commix completes his generation ep series with part 3, carrying on from where the 2nd instalment left off. again, the ep explores commixs influences from electronic music and beyond, culminating in an extremely polished final part that were excited to release.

matt edwards newly launched reissue label, r-time records, prepares its third release, the second instalment of sir lord comixx retroactive. r-time records shines a light on classic tracks that didnt always get the recognition they deserve, with the labels first two releases coming from sir lord comixx and fbk. real name amoon andrews, sir lord commix�s discography has been in high demand for many years, evident by soaring market prices. the a-side of retroactive (part two) features two tracks from a rare untitled release on hard up, whilst the b-side is made up of chicago jazz from the funk box ep on eukahouse (under his a.moon moniker in 98) and motionvibe from azid jazz ep on cynic in 05. cosmic synths join wonky arps in ur my omen before moving into the more up-tempo fog horn with its robust drums, off-beat bleeps and filtered effects. chicago jazz takes things into deeper territories with crystalline rhodes and jazz-influenced samples until motionvibe concludes the package with its syncopated structure comprised of twisted sounds, murky atmospherics and effervescent nuances.

rekids launch re-issue label entitled r-time records with four timeless tracks from sir lord comixx. having established a handful of renowned imprints such as rekids, pyramids of mars, cabin fever and the double r, matt edwards new venture aims to shine a light on classic tracks that didn t always get the recognition they deserve. amoon sir lord comixx and i go back a long way and we met through our friend justin isonoe in the early 90s,� says matt edwards. �i was still living in catford and would regularly drive over to justin s studio where he d play me all this crazy, otherworldly music from amoon and it blew my mind i was completely captivated by his unique take on techno. at the time i had no idea that we grew up in the same neighbourhood and amoon was living just around the corner so, of course, we hooked up and in 1996 i released an ep from him including one of his classics ur my omen on my hard up label.� composed of four tracks from separate releases, retroactive (part one) inaugurates with 1 4 the groove from sir lord comixx s danceteria ep on ugly music. produced in 96, the track s raw aesthetic features sharp percussion, heady melodies and a compelling groove. meanwhile, enemax - which appeared on 1a records demonstrates throbbing synths and shuffling drums. originally produced under his a.moon moniker in 98, funk box is the most robust track on the package with its thudding kicks and assortment of meandering sounds, before the azid jazz provides a deep and funky finale.

british deep house veteran sir lord commix is the latest producer to hand over dats of forgotten late 90s studio sessions to the team behind for those that knoe. predictably, they ve chosen four great cuts to release. first up you ll find the elastic synths, alien melodies and fizzing motor city percussion of early tech-house style shuffler -pieces of dream-, before the p-funk-influenced uk-us garage fusion of -leroy garage- takes us in an altogether breezier direction. flip for the jovonn style synthesizer melodies and groovy garage rhythms of -new jersey-, and the electro-inspired intelligent techno dreaminess of -destiny-.

commix is back and it�s a very welcome return. generation ep1 is a collection of tracks that were previously unavailable on vinyl and obviously very much in demand, not only that but two new commix tracks that lead the way for new material.

debut single for this hi-tech low-life straight from the slums of hong kong. the music of scott young is much like the city itself, intense and claustrophobic on one hand, dreamy and cinematic on the other. these tracks were made in what he calls the spaceshuttle energized by late night noodles under the shimmering neon signs.

little nobody Ð in fact australian expat andrez bergen, whos been based in tokyo these past 10 years Ð then decided to ask justin robertson (lionrock) to remix. while counting on robertsons experience rebooting bj�rk, happy mondays, fatboy slim, luke slater and felix da housecat, andrez is also a long-time fan and suspected the mix-master would have an absolute field day here Ð which he apparently did, giving the ingredients a good hearty shake and delivering a concoction that stunned everybody.

matt edwards� reissue label r-time records presents �after dark� this september with three tracks from mark the 909 king. following reissues of excellent music by sir lord commix, fbk and sanasol (thor & yagya), rekids offshoot r-time records now presents definitive cuts from mark the 909 king. debuting with the timeless �can you dig it!� on sex trax in �94, the producer went on to release via a number of new york house legend dj duke�s labels throughout the mid-nineties. a huge fan of dj duke since the 90s, matt edwards even held a sex mania night at berghain in 2009 featuring a rare dj performance from the duke himself. alongside tracks by roy davis jr and trackman (jon cutler), �after dark� featured as part of a va release on the label dj exclusive, whilst �into space� landed on rated x records, and �the loft� appeared on the �can you dig it� album via power music records. �after dark� set the tone of the package with a piercing drum groove, airy arpeggios and a funky bassline, before cosmic synths and crunchy snares work alongside scintillating chords in �into space.� concluding the package, �the loft� begins with a hooky bass sequence and filtered effects before soothing melodies come into play.

r-time records releases two tracks from iceland�s sanasol, aka thor and yagya, entitled long lost thoughts - originally appearing on deep thoughts lp via hey babe! in 97. out of all of thors aliases, which includes oz artists, flow machine and thor54, sanasol, his duo project alongside yagya, is arguably the most prolific. on top of appearances on thors own renowned imprint thule records, as sanasol the pair have released on fear of flying, connaisseur superieur and alex azary and pascal f.e.o.s.s hey babe! of which the latter homed the�deep thoughts album. matt edwards r-time now releases two of the long players finest tracks, following recent revivals of timeless music by sir lord commix and fbk. long lost thoughts begins by utilising filtered chord stabs alongside a thumping bass and sustained strings before the track progresses with ethereal pads combined with resonant bells playing a top line melody. on the flip, in the sky of normality presents shuffled drums with crisp hi-hats and a strong low-end whilst delayed synths pan left and right throughout keeping things atmospheric and mesmerising.

