elastic dreams, a new label for 2011, bringing out no-hype, no bullshit, deep and warm electronics. music for the mind, as well as the feet, expect to hear techno, ambient, new-beat and other frequencies over coming releases with music coming from nyra, skudge, md2 and a sagittariun. debut release here from a sagittariun, with remixes from md2 aka mike dehnert. a sagittariun looks up to the constellations to bring the first release on elastic dreams the circle stops somewhere is a simple groove with a sweet and melodious synth riff that comes alive throughout the track, some have made comparisions to ames classic rej, whilst not really in that league, circle maintains the dynamic pace with powerful 909 patterns whilst keeping a nice warm analogue vibe. telepathic heights is a brooding, percussive experience with a growling bass riff and enveloping keys with sci-fi elements to its composition. md2 (aka mike dehnert/fachwerk) comes good on the remixes on the flip side. his mello mix is a disjointed and muscular groove that rips apart the original synth riff, and bends and warps it over solid md2 beats to make a real low-slung funky workout. md2s hard mix does what it says on the tin, a relentless bass booming groove and spongy use of the originals samples, this is md2 at his very best!

more leftfield techno sounds from one of the scenes more unassuming producers, a sagittariun delivers a new single stamped with his trademark sound aesthetic. the ‘fahrenheit 451 ep brings together three new productions in lieu of a new album coming later in the year. the golden apple brings together brain scrambling drums, a heavy hoover bassline, and a typically sagi style wormhole riff, whilst blue lotus throws tropical shapes around the broken beats that flourish into a rapid 4/4 stomper, with scattering hats and equatorial ambience giving a unique vibe. a sagittariun strays into disco territory on liebe tanzen, flitting between modern intergalactic synth riffs & basslines, and sampled disco drums. hand stamped 12 vinyl, limited to 150 copies - global pr and marketing campaign from hype filter re-moulded, 25 years after it was produced, for release on his elastic dreams label.

with a brimming catalogue of music that operates in the more adventurous quarters of the techno music genre, a sagittariun preps his first release of 2018, with a remix disc of one the holy grail of tracks from one of the most endearing electronic acts of the 1990s. the sabres of paradise, aka andrew weatherall, gary burns and jagz kooner, released a clutch of acclaimed albums, singles and remixes between the years 1992 and 1995, when the trio disbanded. three albums for warp, remixes of the future sound of london, leftfield & lydon, bjork, new order and the dust brothers (aka chemical brothers), and not forgetting the now legendary smokebelch ii single, which must have soundtracked hundreds of thousands of sunsets and chillout after hours over the years, have left a huge treasure trove of a catalogue as part of their legacy. one production though has gone down in sabres folklore, since its release was limited to inclusion on one multi artist compilation cd album only, and it is this track, lick wid nit wit, that a sagittariun has unearthed, licensed and re-moulded, 25 years after it was produced, for release on his elastic dreams label.

fresh from his ævanishing point single on uk label hypercolour, which saw the lead track hit the beatport leftfield house & techno sales chart at #1 for four weeks, a sagittariun is back on his elastic dreams label with the æslightly ajar ep. as always, a sagittariun brings an eclectic melting pot of flavours to each of his eps, blending detroit techno, ambient house, highly charged electro, dramatic synths and transcendental vibes.

one of the current techno scene’s ‘hidden treasures’, bristol based a sagittariun has discretely released a wide breadth of music over the last five years for labels like secretsundaze, hypercolour and his own elastic dreams label. two highly acclaimed albums in “dream ritual” and “elasticity” as well as fifteen eps have appealed to those who like their techno without frontiers, taking in blistering 140bpm techno, breakbeat idm and ambient dub with ease. his second release for hypercolour displays signs of crossover appeal at long last… lead track “vanishing point” has already been receiving early plays from the likes of laurent garnier (dropping it in his recent timewarp germany set), spencer parker and len faki. big pumping beats and spiralling fx fall aside to a lone breakbeat that ushers in one pretty special breakdown section. the childlike keys and fathoms deep synth stabs (straight out of the john carpenter school of fathoms deep synth stabs) have already drawn comparisons to the retro 80s vibes to be heard on the american sci-fi horror series stranger things. it’s a breakdown that takes the listener to an uncharted dimension, bookended by slammin’ beats that acts as a perfect mood changer in any set. watch this one soar! “the pathway” keeps things on an all together straighter tip, an incessant tribal loop weaves and filters around a thunderous kick and shuffling hats, ebbing and flowing all the way in what might be a sagittariun’s most club-centric and stripped back production yet. matrixxman (dekmantel/spectral sound) is on hold to deliver a superb remix, pushing the original down a long dark tunnel for a growling and reverberating techno overhaul

repress 2017 , a sagittariun arrived in late 2011, fully formed, and with a strong agenda to release musical dispatches from the front line of the constellation. he has indulged in astrological techno, spiritual house music, bass heavy dub rhythms and ambient paths. this his first ep for secretsundaze supplying three original tracks in his trademark style.

