mit ihrer formation chic und hits wie „dance, dance, dance“, „good times“ und „le freak“ mischten nile rodgers und bernard edwards in den späten siebzigern gehörig die internationalen discofloors auf. wie keine andere band verstanden es chic, die essenzen von rock, funk und disco zu einem schweißtreibenden, endlos goovenden und gleichsam cool eleganten mix zu verbinden. das ergebnis war ein unvergleichlicher, stets wiedererkennbarer sound, der bis heute unzählige bands nachhaltig beeinflusste.
erstmalig im vinyl-format erhältlich, bietet der nun vorliegende, exzellente konzertmitschnitt „le freak live“ ausgewählte highlights von ihrem letzten (reunion-) gig (tokyo / budokan 1996), bei dem sie zudem von ex-guns n’ roses gitarrist slash, der vocalgruppe sister sledge sowie stevie winwood (auf der hendrix-coverversion „stone free“) unterstützt wurden. zugleich dokumentiert diese veröffentlichung tragischerweise den letzten auftritt von bernard edwards, der nur kurz danach in tokyo verstarb.

discotheque fantastique is a musical collaboration that produces an eclectic spectrum of genres, somewhere between psychedelic rock, rare groove, funk and cosmic disco.

the first release is an ep with three driving tracks. the first track by discotheque fantastique -carnaval- has a percussive beat, hypnotic bassline, solid funk breaks with layers of tension. the second track by herr 2003 s -bourdonnement de l amour- is an amazing rework of a classic 70 s psychedelic rock tune with a groovy bass line, punchy female vocals and a shimmering arpeggiator synth. on the b side, club bizarre delivers an incredible extended version of a classic french cut from the 80 s.

2018 repress / vinyl only!! with its debut release, in any case is trying to give you the best and dustiest takes on house, hip-hop and disco, packed on one and only piece of wax. we are very proud to showcase five amazing tracks from five different artists from around the world on this first record. mr. pc from detroit (us) kicks things off with a stunning disco edit, “boogie with me” delivering a mastered groove throughout the whole title, perfect for all the dancefloors. then comes “another lonely man” by martin hayes from leipzig (de). we’re left with a heavy bottomed-end track featuring lush strings and nice vocals. on the flip, we’ve then got pascal viscardi from geneva (ch) and his “fuorigrotta” that comes from deep, deep down with its heavy kicks cutting through amazing synths and disco loops, packed together with that 90’s sp1200 sampler flavour. then, malouane from france (fr) continues the trip with “i did this at work”, another bass-heavy groove melting down below some perfectly arranged samples. finally, we’ve got g2s & ibn sabaa from france (fr) with their “dumb ruler”, a short and wonky hip hop instrumental, blending the fender rhodes sound we all love with dripping hats and screwed breakdowns. there is something for every taste here, so jump on it while it’s hot !

positive centre marks the 5th release on his in silent series label with 4 tracks of weighted mechanical workouts that feature his honed atmospheric style with brooding scenery and sharp percussive accents. isolated loop takes a crunched and spat out growl of an acid synth and blends it with ever developing drum machine patterns as a weaponised techno tool. tension arm builds on this with sharp percussion piercing over a hard edged bassline and atmospheric scenery. idle roller is a deep, sub-aquatic rhythm journeying to parts unknown with subtle switch in rhythm keeping the momentum going through this textured sound world. sum tolerance fractures open with stretched sounds of otherworldly instruments, sludge laden beats and humming bass pressure.

new from the ever discerning nous camp comes ayln s rehtomep, a 25 minute exploration of the kind of unrelenting machine music for which both artist and label have come to prominenc. side a is a journey through sparse syncopated rhythms, industrial noise motifs and the kind of buzz and hum that the heroes of the second wave of techno music championed, culminating in the ep s title track rehtom which is an exercise in analogue techno mastery. side b s delivery is subtly more dulcet, kicking off with digital memories, which has a more classical techno structure than anything that came before, building intricate melodies into an otherwise taut and tightly woven electronic landscape while the closing impulsive sheit is a gentle downbeat number, exploring the space within the music and creating an atmospheric ambient discourse to outro the heady charge of the ep as a whole.

hike: cristal clear lakes, impressive mountains, soothing forests and berlin techno music. the tazekka national park in morocco features forests of cork oak and holm oak, caves, canyons, rural landscapes, cascades and a mountain jbel tazekka which is some 1.980 meters high. its a joy to hike through, yet it flies under the radar of most visitors to morocco. sometimes, if youre really lucky, you can find a beautiful aragonite near a spring in one of the beautiful caves, that belong to the national park.

sonic groove’s latest high octane addition to the roster is berlin based british artist rebekah. rebekah has led a successful artist and dj career in the techno scene over the past five years with releases on the prolific clr and soma imprints as well as her own labels elements and decoy. her soma album from a few months ago entitled “fear paralysis” shows her artistic skills of having a wide range of flexibility as she weaved through many styles of techno from deep to hard.
taking her artistry into further realms of sound construction, rebekah ventures into a much harder industrial techno terrain with her latest four cut release entitled “into the black”. designed specifically with sonic groove in mind. “loose mechanics” & “conquest” are ferocious industrialized peak time techno pulverizers that will turn stone into dust.
“into the black” is an advant garde broken beat track with a pitch shifting, hauntingly dissonant string drone would be the perfect score for a sci-fi horror flick while “war cry” turns the blackness into a lighter shade of grey with it’s complexly designed chord driven emotions layered over a very intricately programmed drum rhythm.

inner8 is daniele antezza, a multi-faceted thinker and electronic music producer, member of dadub duo, co-founder of artefacts mastering studio, dadub studio owner and holotone label manager, whose regular invocation of the term praxis begins to hint at his creative aims: a primary synthesis of contemplation and action that, in turn, encourages a secondary and entirely unpredictable set of syntheses dependent upon the listener s unique interpretation. though the inner8 moniker has been in existence for several years as a private nickname for, as antezza puts it, his -experimental anarchist sounds,- his recent releases are just now surfacing which will reveal just how much this project has to communicate.

in silent series, the new record label from british born artist michael jefford (aka positive centre), sets out to cultivate exploratory releases from a broad selection of artists that focus on the potential of technology to create transportive and reflective images.
reassembly lays out this path, bringing together a collection of positive centre’s reimagined and previously unreleased works, featuring a monumental reconstruction of hiding knives by shxcxchcxsh.

i ve been inspired by the seasons, sounds of nature, the stars and the phases of the moon. observing these elements helps me realize that i am such a small piece of this universe. with all this in mind i began producing a 4 season album series.
we start off with hokkori shiyo - which in japanese means *smoking a joint together with friends*. this is an organically composed production which synchronizes with the elements.
my father recorded his own natural frequency and you can hear his defining voice during this track, combined with the frogs from a lake.
