(lena platonos) is a greek musician, pianist and music composer. one of the pioneers of greek electronic music, she remains active today. lena was born in heraklion, crete, and grew up in athens. she began learning how to play the piano at the age of two and became a professional pianist before turning eighteen. soon afterwards, she received a scholarship to study in the the berlin and vienna academies , where she was exposed to jazz, rock and middle eastern music. she returned to greece in the late 70s and began working with the hellenic broadcasting corporation.

travis egedy is the technomancer. you ll know him as pictureplane, the brooklyn-based multimedia artist whose forays against the status quo have disrupted fashion, galleries, and music in kind. while his 2011 album, thee physical, explored sensation and human touch, his newest dives into more ethereal territory: the anxiety of daily life in an era defined by constant technological interaction and observation. but the 11 songs heard here — fleshed out using sonic scraps of industrial, darkwave, 80s ebm, 90s house — aren t purely paranoiac. as the title implies, technomancer is as much about rediscovering the magic in our relationship with our machines.

little beat different issues is a new series focused on reissuing music from eastern european regions previously unavailable on western markets. the first release is a compilation by project orm, the moniker of czech producer team petr and pavel orm. originally formed as a disco group in the late 1970’s, pioneers of electronic dance music in former czechoslovakia, petr and pavel quickly rose to fame as the country’s eminent pop producers. working with the then icons of the communist czechoslovak scene such as karel gott and josef laufer, they stand behind countless hits from that era. however, not many knew that the duo also released their own records, whose sound and artistic direction was different to their mainstream pop productions. this compilation cherry-picks the tracks from 4 different albums released between 1979 and 1984.

the omnibus band was founded by jarda zajpt and petr dikan in 1979 in czechoslovakia. having met at the electronic high school, electronics was their field of expertise. over time, petr dikan constructed several sound devices such as the Šílený fridrich (Šf, crazy frederick) keyboard and the vsd (všude samý dráty/wires everywhere) generator which he operated during the recordings and also at concerts. at that time, heavily influenced by brian eno and robert fripp from the king crimson band, jarda zajpt played the guitars, using all kinds of effects, pre-recorded tapes, and one or more interconnected tape recorders. the first record, “israels”, was produced between 1980 and 1982. in 1985, jarda zajpt swapped a guitar for a keyboard and a new member arrived – pavel zvolenský – who programmed and played the automatic percussions. martin bauer, playing the bass guitar, completed the trio. they have produced a second album, “rhythmus”, in this assembly. remastered from unreleased tape recordings. this is the first release in the framework of the project jupiter 08 – archeology of the slavic electronic sound.

the secret after-hour über-hit of the 90s, matthias strzodas tasse kaffee, gets its first release on 7inch vinyl on berlin-based label martin hossbach. strzoda is the go-to drummer for andreas dorau and rocko schamoni. while working on songs for dorau in the 1995 strzoda wrote the lyrics to tasse kaffee while dorau, tommi eckart (of 2raumwohnung, acting as producer) and strzoda composed the music. the b-side gives us a previously unreleased living-room demo from 1994 by strzoda of the andreas dorau classic

redefine is the second single taken from trentemøllers new album fixion and features marie fisker on vocals. marie fisker, a mainstay of the trentemøller live constellation, has also been a long-time studio collaborator of anders and her four songs on fixion mark their third musical partnership. marie has such a powerful and unique voice that fits my music quite naturally. i had her in mind as soon as i started writing. she ended up singing on four of the songs so shes definitely the voice that kind of leads you through the album. having toured so extensively with marie, we ve come to understand each others capacities and that really pushes us to challenge and inspire each other. i reckon thats the driving force behind our songwriting.

nice price deal !!! the title of this ep sorta says it all. its quite an important release for the label. glasgow musical connections all around! when most people think of optimo music, they think of the long-running club night in glasgow >optimo (espacio)<, which ran for 12 years every sunday…headed by jd twitch and jg wilkes. label honcho jd twitch is extremely proud to be releasing naum gabo … as this is the studio project of his optimo partner, jonnie wilkes, along with james savage. jonnie and james (formally releasing three 12 inches simply as >naum< on kompakts mighty speicher series) have been active on the scene for a while now. as well as releasing the original music on kompakt, mule, eskimo, dissident, and tinae they have provided some wonderful naum gabo reworks for hot chip, simian mobile disco, franz ferdinand, snow patrol, psychonauts and so many more… twitch has long been a fan of naum gabo so it is a bit of a coup to be getting this fantastic release: two covers of two mighty scottish acts from the late 70s/early 80s.