we ve been closely watching the rise of a sagittariun ever since he first popped up with his consistently excellent elastic dreams label back in 2011. what started out as an anonymous project has since been revealed as the handiwork of nick harris, a long time champion of the bristol house and techno scene since before most of us were even hitting the dance. his music has been flying out with a no nonsense approach self-released, minimal promo, just cracking club-ready 12inches that tap into the fierce-but-fun spirit of detroit techno and albums loaded with smokers delights to appease his west country roots.

following a run of local transmissions from a sagittariun, crump, rob smith and atki2, idle hands turns its attention to berlin and the straight-up, no-nonsense techno thrust of johanna knutsson and hans berg. both respected artists and djs in their own right, the pair have been turning out 12inches together for the free spirit society, klasse and crime city disco over the past few years, but most importantly they ve been steering the excellent ufo station recordings as a vessel for their punchy, primal techno tracks. the sound on this ep taps into the pure form of stern, dark dancefloor tackle favoured at idle hands – no extraneous filler, plenty of space in the mix, but equally built with warmth and personality rather than monochrome functionality. if you need further proof, just look to the fact the ep is named after a swedish soap opera from the 90s. the bleeps and bass tones that pulse through -taggen- are so finely crafted they need not skip and dance around the arrangement. the melodic interplay on -klimax- is subtle but ultimately uplifting and optimistic where so much techno concerns itself with oppressive gloom. -bimbo- finds the pair embracing a more psychedelic approach, but even here the modulating effects processes are kept within certain boundaries so as to not dilute the impact on the floor. after all, this is music to dance to, to be felt over a large system (where possible). moving from leftfield bass excursions to minimalist 2-step, uk techno and now onto this much more continental sound, themälarviken ep continues to widen the range of idle hands musical tastes without losing sight of the complete picture.

since releasing his last album on hypercolour in february 2016 (æyou existÆ), dmx krew has not for one moment rested on laurels, releasing two further lps on the ekster and abstract form labels, as well as eps and singles for central processing unit, shipwrec, revoke and more. continuing to remain faithful to the roots of electro, idm and the deeper shades of techno, and without compromise, dmx krew cranks out emotive and brain scrambling electronica at a mighty rate, and never disappoints. æstrange directionsÆ is album number 21 from dmx krew, and lands once more on hypercolour, the british label that continues to make heady waves in the music scene with genre shifting releases from the like of matthew herbert, luke vibert, gary gritness, the cyclist, outboxx and a sagittariun in the last 12 months alone. youÆll know what kind of ride you are in for from the first few bars of album opener æsnowy blueÆ, hypnotizing bass and spatial keys float over dusty micro breaks, produced with an infectious aesthetic that continues over the long playerÆs fifty-five minute tenure. experimental and expansive joints such as æodd chillÆ and æstrange directionsÆ sit comfortably alongside funkier techno jams such as æthin hypeÆ and æzero sumÆ, whilst the melancholic synth sensibilities of tracks like æhip hopelessÆ and æaxial mode beatÆ catches dmx krew on fine form.

maeve label honcho the drifter and co-emperor of the permanent vacation kingdom, benjamin fröhlich, team up for some rascal business. always quick to pull the sling shot out of the back pocket and hit you right between the eyes, the original version of -waterville- is full of hazy melodies, washed out bells and quirky arpeggios backed up with concrete drums for some extended dancefloor meditation. while the high tide mix wraps things up a bit with some more prominent drums and a little extra spice on the bassline. mysterious uk producer a sagittariun sculptures out of the original a breakbeat house track, that sounds like a hidden treasure from this short but influential period.

bristols elastic dreams present its third release, with label owner a sagittariun taking a back seat on this one and introducing sheffield based dj/producer, nyra, to the fold. hot off the heels of his ep for never learnt, nyra keeps on track with two new cuts of basement techno and deep, murky dancefloor tracks. the release is bolstered by a remix from skudge on lead track >uno 10<. skudge really need no introduction, but to the uninitiated, the swedish duo have been plying their simple, raw yet powerful sound since 2009 with releases and remixes for echocord, drumcode, fear of flying, rush hour and of course their own skudge imprint.

lets start with the italian ilario alicante and his dj-mix to get the immediate scoop of what makes this guy so special: we cannot describe it other than saying this mix rules! strong but relaxed at the same time with a good variation and xxl deepness in the selection makes this mix a great house-excursion. this is the sound of hot summer nights and happy people dancing til the morning. you can imagine this very special summer party vibe while listening to ilarios mix which incorporates the right elements such as emotional piano-breaks, cool vocal-samples, kicking house-beats and hypnotic basslines.
