'the talk' is zoo brazil's first ep for dessous. the title track kicks off with some dry dub influenced beats before some beautiful keys and a warm bass come in. percussive elements and nice strings complete a deep and cosy track. next on is 'rush', a thrilling track with nervous acidic multi-layered synth attacks and punching beats. 'doing it' on the b-side completes the package with a hypnotizing acid influenced house tune. bubbling synth-lines, clapping beats, a full-on bass drum and interesting turns in the structure of the track make this a sure shot for advanced dancefloors

for their first multi-artist compilation, music from memory take us on a trip to the heart of the amazon rainforest. outro tempo: electronic and contemporary music from brazil, 1978-1992 is a double lp that explores the outer reaches of brazilian music, where indigenous rhythms mix with synthesizers and where mpb mingles with drum computers. as brazil faced the last years of its military dictatorship and transition to democracy, a generation of forward-thinking musicians developed an alternative vision of brazilian music and culture. they embraced traditionally shunned electronic production methods and infused their music with elements of ambient, jazz-fusion, and minimalism. at the same time they referenced the musical forms and spirituality of indigenous tribes from the amazon. the music they produced was a complex and mesmerising tapestry that vividly evoked brazilian landscapes and simultaneously reached out to the world beyond its borders.

its probably safe to say that youve never heard anything like brothers of brazil before. for the past three years the brotherly duo of supla and joao have been combining elements of traditional brazilian music such as bossa nova and samba with rock and funk to create a unique sound thats won over countless fans in brazil, and now theyre ready to expand worldwide with the release of their self-titled album. the duo was started when the brothers landed their own national variety show in brazil called brothers on rede tv. supla and joao realized then that when they collaborated the results were beyond what they had ever imagined.

2021 repress - huge, the full unreleased version of the o.g bboy classic brazilian rhyme straight out the sony tape vaults ( i made that sound easier than it was). not just one for hip-hop heads, the appreciation of this groove is pretty much universal. the track is an uncredited cover of toninho horta s -beijo partido- most likely directly influenced by milton nascimentos version from the lp minas which is a great cheap lp while we are on that. on the flip for the first time on 45 (until someone tells me there is some random german or thai pressing) is one of my old modern spins, best 45 of the year and its only march.
