this process. modern scientific evidence does not support this idea, and the theory of plate tectonics is now almost universally accepted. this ep represents a view of the idea of these two disparate theories as if taken from the direct space around earth. ross explains in his words >everything i do, be it music related or otherwise, is driven by this fascination with the universe around me, the quest to discover this universe and the desire to expand my knowledge of all within it<

there are some records that manage to sound both of a time and utterly timeless and bon voyage organisation s jungle? quelle jungle? (a nod to supertramp s crisis? what crisis?) is one of those albums. its silken-smooth production, irresistible grooves, funk-tinged guitars, lush soundscapes and general glowing presence could easily lead one to believe that have dug up a lost disco gem from the 1970s. however, behind the disco-pop gleam lies eerie dystopian sci-fi ruminations of a futuristic bent and tones that can often feel as french as they do asian or african. this sort of cross-continental exploration is an expansion on bvo s previous two eps, the man behind the organisation, adrien durand, says. -i tried to continue the musical expedition between dystopian science-fiction haunted africa - plus haitian vaudou on -soleil dieu- - and futuristic asia. addressing, in a double entendre manner, some of the political issues that i am sensitive to.- in fact the jungle in question in the album s title is a metaphorical one and one that creates a vast series of environments for durand to explore such subjects as world trade, utopian ideals and themes of idols, as well as of time and communication. however, one will need to speak french to decipher such explorations, as well as shake off the natural impulse to move with every glorious beat on its 13 tracks, of which are moved along by maud nadal and agathe bonitzer s golden vocals.

ltd 2023 opaque violet vinyl repress - listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there . sampling still remains an ever present backbone throughout the album. session victim have dug deep for sounds, resulting in a richly detailed and organic sound collage that goes hand-in-hand with their live instrumentation, this time enhanced through several guest musician appearances, most notably carsten -erobique- meyer (ex-international pony). smooth guitar samples are built up on over and over while on moons & flowers the live instrumentals that session victim do so well come to the fore.

here is the latest from your favourite funky airline company and we are about to head skywards for the seventh journey. a1 sees the captain addressing the passengers in his most charismatic voice while the cabin crew is, well, pumping an irresistible in the air drum break over a partly sunny partly funky bassline. flip it over to b1 and watch stunt flyer ben aksar turn his *leftovers* into an intercontinental airshow while b2 elegantly shifts gears between a cloudy night-flight and the clear blue sky.