george levings of commix (metalheadz) and endian (secretsundaze) joins cynic with a mesmerising 9 minute long live mix of a few simple elements. felix joins george on the flip with a jam reminiscent of old boogie in the vein of maze, but with a creeping sinister undertone.

secretsundazes 021 comes in the shape of a 2 tracker from endian. for those that don t know endian is the house/techno alias of george levings most famously known as commix (metalheadz). endian was of course responsible for the huge finish me on secretsundaze in 2015 which was included on mixes by the likes of joy orbison, tessela and scuba. as endian he has released first rate tracks on the likes of non plus, electric minds and trevino s birdie imprint. global ep his 2nd ep for the label see s endian back in fine form. xs-10 is a futuristic, hypnotising burner that in the hands of the right dj is sure to be a deadly weapon. on the flip title track global is a warmer, deeper free flowing track with musical flourishes that will keep the party moving.

dnb associate, good friend, headonist, and culinary expert george levings is the second member of dnb super group commix to wander astray from the confines of 170 bpm. as endian he has forged himself a very credible reputation as an adept creator of underground dance music. these four offerings will further advance his credentials. with its sonic roots nicely split between chicago, detroit, london and manchester this ep has a nice balance between old and new. there are 3 tracks he has produced individually and a forth he did with label boss trevino. enjoy...

secretsundaze 017 comes from london based producer endian. releasing just 2 eps in a few years on nonplus and electric minds, endian has nevertheless managed to to turn the heads of the likes of steffi who used one of his tracks for her panorama bar compilation and boddika who also licensed a track for a various artists ep. sounding like a producer far more experienced than the two releases would indicate, it came as no surprise that this is far from the the output of a novice but the seasoned veteran george levings aka commix (metalheadz).

after becoming an iconic figure at electric minds club events in recent years heidelberg�s move d is heading in the same direction release�-wise as he gears up for his second consecutive release on the label arm of the club night. the ever�-reliable bastion of disco�-inspired house returns to the fold with a sumptuous slice of melancholic psychedlia in the shape of �to the disco �77�. bliss�-inducing guitar strings meet ominous synth lines as the track organically ebbs and flows to a dramatic climax. a true master class in the art of delayed gratification. his previous hybrid minds ep for the label was his only release of 2012 and now has been re�interpreted by some of the electric minds extended family. retrofit head honcho jay shepheard opts for a classic piano�-house led offering for his remix of �got 2 b whilst former member of commix endian goes for a more refined approach for his version of the same track. join the dots founder duff disco takes the tempo down a notch with his groove�-laden re�-rub of �useless� to round off the diverse vinyl�-only package.

a new project emerges harnessing the collective powers of a trio of artists who are riding high at the moment on a collective base of success and pure raw talent - maya jane coles, george levings (commix) and alex jones (hypercolour, playhouse and many others.. ) as you would expect from such a high calibre project the music is nothing short of superb - the a side is a glorious nod to the classic tech house sound that emerged in the 90s - an exciting and vibrant time for house music in general, this untitled gem bumps along on an infectious groove with an underlying griminess keeping the vibe grinding along in all the right places. the flip side juxtaposes this rawness with a beautiful melancholic and melodically flecked early hours ride. a real mood piece with a definite sense of warmth to bliss out the dancefloor.

limited 1st run on marbled grey vinyl !3rd in this superb deep techno series, support from: sandwell district, scratcha dva, sigha, james ruskin, mark broom, claude young, steven tang, billy nasty, delta funktionen, miles sagnia, morphosis, ben sims, commix, jerome sydenham, regis, shifted, function etc... surface return with the third in its beneath the surface series, following on from the extremely well received between worlds release. journeys to the deep volume 2. is an important and personal record to nick and the surface camp in general, paying tribute to family elder jessica dunton and her influence on nick and his families lives, and her long fight to continue living against the odds! facing the heavens- sees nick take on his much lauded ever vivid moniker delivering an extremely fitting tribute that somehow blurs the boundaries between the early classic emotive sounds of 90s uk techno, house and 70s funk.. cutting synth lines drenched in soul develop throughout the track taking us on a deep yet strangely uplifting journey, the chord sequence beautifully maintains the mood, but for us at the office its all about the detail, piercing moog leads, emotive strings and rhodes, all driving along at pace on top of a reese type melodic bassline and rolling 808 drums. this is as comfortable in a club as it is at home. timeless in its approach, with a purist touch. on the flip nick duntons >leaving the planet< is an altogether different beast.. beautifully produced and super deep, this is the classic dunton sound of late, harmonic drifts and carl craig 69 era strings morph between lush sustained textures, that somehow float above the powerful pulsing bass, that imitates a heartbeat and really gives this track a haunting feeling that when coupled with the hypnotic phasing drums, and fluttering reverberating stabs make it is as deep as the sea, yet beautifully bass heavy. this is nick taking his wide screen cinematic sound and stripping it bare whilst losing none of the evocative touches that have made his recent music so affecting

subwave returns to metalheadz for a musical outing that will certainly have a few scratching there heads in wonderment, this is not the usual output we hear from headz but it sits just perfectly with releases like commix remix album >recall to mind<. >naked lunch< takes us on a journey into deep house electronics, lush strings and slick programming all the way this is fit for any dance-floor. on the flip >raindance< takes us into dubstep territory � if you are a fan of nonplus and disfigured dubz then this is most certainly for you, its warm, moody (in a good way) and beautifully crafted, there is even a hint of old school detroit in this one ...
