this mirror-like musical progression starts with lots of dynamics and harmonies which then continue with a more sonically tranquil section while heading towards a dynamic ending, thus completing the symmetry and binding both parts in a seamless album.

reaching its 15th release, amphia sees the return of cezar lazar’s double ep, intuitively called “archetypes”. known for his innovative approach both behind the decks and productions, cezar’s creative alter-ego enacts a variable puzzle with hard-edged sonic pieces laid out over five tracks, each with their own distinct acoustic palette. side a holds “equtime”. this side-long track envelops a stripped-down melody with perforated rhythmical pads, fleshed out with disconnected threads of vocals. side b is dedicated entirely to “badgervox”. displaying a weighty bass section alongside the shuffled percussion work, its intricate melody is integrated smoothly creating a unique soundscape. “thicken court” holds the first half of side c. sharp in its composition, it holds an assorted percussion ensemble and a collection of fizzy waveforms. they complement a thunder-like bass protagonist that holds the center stage. we continue with “boe dark”, where textures and sharp tones grow in layers upon layers creating tension. the apex is reached when modular timbres are hindered by sparse piano patterns, completing this electro-acoustic scenery. on the flipside, “wedmar” holds the key to our puzzle with its accurate four-to-the-floor feat. with a series of programmed overlapping organ vibes, the sound feels both piercing and intense, creating a sort of sensory impairment. “archetypes” displays cezar lazar s gentle subtleties and fluency in different dialects of idm.

galaxies in our universe seem to be achieving an impossible feat. they are rotating with such speed that the gravity generated by their observable matter could not possibly hold them together, they should have torn themselves apart long ago. this leads us to believe that something we cannot see is at work. this strange and unknown matter is called “dark matter” since it is not visible.
dark matter affects the speed, structure and evolution of everything, yet its nature remains a mystery we are yet to explore. this potent, affecting darkness is paralleled in dewalta s newest creation, a double 12“ vinyl release on amphia.

wareika steps up for the amphias 12th vinyl chapter. the german trio walks off the beaten techno trail, applying just enough pressure on the bassline pedal to envelope your attention on the sinusoidal theme from break new sol, revealing at the end a rewarding guitar solo, hidden all this time under the crisp percussions. on a train again completes side a, with its industrial ambient modulations steadily stabbed by the derailed cadence.
sit reinterprets wareika on side b: a more dancefloor oriented take, with just a few breaks from the devilish rhythm, enough to give the crowd some time to breathe into the tracks odd atmosphere. wareika s playful harmony makes a great addition to amphias musical path.

dubtil’s debut for amphia comes in line with the previous 10 releases’ tagline: tailoring new musical perspectives into the multidimensional universe of electronic music. the opener -indoiala- sticks into our brains with its slow decaying voices, pitched down to embrace the devilishly simple percussion. keeping the same eerie approach to his idea of dancefloor oriented loops, dubtil completes side a with -alta schema-, another typical kick-led experience enveloped into a more haunting bassline. bearing a deep house dna yet not losing contact with the dancefloor energy through its breaks pattern, side b’s -repet slap repet- opens the gates to the abstract structure of -contrar-, an apparently chaotic contiguity of weird samples, glued to each other by the minimalistic bassline. jumping from one genre to another, confronting dusty preconcieved ideas just to turn them into a fresh sound: dubtil’s imagination fountain is far from getting dry! we now have the tangible proof.

both tracks reflect his signature sound, taking time to evolve into soundscapes that expand outside the familiar borders. the latin american influences embedded in * choice of ancillaries* leave us hints of its vivid melody surfacing beneath its tight percussions. on the b side we find its darker counterpart, * grounds and shields*, treating us with a more acoustic flow, sewn graciously around the incisive bassline.
* the balancing act ep* adds a new layer to the ever expanding catalogue of works under the amphia imprint.

cristi cons and vlad caia aka sit conclude their sideways trilogy with three dancefloor oriented tracks, meant to awake different feelings in each one of us. the sample embroidery molded into the pure acid form of angels will leave us smiling in wonder. the fast paced scratch theme from reconnect may satisfy our dancing hunger, or we can just lose ourselves into the myriad filtered bits of shadow, with its breaks sequence as our only guiding path. this is the last piece of the sideways’ puzzle, when the last droplets of energy left inside our bodies, after this 15 tracks long analog ride, are spent for seizing the present. the closing moment, when the curtain falls and our minds are still trying to decipher the hidden message. a message that points out to the diversity of electronic music envisioned through sit s creative touch.

2nd part with six huge hypnotic monster tunes

cristi cons and vlad caia are household names that really need no further introduction. their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. such is the case of sideways, their latest lp, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
the first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. although most of the tracks fit the usual sit musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. brooklyn’s deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it’s best. for sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. on a more joyful manner we are presented next with bootcamp s sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.
mandatory claims a whole side of the second disc and so does come around. while the first is almost experimental but danceable and warm due to the occasional driving percussions and 303 sounds the latter is the star of the show. come around is 15 minutes long and comes with a story too. a great collection of tracks, a great story that backs each one of them makes the first part of the sideways lp trilogy a treat to listen and dance to.

colorhadoo makes his amphia debut with two enticing tracks while cristi cons delivers the house s remix. on the a side we are presented with * j strawbberry*, an atmospheric track which slowly slips away into a mind-bending realm, where broken voices come and go under different shapes and the listener is engaged by occasional eclectic explosions. a beautiful work and trouble waiting to happen when properly used. side b has cristi cons taking the interpretation duties of the main track. the remix keeps the general mood of the original with a twist, everything is wrapped around a tight groove with shattering low end work, ideal for those early mornings. we continue with * zanzibar*. this second track on side b takes the artistic vision into reverse. no more voices to be heard, huge spaces are reduced to just a solid groove. the track is guided by hypnotic pads and sounds while the emblematic percussion section is conducted by none other than colorhadoo himself. dont listen to this in the dark!
