brothers black kick off their self-titled label with brbl001, a four-track original techno ep. following prior releases on their own joint imprint, bade records, and family labels safer at night and voxnox records, brbl is a new home where the pair will curate their own sound and productions. the pair kick off the a-side with creep oder was? , a stripped down vocal banger that teams hard-edged percussion with an acidic lead. the a2, axe to grind , combines dub chords with raw rolling percussion to create a deep hypnotic atmosphere. on the flip side, the b1 only human is a tense, driving tool with industrial tones that s perfect for the peak time hours. the b2, imagination barrier , is a frantic 140bpm techno exploration that combines the duo s signature vocals with heavily 90s influenced percussion.

the artists featured on this release were carefully chosen in order to create an eclectic sonic journey.
on the a side, two tracks from playful death, a producer whose sounds are influenced by comics such as biomega and the invisibles.
the first track on the b side is from yxan, which is micheal idehall’s techno alias. michael is a multi-talented artist who leads a publishing house called belzebez that also features many of his own artworks and has had releases on prominent labels such as ant-zen.
next up is necropants a producer who enjoys roaming around graveyards and and seeking out ancient burial mounds. the last track on the b side was created by bellatrix?, an up and coming producer from verona, italy who has recently released an excellent ep on the veleno viola imprint. bellatrix? also heads a tape label called culto verona.

russian born anastasia vtorova is based in berlin and makes music under the name machine woman. prior to joining the technicolour ranks, she has released two 12”s - via the self-titled imprint of swedish producer peder mannerfelt (2015) and uk label where to now? (2016) - plus a handful of very limited cassettes via sacred tapes (2015), tesla tapes and ono (2014).

south london ordnance debuts on parachute. the british producer marks his first release of 2017 with parallel window, a four track ep featuring three wrought-iron originals and remix from token & blueprint affiliate, sigha. driven and direct, the music marries rolling low end with high energy drum machine percussion and wide angle highs - for the most part eschewing anxious, heads-down austerity in favour of a more uplifting, trancelike approach - spread across multiple bpms. despite the heady, crushed finish - shifts in tone are subtle, developing over prolonged periods, with careful modulation drawing sounds in and out of the sonic hinterland sporadically to create a comfortable atmospheric balance between peak-time dance-floor urgency and hazy mid-set moments. on his remix, sigha hones in on this sentiment - lifting the caustic lead bassline from parallel window and augmenting it with trademark cavernous low end, skittering highs & a rolling lead arp to create a hypnotic, half-time dirge.

restive plaggona is the music project of the corfu-based artist dimitris doukas –also producing under matriarchy roots, leftina osha and plaggona-. after releasing a series of cassettes in different labels along 2016 and 2017 –including his own several minor promises- “leaving the body” arrives as an electronic composition of beats and synthesizer bodies disguised as a sense of provocation and mystery. each of the seven pieces offers more than a smattering of interesting textures separated by spans of great decline, but a master class of permutations in-between accompanying sounds, stretching rhythms and viscera-and- violence noises. driven by a deeply expressive narrative, restive plaggona makes a strong statement about his post-industrial vision adding technoid inclinations in a delightful dystopian world.

polish beatmaker pawel strzelczyk has been slinging out all manner of beats as teilete since 2010, largely on the u know me label, but now he brings his dynamic technicolour sound to father & son to surely catapult his skills to a wider audience. there s a rich musicality at work throughout magnetic soul/magnetic tree, as blues samples, rich orchestration, dubstep rhythms, juke patterns and soulful vocals all swirl around in a highly accomplished blender. the attention to detail is remarkable and the production is pristine, but for all the daring ideas and studio skill this is also an incredibly immediate listen that draws you in from the start.
